is installed on the rear left trim and is

the tailgate or rear screen.

T h i s s y s t e m c o m e s i n t o o p e r a t i o n

w h e e l l o c k .
N o r m a l o p e r a t i o n o f t h e A B S m a y
m a k e i t s e l f f e l t b y s l i g h t v i b r a t i o n s o f

This indicates that the ABS is
faulty.

SEAT BELTS
Detection of fastening of the front
seat belts
When the ignition is switched on ,
i f a f r o n t p a s s e n g e r h a s n o t f a s t e n e d
h i s s e a t b e l t a n d i f t h e v e h i c l e s p e e d
is below 13 mph (20 km/h) , you are
w a r n e d b y l i g h t i n g o f t h e seat belt
warning light .
T h e w a r n i n g l i g h t s w i t c h e s o f f w h e n t h e
seat belt(s) concerned is(are) fastened.
I f t h e v e h i c l e s p e e d i s above 13 mph
(20 km/h) , y o u a r e w a r n e d b y fl a s h -
ing of the seat belt warning light , an
audible signal and a message on the
m u l t i f u n c t i o n d i s p l a y l o c a t i n g t h e u n -
fastened seat belt(s).
Front seat belts with
pre-tensioner and force
limiter
I n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s f r o n t
i m p a c t , t h e p r e - t e n s i o n i n g s y s t e m i n -
s t a n t l y t i g h t e n s t h e s e a t b e l t s fi r m l y
a g a i n s t t h e b o d i e s o f t h e o c c u p a n t s .
T h e p r e - t e n s i o n i n g s e a t b e l t s a r e
a r m e d w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n i s o n .
T h e f o r c e l i m i t e r r e d u c e s t h e p r e s s u r e
of the seat belt against the chest of
t h e o c c u p a n t , s o i n c r e a s i n g h i s p r o -
tection.
Rear seat belts
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e a l l fi t t e d w i t h a
t h r e e - p o i n t i n e r t i a r e e l s e a t b e l t .
T h e r e a r s i d e s e a t b e l t s h a v e a f o r c e
l i m i t e r a n d m a y b e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning inertia reel.
To fasten the seat belts
P u l l t h e s t r a p , t h e n i n s e r t t h e
tongue into the buckle.
C h e c k t h a t t h e s e a t b e l t i s s e c u r e d
c o r r e c t l y b y p u l l i n g t h e s t r a p .
To unfasten the seat belts
Press the red button on the buckle. B e f o r e f o l d i n g t h e s e a t b a c k , p u l l t h e
s t r a p a n d i n s e r t t h e s e a t b e l t t o n g u e
i n t o t h e b u c k l e . T h i s p r e c a u t i o n w i l l
e n s u r e t h a t e a c h s e a t b e l t i s i n p l a c e
w h e n t h e r e a r s e a t s a r e l i f t e d a g a i n .
Note: a bag or an animal
p l a c e d o n t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r
seat may trigger the lighting of
t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t .
The audible signal ceases and the
w a r n i n g l i g h t s w i t c h e s o f f w h e n t h e
seat belt concerned is fastened.
A f t e r t w o m i n u t e s w i t h o u t a n y a c t i o n
o n t h e s e a t b e l t s , t h e fl a s h i n g w a r n i n g
l i g h t r e m a i n s o n p e r m a n e n t l y a n d t h e
a u d i b l e s i g n a l c e a s e s . A l l o f t h e w a r n -
i n g s c e a s e w h e n a d o o r i s o p e n e d o r
w h e n t h e e n g i n e i s s w i t c h e d o f f .

T h e a i r b a g s h a v e b e e n d e s i g n e d t o
m a x i m i s e t h e s a f e t y o f t h e o c c u p a n t s
( w i t h t h e e x c e p t i o n o f t h e r e a r c e n t r e
p a s s e n g e r ) i n t h e e v e n t o f v i o l e n t c o l -
l i s i o n s . T h e y s u p p l e m e n t t h e a c t i o n o f
the force-limiting seat belts.
In this case, the electronic detectors

They are folded in the centre of the

This smoke is not harmful, but sensi-
t i v e i n d i v i d u a l s m a y e x p e r i e n c e s o m e
irritation.
The noise of the detonation may result
in a slight loss of hearing for a short

ference due to radioelectric emissions
on a frequency close to that used by
the system.
