CONDITIONING
Automatic operation
S e t t h e t e m p e r a t u r e c o n t r o l d i a l 3 to
t h e t e m p e r a t u r e r e q u i r e d .
P l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l d i a l 2 in
the "AUTO" p o s i t i o n .
Place the air distribution adjustment
dial 1 in the "AUTO" p o s i t i o n . When the engine is cold, to avoid
an excessive distribution of cold
air, the ventilation will reach its
o p t i m u m l e v e l g r a d u a l l y .
On entering the vehicle, the in-
t e r i o r t e m p e r a t u r e m a y b e m u c h
c o l d e r ( o r w a r m e r ) t h a n t h e
c o m f o r t t e m p e r a t u r e . T h e r e i s
n o n e e d t o c h a n g e t h e t e m p e r a -
t u r e d i s p l a y e d i n o r d e r t o r e a c h
t h e c o m f o r t r e q u i r e d r a p i d l y .
The automatic regulation of the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g w i l l o p e r a t e a t
m a x i m u m p e r f o r m a n c e t o e l i m i -
n a t e t h e t e m p e r a t u r e d i f f e r e n c e
a s q u i c k l y a s p o s s i b l e .

Heated seats adjustment
The adjustment is correct when

N e v e r d r i v e w i t h t h e r e m o v e d
head restraints in the vehicle as
they could be thrown around the
v e h i c l e o n s h a r p b r a k i n g . T h e y
m u s t b e i n p l a c e a n d a d j u s t e d
c o r r e c t l y .
After installing the head restraint,
check that the height adjustment
b u t t o n i s l o c k e d c o r r e c t l y .
You can move the console housing cov-
e r i n o r d e r t o u s e i t a s a n a r m r e s t .
With the engine running , tilt the but-
t o n t o t h e p o s i t i o n r e q u i r e d .
T h e t e m p e r a t u r e o f t h e s e a t i s r e g u l a t -
e d a u t o m a t i c a l l y .
T h e r e a r e t w o s e t t i n g p o s i t i o n s :
- " H I " : H i g h h e a t i n g
- "LO": Low heating
When the button is in the intermediate
p o s i t i o n , t h e h e a t i n g i s s w i t c h e d o f f .
The indicator lights A comes on when
t h e s y s t e m i s a c t i v a t e d . T o r a i s e t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t , p u l l i t u p -
w a r d s .

To remove the head restraint, bring it to
t h e u p p e r m o s t p o s i t i o n t h e n r e m o v e i t
p r e s s i n g t h e h e i g h t a d j u s t m e n t b u t t o n
a t t h e s a m e t i m e .
T o r e fi t t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t , e n g a g e t h e
stems of the head restraint in the holes
p r e s s i n g t h e h e i g h t a d j u s t m e n t b u t t o n
a t t h e s a m e t i m e .

Adjustment
The mirrors can be adjusted when the
i g n i t i o n s w i t c h i s i n t h e " O N " o r " A C C "
p o s i t i o n .
Move control A to the right or to the left
t o s e l e c t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g m i r r o r .
Direct control B in all four directions
t o a d j u s t t h e m i r r o r .
W h e n a d j u s t m e n t i s c o m p l e t e , r e t u r n
control A t o t h e c e n t r a l p o s i t i o n .
If you switch the engine off then
re-start it with the mirrors folded,
they will unfold automatically
w h e n t h e v e h i c l e r e a c h e s 2 0 m p h
( 3 0 k m / h ) .
If the mirrors have been folded
manually or electrically after
starting the engine, they are not
u n f o l d e d a u t o m a t i c a l l y .
In this case:
Press the control C to unfold
t h e m .
If you have folded the mirrors
using the control
C , you must
use this control to unfold them,
otherwise the mirrors will not be
l o c k e d c o r r e c t l y .
The folding and unfolding of
the exterior mirrors can be con-

The vehicle will relock automati-
cally after thirty seconds unless
a door or the tailgate is opened.
This function prevents inadvert-
ent unlocking.
The duration which precedes
the automatic relocking of the
v e h i c l e c a n b e c o n fi g u r e d v i a
the colour display "Equipment"
menu.
Folding the key
First press button A to fold the key. Electronic engine immobiliser
The key contains an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the ig-
nition is switched on, this code must be
recognised to permit starting.
This electronic engine immobiliser locks
the engine management system a few
moments after the ignition is switched
off and prevents starting of the engine
by anyone who does not have the key.
Anti-theft protection
In the event of a malfunction and if your ve-
hicle does not start; contact a PEUGEOT
dealer as soon as possible.

Starting the vehicle
Insert the key in the ignition switch.
Operate the starter by turning the
key to position 4 (START) .
When the engine turns over, release
the key. The ignition switch is placed
in position 3 (ON) automatically. Switching the vehicle off
Park the vehicle.
While pressing the key, turn it to-
wards you to position 1 (LOCK) .
Remove the key from the ignition
switch. Changing the battery
Battery reference: CR1616/3 volts.
Unclip the casing using a coin at the
notch.

Slide the new battery into its hous-
ing observing the original direction.
Clip the casing.
Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the
driver’s door, if the key has been
left in the ignition.

FUEL TANK ANK

switched off,
pull the control A located at the bot-
tom right of the driver’s seat to re-
l e a s e t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p ,
o p e n t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p B ,
turn the cap C to the left,
W h e n y o u h a v e fi l l e d t h e t a n k :
r e fi t t h e c a p , i n s e r t i n g t h e u p p e r p a r t
fi r s t ,
screw in the cap to the right,
c l o s e t h e fl a p .
E n s u r e t h a t t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p i s c l o s e d
correctly.
remove the cap C ,
fi l l t h e t a n k , b u t do not continue af-
ter the 3rd cut-off of the nozzle ;
this could cause malfunctions.
Low fuel level
Filling
A l a b e l , a f fi x e d o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p ,
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used in relation to your engine.
When the tank minimum level
is reached (approximately
10 litres), this indication ap-
pears on the instrument panel
display.
The symbol
fl a s h e s s l o w l y
(approximately once per second).
You have enough fuel remaining to
drive approximately 30 miles (50 km)
.
When the symbol begins to
fl a s h r a p i d l y (approximately
twice per second), there is not
much fuel remaining in your tank
(approximately 5 litres).
This symbol indicates that the
fuel tank cap is located on the
left-hand side of the vehicle.
Location of the cap
1. Opening.
2. Closing.

SAFETY

The ASC/TCL systems offer
exceptional safety in normal
driving, but this should not en-
courage the driver to take extra
risks or drive at high speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
PEUGEOT assembly and opera-
tion procedures
.
After an impact, have these sys-
tems checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Disarming
In exceptional conditions (starting a
vehicle which is bogged down, stuck
in snow, on soft ground, ...), it may be
advisable to disarm the ASC system,
so that the wheels can move freely and
regain grip.
Press the "ASC OFF" button, locat-
ed to the right of the steering wheel,
until the ASC OFF symbol appears
on the instrument panel display.
The displaying of this symbol in the
top right corner of the instrument panel
display indicates that the ASC and TCL
systems are disarmed. Reactivation
These systems are not reactivated au-
tomatically above 30 mph (50 km/h).
Press the "ASC OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually.
The switching off of the symbol in the
top right corner of the instrument panel
display indicates the reactivation of the
ASC and TCL systems.
Operating fault
The displaying of this mes-
sage on the instrument
panel display indicates
a malfunction of these
systems.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have
the ASC/TCL systems checked.
SYSTEMS
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started.
They operate when the vehicle speed is
higher than 10 mph (15 km/h).
Anti-skid regulation and
electronic stability programme
The anti-skid regulation optimises trac-
tion to prevent skidding of the wheels,
by acting on the brakes of the driving
wheels and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
trajectory required by the driver.
They come into operation in
the event of a grip or trajectory
problem.

of this symbol on the instrument panel
display.
Associated systems which guarantee
the directional stability of the vehicle
within the limits of the laws of physics:
- the anti-skid regulation (TCL),
- the electronic stability programme (ASC).

HANDBRAKE HANDBRAKE
Releasing
Pull on the handle and press the
button A to release the handbrake.
Applying
Pull the handbrake to immobilise
your vehicle.
When parking on a slope, direct your
wheels towards the pavement and apply
the handbrake.

Reverse
To change to reverse gear, lift the ring
under the gear lever knob and push the
gear lever to the left then to the front.
Reverse gear can only be engaged
when the vehicle is stationary with
the engine idling.
When the vehicle is being
driven, the displaying of this
screen indicates that the
handbrake is still on or has
not been properly released.
Mechanical brake to hold the vehicle
when stationary.
"CVT" GEARBOX "CVT" GEARBOX
The six-speed automatic gearbox of-
fers a choice between the comfort of
automatic regulation or the pleasure of
manual gear changing.
This gearbox enables you to access
two driving modes:
- an automated mode for automatic control of the gears by the gearbox
and therefore without any action on
the part of the driver,
- a sequential mode for manual changing of the gears by the driver
using the steering wheel controls or
the gear lever.
It consists of the following controls:
- a gear lever 1 on the centre console
for selecting the driving mode, reverse
gear and neutral or for changing gear
in sequential mode,
