Practical information Towing a trailer, a caravan, etc.
We recommend the use of genuine PEUGEOT towbars and their harnesses that have been tested and approved from the design stage of your vehicle, and that the fitting of the towbar is entrusted to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop. If the trailer is not fitted by a PEUGEOT dealer, it is imperative that it is fitted using the vehicle's electrical pre-equipment, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Towbar suitable for the attachment of a trailer or caravan with additional lighting and signalling. Your vehicle is primarily designed for transpor ting people and luggage, but it may also be used for towing a trailer.
Driving with a trailer places greater demands on the towing vehicle and the driver must take par ticular care.
Blanking cover
When towing, you must remove the blanking cover in the front bumper if your vehicle has one. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop for this.

Driving advice
Distribution of loads
 Distribute the load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as close as possible to the axle and the nose weight approaches the maximum permitted without exceeding it. Air density decreases with altitude, thus reducing engine per formance. Above 1 000 metres, the maximum towed load must be reduced by 10 % for every 1 000 metres of altitude. Refer to the "Technical Data" section for details of the weights and towed loads which apply to your vehicle.
Side wind
 Take into account the increased sensitivity to side wind.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases the temperature of the coolant. As the fan is electrically controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependent on the engine speed.  To lower the engine speed, reduce your speed. The maximum towed load on a long incline depends on the gradient and the ambient temperature. In all cases, keep a check on the coolant temperature.
 If the warning lamp and the STOP warning lamp come on, stop the vehicle and switch off the engine as soon as possible.
Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking distance.
Tyres
 Check the tyre pressures of the towing vehicle and of the trailer, obser ving the recommended pressures.
Lighting
 Check the electrical lighting and signalling on the trailer.
The rear parking sensors will be deactivated automatically if a genuine PEUGEOT towbar is used.

Checks
Opening the bonnet
Opening
 From inside : pull the release lever, located on the left below the dashboard, towards you.
Before doing anything under the bonnet, switch off the Stop & Star t system to avoid any risk of injury resulting from an automatic change to START mode.
Closing
 Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel.  Check that it is latched correctly.
 From the outside : lift the safety catch and raise the bonnet. A bonnet strut opens the bonnet and holds it open.

Checks
Manual gearbox

Brake wear depends on the style of driving, par ticularly in the case of vehicles used in town, over shor t distances. It may be necessary to have the condition of the brakes checked, even between vehicle ser vices. Unless there is a leak in the system, a drop in the brake fluid level indicates that the brake pads are worn.

Manual parking brake
If a loss of effectiveness of this system is noticed, the parking brake must be checked, even between
two ser vices. Checking this system must be done by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Electric parking brake
This system does not require any routine ser vicing. However, in the event of a problem, have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop. For more information, see "Driving - Electric parking brake - § Operating faults".
Only use products recommended by PEUGEOT or products of equivalent quality and specification.
In order to optimise the operation of units as impor tant as the braking system, PEUGEOT selects and offers
very specific products. To avoid damaging the electrical units, the use of a high pressure washer in the engine compar tment is strictly prohibited .

Select " Select destination " and confi rm, then select " Enter an address " and confi rm.
Select the " Country " function then confi rm.
Select " Town " function then confi rm to enter the destination town.
Select the letters in the name of the town one at a time, confi rming each one with the dial.

A pre-set list (by entering the fi rst few letters) of the towns in the country selected can be accessed directly by selecting and confi rmin g List on the screen. List
Turn the dial and select " OK " then confi rm.
If possible, enter the " Road " and " N°/X " information in the same way.
Select " Archive " to save the address entered in a contact fi le.
The system allows up to 400 contact fi les to be recorded.
Confi rm " OK " to start guidance.
Select the guidance criteria: " Fastest route ", " Shortest route " or optimised " Distance/Time ", then select the desired restriction criteria: " With tolls ", " With Ferry ", or " Traffi c info " then confi rm " OK ".
