Driving safety
TYRE UNDER-INFLATION
DETECTION
Sensors check the tyre pressure during
driving, and trigger a warning in the
event of a malfunction (speed greater
than approx.15 mph [25 km/h]) or
puncture.
An outline representing one or more
w h e e l s fl a s h i n g i n d i c a t e s t h e l o c a t i o n
of the wheel or wheels concerned. Flat tyre
The SERVICE warning light
comes on, accompanied
by the message "Tyre(s)
d e fl a t e d " , an outline on the display,
and an audible signal.
Check the tyre pressure as soon as
possible. If the damaged tyre is temporarily
stored in the boot, it will again emit
this message to remind you of the
necessity of having it repaired. This will
prevent another warning of the same
type being displayed.
Sensor(s) not detected
The SERVICE warning light
comes on, accompanied
by the message "X tyre
pressure sensor(s) missing" , an
outline on the display and an audible
signal.
U n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n i s a b s e n t
from one (or several) tyre(s). Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer to replace the faulty
sensor(s). This message is also displayed
when one of the tyres is away
from the vehicle (being repaired)
or when a wheel without a sensor
i s fi t t e d .
All repairs and changing of
t y r e s o n a w h e e l fi t t e d w i t h t h i s
system must be carried out by a
PEUGEOT dealer .
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system is a driving aid which does
not take the place of vigilance or the
responsibility of the driver.
This system does not remove the
need to have the tyre pressure
checked regularly (including the spare
wheel), to ensure that the dynamic
performance of the vehicle remains at
its best and to avoid premature wear
of the tyres, in particular in the case
of arduous driving (heavy load, high
speed).
The system may temporarily be
disturbed by radio broadcasts on a
frequency close to it.
Puncture
The STOP warning light
comes on, accompanied
by the message
"Punctured tyre(s)" , an outline on the
display and an audible signal.
Stop immediately, avoiding any sudden
movement of the steering wheel and
the brakes.
Change the damaged (punctured or
v e r y d e fl a t e d ) t y r e , a n d h a v e t h e t y r e
pressure checked as soon as possible.
Refer to the "Changing a wheel"
section of chapter 8.

FRONT AND REAR SIDE SEAT
BELTS
The front seats and the rear side seats
o f r o w 2 a r e fi t t e d w i t h p r e - t e n s i o n e r s
and force limiters. The lap strap must be positioned as
low as possible on the pelvis. The
chest strap must pass over the hollow
of the shoulder.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap. The force-limiting device reduces the
pressure of the seat belt against the
chest of the occupant, so increasing
his protection.
A bag placed on the front
passenger seat or a pet sitting on
this seat may trigger the lighting of
this warning light.
SEAT BELTS
Front seat belt warning light
If the driver and/or front
passenger has/have not
fastened his/their seat belt,
this warning light comes on.
Then, at a speed in excess of
approximately 15 mph (25 km/h), it
fl a s h e s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e
signal of increasing volume (for
approximately 90 seconds) and a
message on the display.
Row 2 rear side seat belts
For your comfort, if you are not using
the seat belt, slide the seat belt loop to
the upper stop to prevent the tongue
from vibrating.
To adjust the height
- To lower the attachment point,
squeeze control and slide it
downwards.
- To raise the attachment point, slide control upwards.
To fasten
- Pull the strap, then insert the buckle into the stalk.
- Check that the seat belt is secured correctly by pulling the strap. Inertia reel seat belts

locks the seat belt automatically in
the event of an impact or emergency
braking.
Safety in the event of a frontal impact
has been improved by the introduction
of pre-tensioning and force-limiting
seat belts. Depending on the
seriousness of the impact, the pre-
tensioning system instantly tightens the
s e a t b e l t s fi r m l y a g a i n s t t h e b o d y o f t h e
occupant.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
Row 3 rear side seat belts
T h e r o w 3 r e a r s i d e s e a t s a r e fi t t e d
with two seat belts which are both
three-point inertia reel belts with force
limiter.

Seat belts Triggering of the pretensioners is
accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic
cartridge incorporated in the system.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt against the body of the
o c c u p a n t s . T h e e q u i p m e n t fi t t e d t o
these seat belts is operational when
the ignition is switched on.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a d e v i c e
which automatically locks the strap in
the event of a collision or emergency
braking. You can release the seat belt
and allow the strap to roll up. Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e c o m p l e t e l y .
I f t h e s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a r m r e s t s , t h e
lap part of the seat belt should always
pass under the armrest.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
c o r r e c t l y b y p u l l i n g t h e s t r a p fi r m l y .
Good practice
Wherever you are seated in the
vehicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n e r t i a
reel which automatically adjusts the
length of the strap to your size. The
seat belt is rolled up automatically
when not in use.
Ensure that the seat belt is rolled up
correctly after use.
After folding or moving a rear seat or
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt is
rolled up correctly in its compartment
and that the buckle is ready to
accommodate the tongue.
Depending on the nature and
seriousness of any impact, the
pretensioning device may be triggered
b e f o r e a n d i n d e p e n d e n t l y o f i n fl a t i o n
of the air bags. It instantly tightens
the seat belts against the body of the
occupants.
To install the seat belt, move the
tongue into position to insert it into the
buckle.
Row 2 and 3 rear centre seat
belts
The row 2 rear centre seat and the
rear bench seat centre seat have an
integrated three-point inertia reel seat
belt.
The air bag warning light comes on
if the pretensioners are triggered.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
In order to be effective, a seat belt
must:
- restrain one person only,
- must not be twisted, check by pulling in front of you with an even
movement,
- be tightened as close to the body as possible.
The upper part of the seat belt should
be positioned in the hollow of the
shoulder.
The lap part should be placed as low
as possible on the pelvis. Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the
passenger is less than 12 years old
o r s h o r t e r t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y ,
- never allow a child to travel on your lap, even with the seat belt
fastened.
For further information regarding child
seats, refer to the "Children on board"
section of chapter 5.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, your PEUGEOT dealer
guarantees all work or any checks,
from testing to maintenance, on your
seat belt equipment.
Have the seat belts checked regularly
(even after a minor impact) by a
PEUGEOT dealer : they must not show
any signs of wear, cutting or fraying
and they must not be transformed or
m o d i fi e d .
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product, sold
by PEUGEOT dealers .

Airbags
Disarming
The passenger’s front air bag alone can be disarmed:
With the ignition switched off,insert the key into the passenger air bag disarming switch,
turn it to the "OFF" position,
then remove the key keeping the slot in this position.
Front air bags
The front air bags are incorporated in the
centre of the steering wheel for the driver
and in the fascia for the front passenger.
Front air bag fault
If this warning light comes on, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the display, consult a PEUGEOT dealer to have the system checked.
Reactivation
In the "OFF" position, the passenger air bag will not be triggered in the event of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed, turn the air bag slot to the "ON"position to re-activate the air bag and thus ensure the safety of your passenger in the event of an impact.
To ensure the safety of your child, it is essential to disarm the passenger air bag when you install a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat. Otherwise, the child would risk being killed or seriously i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
The air bag warning light on the instrument panel is lit throughout the period of disarming.
If the two air bag warning lights are lit continuously, do not install a rear-facing child seat. Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Activation
They are deployed simultaneously, unless the passenger’s front air bag has been disarmed, in the event of a serious front impact applied to all or part of the front impact zone A in the longitudinal centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal plane directed from the front towards the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n the front occupant of the vehicle and the fascia to cushion his forward movement.

Side air bags
I f fi t t e d o n y o u r v e h i c l e , t h i s i s a
system which protects the driver and
front passenger in the event of a
serious side impact in order to limit the
risk of injury to the chest.
Each side air bag is incorporated in the
front seat back frame, on the door side. T h e c u r t a i n a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n
the front or rear occupant of the vehicle
and the windows.
Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone. In the event of a minor impact or
bump on the side of the vehicle or
if the vehicle rolls over, the air bag
may not be triggered.
The air bag is not triggered in the event
of a rear or front collision.
Operating fault
Curtain air bags
I f fi t t e d o n y o u r v e h i c l e , t h i s i s a
system which protects the driver and
passengers (with the exception of the
centre seats of rows 2 and 3) in the
event of a serious side impact in order
to limit the risk of head injuries.
Each curtain air bag is incorporated
in the pillars and the upper part of the
passenger compartment.
Activation
It is triggered unilaterally in the event
of a serious side impact applied to
all or part of the side impact zone
B ,
perpendicular to the longitudinal
centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal
plane and directed from the outside
towards the inside of the vehicle.

front occupant of the vehicle and the
corresponding door trim pad. Activation
It is triggered at the same time as the
corresponding side air bag in the event
of a serious side impact applied to
all or part of the side impact zone
B ,
perpendicular to the longitudinal
centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal
plane and directed from the outside
towards the inside of the vehicle. If this warning light comes
on on the instrument panel,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer to have the system
checked. The air bags may no longer
be triggered in the event of a serious
impact.

Towing a trailer
On the contrary, use a high gear to
lower the engine speed and reduce
your speed.
In all cases, pay attention to the
coolant temperature.
Brakes: towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake
gradually. Please contact a PEUGEOT dealer
fi r s t f o r f u r t h e r i n f o r m a t i o n .
Automatic adjustment
For vehicles with Xenon bulbs, and if
the change in load makes it necessary,
this system automatically corrects the
height of the beam after approximately
2 minutes. The driver is then assured
of having optimum lighting and not
causing a nuisance to other road
users.
In certain cases of particularly
arduous use (towing the
maximum load up a steep slope
in high temperatures), the engine
automatically limits its power.
In this case, cutting off the air
conditioning allows the engine power
to be recovered, and therefore the
t o w i n g s p e e d t o b e s i g n i fi c a n t l y
increased (approximately 12 mph
[20 km/h] more). Sequential control
of the gearbox may also become
unavailable. Lighting
Bicycle carrier I f y o u fi t a b i c y c l e c a r r i e r o n
the tailgate, deactivate the
rear wiper from the display’s
c o n fi g u r a t i o n m e n u .

features" section of chapter 9. Refer to the "Steering wheel
controls" section of chapter 3.
When using a trailer connection,
you must add a fuse. Refer to
the "Changing a fuse" section of
chapter 8.
If the coolant temperature warning light
comes on, stop the vehicle and switch
off the engine as soon as possible.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of
the towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pressure.
Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed.
Towbar
We recommend the use of original
PEUGEOT towbars, which have been
tested for endurance from the design
stage of your vehicle.
T o w i n g e q u i p m e n t m u s t b e fi t t e d i n
accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions, with particular attention to
the towing capacities of your vehicle,
the load towed, the nose weight and
t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n n e c t i o n . A s t h i s fi t t i n g
should be carried out by a professional,
we recommend that you entrust the
fi t t i n g o f t h i s e q u i p m e n t t o a P E U G E O T
dealer .
In accordance with the general
instructions referred to above, we draw
your attention to the risk connected
w i t h fi t t i n g a t o w b a r o r o t h e r e l e c t r i c a l
accessory which is not recommended
by the PEUGEOT network . Fitting such
equipment could result in a failure of
your vehicle’s electronic system. Manual adjustment
Adjust your headlamps so as not to
dazzle other road users. Check the
electrical signalling of the trailer.

These accessories and parts, after
being tested and approved for reliability
and safety, are all adapted to your
vehicle. A wide choice of recommended
accessories and original parts is offered
by the PEUGEOT Marque. To avoid any jamming under the
pedals:
- e n s u r e t h a t t h e m a t a n d i t s fi x i n g s are positioned correctly,
- never place one mat on top of another.

The audio cable for connection to
the auxiliary socket (RCA yellow-red

system sound. Then use the audio

- Insert the key then turn it to the left.
- Remove the cap and attach it to the c l i p l o c a t e d o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p .
FILLING THE FUEL TANK
W h e n t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p i s o p e n , a
system limits the opening of the
rear left sliding side door.
The key cannot be removed from the
c a p ’ s l o c k u n t i l t h e c a p i s r e fi t t e d o n
the tank.
FUEL CIRCUIT DISARMED
In a serious collision, a mechanism
automatically prevents fuel from
reaching the engine.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g
light is accompanied by a
message on the display.
When the tank’s minimum
level is reached, this warning
light comes on, accompanied
by the message "Fuel
level low" on the display.
You have enough fuel left to cover
approximately 30 miles (50 km) ,
depending on driving conditions and
the engine.
I f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s , t h i s
indicates a fuel gauge malfunction.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
DIESEL REPRIMING PUMP
If you should run out of fuel, it is
necessary to re-prime the circuit:
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual re-priming pump, under the bonnet
under the protective cover, until fuel
appears in the transparent pipe,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
A l a b e l o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p
indicates which type of fuel to use.
I f y o u fi l l y o u r t a n k , d o n o t c o n t i n u e
after the third cut-off of the pump
nozzle. This could result in vehicle
malfunctions.
The capacity of the tank is
approximately 18 gallons (
80 litres).
- A f t e r fi l l i n g t h e t a n k , l o c k t h e c a p a n d c l o s e t h e fl a p . Check that there is no odour or
leakage of fuel outside the vehicle and
re-establish the fuel supply:
switch off the ignition
(STOP position).
remove the key.
put the key back in the ignition.
switch on the ignition and start.

Opening the bonnet
OPENING THE BONNET
From inside:
- lift the cover located at the left foot of the passenger seat.
- pull the control upwards. "Bonnet open" warning
This warning is linked to the
alarm
option only.
With the engine running or the vehicle
moving, a graphic on the display,
accompanied by an audible signal,
warns you that the bonnet is not
properly closed.
From outside:
- lift the catch and raise the bonnet.
Bonnet strut
Secure the strut to hold the bonnet
open.
Before closing the bonnet, replace the
strut in its housing.
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at the
end of its travel. Check that the bonnet
is properly locked.

Levels These regular maintenance
operations will keep your vehicle
in good running order. Consult the
instructions at PEUGEOT dealerships
or in the servicing booklet enclosed in
the handbook pack. To maintain the reliability of engines
and emission control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil is prohibited.
Oil change
It is imperative that this is carried out at
t h e i n t e r v a l s s p e c i fi e d a n d t h e v i s c o s i t y
g r a d e o f t h e o i l s e l e c t e d m u s t f u l fi l t h e
requirements in accordance with the
manufacturer's servicing schedule.
Consult the instructions at PEUGEOT
dealerships .
R e m o v e t h e d i p s t i c k b e f o r e fi l l i n g .
C h e c k t h e l e v e l a f t e r fi l l i n g
(never exceed the max mark).
Screw the cap back onto the sump
before closing the bonnet.
LEVELS
I f y o u h a v e t o r e m o v e / r e fi t t h e
engine style cover, handle it
with care to avoid damaging
t h e fi x i n g c l i p s .
Dipstick Warning lights
Oil level
Check the level regularly and top up
between changes. The maximum
consumption is 0.5 litre per 600 miles
(1 000 km).
Check the level with the vehicle level,
engine cold, using the dipstick.
Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer's requirements. Checking by means of the
warning lights on the instrument
panel is described in chapter 2,
"Instruments and controls" section.
Changing the brake fluid
T h e b r a k e fl u i d m u s t b e c h a n g e d a t
the intervals stated, according to the
manufacturer's servicing schedule.
U s e fl u i d s r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
m a n u f a c t u r e r , w h i c h f u l fi l D O T 4
standards.
The level must be between the MIN
and MAX marks on the reservoir.
I f fl u i d h a s t o b e a d d e d f r e q u e n t l y ,
this indicates a failure which must be
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer as
soon as possible.
There are two marks
on the dipstick:
A = maximum
I f y o u fi l l p a s t t h i s
mark, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer .
B = minimum
Never allow the level
to fall below this
mark.
