9. Air diffuser grille. AUTOMATIC REGULATION OF THE AIR CONDITIONING
Air diffuser
The air diffuser grille, located at the
t o p o f t h e c e n t r e c o n s o l e , s i g n i fi c a n t l y
i m p r o v e s d i s t r i b u t i o n a n d fl o w s a n d
p r e v e n t s a i r c u r r e n t s , w h i l e m a i n t a i n -
i n g a n o p t i m u m t e m p e r a t u r e i n s i d e t h e
p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t .
Advice on operation
To obtain even ventilation,
avoid closing the air diffuser
grille 9 .
I n h o t w e a t h e r , i n o r d e r t o o b t a i n i n -
t e n s e v e n t i l a t i o n , y o u c a n c l o s e t h e a i r
diffuser grille 10 and use vents 1 and
5 o n l y .
I f , w h e n t h e v e h i c l e h a s b e e n p a r k e d
in the sun for a long time, the interior
t e m p e r a t u r e r e m a i n s v e r y h i g h , d o n o t
h e s i t a t e t o v e n t i l a t e t h e p a s s e n g e r
c o m p a r t m e n t f o r a f e w m i n u t e s .
For even air distribution, take care
not to obstruct the exterior air intake
grille located at the bottom of the

air conditioning is recommended. It

LIGHTS STALK
Lights off
Side lights Dipped/main beam head-

With the ignition and the automatic
lights function switched off, on open-
ing the driver's door a buzzer sounds
to warn you that you have left your
lights on.
Front and rear fog lamps (ring B)
Turn ring B forwards to switch on
and backwards to switch off. The
p o s i t i o n i s c o n fi r m e d b y t h e l i g h t
on the instrument panel.
Front fog lamps (one press)
These operate with the side lights, dipped
headlamps or main beam headlamps. Rear fog lamps (two presses)
These operate with the side lights and
the front fog lamps, or with the dipped
or main beam headlamps.
Left
: downwards.
Right
: upwards

If you forget to return the di-
rection indicator to its normal
position, the volume of the au-
dible signal will increase, if you
are driving at a speed greater
than 45 mph (70 km/h).
Parking lights *
The side lights are lit on the side the
t r a f fi c i s o n f o r a f e w h o u r s .
With the engine switched off and with-
in 45 seconds maximum, place the in-
d i c a t o r l i g h t s s t a l k o n t h e t r a f fi c s i d e
(for example: for parking on the right;
switching on of the lights on the left).
This is indicated by an audible signal
and lighting of the corresponding di-
rection indicator on the instrument
panel for a few seconds. If the parking lights are activated
when your vehicle switches to
economy mode, they will remain
on. However, you cannot acti-
vate the parking lights if your vehicle is
already in economy mode.
Dipped/main beam change
Pull the stalk fully towards you.

with the "AUTO" position,
you can deactivate or activate
the automatic lighting via the multi-
function display "Personalisation -

6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX HANDBRAKE
To release
Pull the handle and press the button to
release the handbrake.
To apply
When parking on a slope, turn the
wheels towards the kerb and apply the
handbrake.
Reverse
To change to reverse gear, lift the ring
under the gear lever knob and push
the gear lever to the left then to the
front.
Reverse gear can only be engaged
when the vehicle is stationary with
the engine idling.

Deactivation
Press button A to deactivate the sys-
tem (child asleep in the rear...). The in-
dicator light on the button comes on.
Note: this function will be de-
activated automatically when
a trailer is being towed (vehi-
c l e fi t t e d w i t h a t o w b a r r e c o m -
mended by PEUGEOT ).
Reactivation
Press button A again to reactivate the
system. The indicator light on the but-
ton is switched off.
If there is an operating fault,
when reverse gear is engaged,
t h e i n d i c a t o r l i g h t fl a s h e s , a c c o m -
panied by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction
display.

Do not dispose of used oil,

For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, to see and be seen, we would
advise that you use products of the
PEUGEOT Universal range. At the start of winter, have
your battery checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

in dusty conditions, change
them twice as often.
Air filter and passenger compartment filter
Brake pad wear depends on
the style of driving, in par-
ticular for vehicles which are
used in town, over short dis-
tances.
Brake pads
It may be necessary to check
the thickness of the pads,
even between services. Where the handbrake travel
is too great or there is a re-
duction in the performance
of the system, the handbrake
should be adjusted.
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

ance from components as im-
portant as the power steering
and the braking system, the
manufacturer selects and offers spe-
c i fi c p r o d u c t s , o n l y u s e p r o d u c t s r e c -
ommended by PEUGEOT .
To prevent damage to the electrical
units, high pressure washing of the en-
gine compartment is strictly prohibited .
U s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e

Open the reservoir, with the engine
at ambient temperature, the level
should always be above the MIN
mark, close to the MAX mark.
Particle emission filter - Additive reservoir (Diesel)
It is imperative that the maintenance of
t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r a n d t h e fi l l -
ing of the additive reservoir are carried
out by a PEUGEOT dealer in accord-
ance with the manufacturer’s servicing
schedule.

For any information relating to check-

After changing the wheel:
- have the tightening of the bolts and the tyre pressure of the spare wheel
checked as soon as possible.
-
have the punctured wheel repaired and
r e fi t i t t o t h e v e h i c l e a s s o o n a s p o s s i b l e .
- have the spare wheel checked and replace it in its boot recess.
Fitting a wheel
Position the wheel.
Tighten the bolts by hand.
Partly tighten the bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 .
Fold the jack 2 and remove it.
Fully tighten the bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 .

the covers.
Put the tool holder back in position.
T h i s h e l p s t o k e e p t h e b o o t fl o o r i n
its correct position, to prevent any
d e f o r m a t i o n o f t h e fl o o r w h e n l o a d e d .
Tighten the spare wheel securing
strap to prevent noise and for your
safety in the event of impact.
Reminder: for your safety, always
change a wheel:
- on level, stable, non-slippery ground,
- with the handbrake applied,
- w i t h fi r s t o r r e v e r s e g e a r e n g a g e d (position P for the automatic gear-
box),
- never go underneath a vehicle which is supported only by a jack.
Tools available
The following tools are located in
the holder in the centre of the spare
wheel:
1. Wheelbrace. Permits removal of
the wheel trim and removal of the
wheel securing bolts.
2. Jack with integrated handle.
Permits raising of the vehicle.
3. Removable towing eye. See corre-
sponding section.
4. Bolt cover tool. Permits removal of
the bolt protectors (covers) on al-
loy wheels. Removal
For vehicles with alloy wheels, re-
move the covers using tool 4 .
Loosen the wheel bolts.
Place the jack 2 in one of the four
locations underneath the vehicle
(the nearest one to the wheel to be
changed).
Extend the jack 2 until its base is in
contact with the ground.
Unscrew the bolts and remove the
wheel.

CHANGING A REAR BULB
1. Direction indicators: W 16 W.
2. Fog lamps: P21 W.
3. Reversing lights: P21 W.
4. Brake lights/side lights: P21/5 W.
Fold down the panel to gain access
to the light.
U n s c r e w t h e 2 l i g h t fi x i n g n u t s i n s i d e
the boot.
Disconnect the connector.
Pull the light towards the outside.
Unscrew the bulb holder sleeve a
quarter of a turn.
Unscrew the faulty bulb and
change it.
Screw in the bulb holder sleeve a
quarter of a turn.
Put the light back in place from the
outside.
Reconnect the connector.

s i d e t h e b o o t . W h e n r e fi t t i n g , e n -
sure that the light is positioned and
fi x e d c o r r e c t l y .
Number plate lights: W 5 W.
Remove the transparent cover us-
ing a screwdriver.
Change the faulty bulb.
Third brake light: diodes.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer for replacement.

TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
From the rear:
Unclip the cover, pulling the upper
rib towards you,
Screw in the towing eye as far as it
will go.
Special featuresof the automatic gearbox
Lifting (2 wheels only on the ground)
It is preferable to raise the vehicle with
a professional lifting device.
When towing with the engine
switched off, there is no bra-
king or steering assistance.
From the front:
Unclip the left part of the cover,
Screw in the towing eye as far as it
will go. Towing a vehicle with an auto-
matic gearbox in reverse gear
is
prohibited (absence of
lubrication).
When being towed with all four wheels
on the ground, it is imperative that the
following rules are obeyed:
- selector lever in position N ,
- the vehicle must be towed at a speed of less than 30 mph (50 km/h) over
a maximum distance of 30 miles
(50 km),
- do not add oil to the gearbox.
Without lifting (4 wheels on the ground)
You must always use a towbar.
The removable towing eye is inside
the spare wheel.

In all cases, pay attention to the cool-
ant temperature.
Brakes: towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake gradually.
Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed. TOWING A TRAILER, CARAVAN, BOAT, ETC...
We recommend the use of original
PEUGEOT towbars which have been
tested and approved from the design
stage of your vehicle and that the tow-
b a r i s fi t t e d b y a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
Driving advice
Distribution of loads: distribute the
load in the trailer so that the heavi-
est loads are as close as possible to
the axle and the nose weight is close
to the maximum authorised without,
however, exceeding it.
Cooling: towing a trailer on a slope in-
creases the coolant temperature.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.
Note: in certain cases of par-
ticularly arduous use (towing
the maximum load in high
temperatures), the engine au-
tomatically limits its power and selects
the appropriate automatic gearbox
gear in manual mode. In this case,
cutting off the air conditioning allows
the engine power to be recovered, and
therefore the towing capacity to be in-
creased.
If the coolant temperature
warning light comes on, stop
the vehicle and switch off the
engine as soon as possible.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle (label on the central
door pillar on the driver's side) and of
the trailer towed, observing the recom-
mended pressure.
