Seat belts

FRONT AND REAR SIDE SEAT
BELTS
The front seats and the rear side seats
o f r o w 2 a r e fi t t e d w i t h p r e - t e n s i o n e r s
and force limiters. The lap strap must be positioned as
low as possible on the pelvis. The
chest strap must pass over the hollow
of the shoulder.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap. The force-limiting device reduces the
pressure of the seat belt against the
chest of the occupant, so increasing
his protection.
A bag placed on the front
passenger seat or a pet sitting on
this seat may trigger the lighting of
this warning light.
SEAT BELTS
Front seat belt warning light
If the driver and/or front
passenger has/have not
fastened his/their seat belt,
this warning light comes on.
Then, at a speed in excess of
approximately 15 mph (25 km/h), it
fl a s h e s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e
signal of increasing volume (for
approximately 90 seconds) and a
message on the display.
Row 2 rear side seat belts
For your comfort, if you are not using
the seat belt, slide the seat belt loop to
the upper stop to prevent the tongue
from vibrating.
To adjust the height
- To lower the attachment point,
squeeze control and slide it
downwards.
- To raise the attachment point, slide control upwards.
To fasten
- Pull the strap, then insert the buckle into the stalk.
- Check that the seat belt is secured correctly by pulling the strap. Inertia reel seat belts

locks the seat belt automatically in
the event of an impact or emergency
braking.
Safety in the event of a frontal impact
has been improved by the introduction
of pre-tensioning and force-limiting
seat belts. Depending on the
seriousness of the impact, the pre-
tensioning system instantly tightens the
s e a t b e l t s fi r m l y a g a i n s t t h e b o d y o f t h e
occupant.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
Row 3 rear side seat belts
T h e r o w 3 r e a r s i d e s e a t s a r e fi t t e d
with two seat belts which are both
three-point inertia reel belts with force
limiter.

Airbags
Disarming
The passenger’s front air bag alone can be disarmed:
With the ignition switched off,insert the key into the passenger air bag disarming switch,
turn it to the "OFF" position,
then remove the key keeping the slot in this position.
Front air bags
The front air bags are incorporated in the
centre of the steering wheel for the driver
and in the fascia for the front passenger.
Front air bag fault
If this warning light comes on, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the display, consult a PEUGEOT dealer to have the system checked.
Reactivation
In the "OFF" position, the passenger air bag will not be triggered in the event of an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed, turn the air bag slot to the "ON"position to re-activate the air bag and thus ensure the safety of your passenger in the event of an impact.
To ensure the safety of your child, it is essential to disarm the passenger air bag when you install a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat. Otherwise, the child would risk being killed or seriously i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
The air bag warning light on the instrument panel is lit throughout the period of disarming.
If the two air bag warning lights are lit continuously, do not install a rear-facing child seat. Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Activation
They are deployed simultaneously, unless the passenger’s front air bag has been disarmed, in the event of a serious front impact applied to all or part of the front impact zone A in the longitudinal centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal plane directed from the front towards the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n the front occupant of the vehicle and the fascia to cushion his forward movement.

Airbags

Side air bags
I f fi t t e d o n y o u r v e h i c l e , t h i s i s a
system which protects the driver and
front passenger in the event of a
serious side impact in order to limit the
risk of injury to the chest.
Each side air bag is incorporated in the
front seat back frame, on the door side. T h e c u r t a i n a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n
the front or rear occupant of the vehicle
and the windows.
Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone. In the event of a minor impact or
bump on the side of the vehicle or
if the vehicle rolls over, the air bag
may not be triggered.
The air bag is not triggered in the event
of a rear or front collision.
Operating fault
Curtain air bags
I f fi t t e d o n y o u r v e h i c l e , t h i s i s a
system which protects the driver and
passengers (with the exception of the
centre seats of rows 2 and 3) in the
event of a serious side impact in order
to limit the risk of head injuries.
Each curtain air bag is incorporated
in the pillars and the upper part of the
passenger compartment.
Activation
It is triggered unilaterally in the event
of a serious side impact applied to
all or part of the side impact zone

perpendicular to the longitudinal
centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal
plane and directed from the outside
towards the inside of the vehicle.

It is triggered at the same time as the
corresponding side air bag in the event
of a serious side impact applied to
all or part of the side impact zone

plane and directed from the outside
towards the inside of the vehicle. If this warning light comes
on on the instrument panel,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer to have the system
checked. The air bags may no longer
be triggered in the event of a serious
impact.

Towing a trailer
On the contrary, use a high gear to
lower the engine speed and reduce
your speed.
In all cases, pay attention to the
coolant temperature.
Brakes: towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake
gradually. Please contact a PEUGEOT dealer
fi r s t f o r f u r t h e r i n f o r m a t i o n .
Automatic adjustment
For vehicles with Xenon bulbs, and if
the change in load makes it necessary,
this system automatically corrects the
height of the beam after approximately
2 minutes. The driver is then assured
of having optimum lighting and not
causing a nuisance to other road
users.
In certain cases of particularly
arduous use (towing the
maximum load up a steep slope
in high temperatures), the engine
automatically limits its power.
In this case, cutting off the air
conditioning allows the engine power
to be recovered, and therefore the
t o w i n g s p e e d t o b e s i g n i fi c a n t l y
increased (approximately 12 mph
[20 km/h] more). Sequential control
of the gearbox may also become
unavailable. Lighting

the tailgate, deactivate the
rear wiper from the display’s
c o n fi g u r a t i o n m e n u .

features" section of chapter 9. Refer to the "Steering wheel
controls" section of chapter 3.
When using a trailer connection,
you must add a fuse. Refer to
the "Changing a fuse" section of
chapter 8.
If the coolant temperature warning light
comes on, stop the vehicle and switch
off the engine as soon as possible.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of
the towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pressure.
Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed.
Towbar
We recommend the use of original
PEUGEOT towbars, which have been
tested for endurance from the design
stage of your vehicle.
T o w i n g e q u i p m e n t m u s t b e fi t t e d i n
accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions, with particular attention to
the towing capacities of your vehicle,
the load towed, the nose weight and
t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n n e c t i o n . A s t h i s fi t t i n g
should be carried out by a professional,
we recommend that you entrust the
fi t t i n g o f t h i s e q u i p m e n t t o a P E U G E O T
dealer .
In accordance with the general
instructions referred to above, we draw
your attention to the risk connected
w i t h fi t t i n g a t o w b a r o r o t h e r e l e c t r i c a l
accessory which is not recommended
by the PEUGEOT network . Fitting such
equipment could result in a failure of
your vehicle’s electronic system. Manual adjustment
Adjust your headlamps so as not to
dazzle other road users. Check the
electrical signalling of the trailer.

OTHER ACCESSORIES
These accessories and parts, after
being tested and approved for reliability
and safety, are all adapted to your
vehicle. A wide choice of recommended
accessories and original parts is offered
by the PEUGEOT Marque. To avoid any jamming under the
pedals:
- e n s u r e t h a t t h e m a t a n d i t s fi x i n g s are positioned correctly,
- never place one mat on top of another.
Compatible portable equipment
For the hands-free kit audio

The audio cable for connection to
the auxiliary socket (RCA yellow-red
located in the glove box) is also

the source button, your portable
equipment is ready to operate.
Set the portable equipment to half
volume to avoid saturating the audio
system sound. Then use the audio

wiper from the display

- Insert the key then turn it to the left.
- Remove the cap and attach it to the c l i p l o c a t e d o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p .
FILLING THE FUEL TANK
W h e n t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p i s o p e n , a
system limits the opening of the
rear left sliding side door.
The key cannot be removed from the
c a p ’ s l o c k u n t i l t h e c a p i s r e fi t t e d o n
the tank.
FUEL CIRCUIT DISARMED
In a serious collision, a mechanism
automatically prevents fuel from
reaching the engine.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g
light is accompanied by a
message on the display.
When the tank’s minimum
level is reached, this warning
light comes on, accompanied
by the message "Fuel
level low" on the display.
You have enough fuel left to cover
approximately 30 miles (50 km) ,
depending on driving conditions and
the engine.
I f t h e w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s , t h i s
indicates a fuel gauge malfunction.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
DIESEL REPRIMING PUMP
If you should run out of fuel, it is
necessary to re-prime the circuit:
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual re-priming pump, under the bonnet
under the protective cover, until fuel
appears in the transparent pipe,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
A l a b e l o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p
indicates which type of fuel to use.
I f y o u fi l l y o u r t a n k , d o n o t c o n t i n u e
after the third cut-off of the pump
nozzle. This could result in vehicle
malfunctions.
The capacity of the tank is
approximately 18 gallons (
80 litres).
- A f t e r fi l l i n g t h e t a n k , l o c k t h e c a p a n d c l o s e t h e fl a p . Check that there is no odour or
leakage of fuel outside the vehicle and
re-establish the fuel supply:
switch off the ignition
(STOP position).
remove the key.
put the key back in the ignition.
switch on the ignition and start.

Opening the bonnet
OPENING THE BONNET
From inside:
- lift the cover located at the left foot of the passenger seat.
- pull the control upwards. "Bonnet open" warning
This warning is linked to the
alarm
option only.
With the engine running or the vehicle
moving, a graphic on the display,
accompanied by an audible signal,
warns you that the bonnet is not
properly closed.
From outside:
- lift the catch and raise the bonnet.
Bonnet strut
Secure the strut to hold the bonnet
open.
Before closing the bonnet, replace the
strut in its housing.
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at the
end of its travel. Check that the bonnet
is properly locked.

Levels
CHECKS
Cooling system
O n l y u s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
manufacturer.
Otherwise, you risk seriously damaging
your engine.
When the engine is warm,
the temperature of the coolant is
controlled by the engine fan. As this
fan can operate with the ignition key
removed and because the cooling
system is pressurised, wait for at least
one hour after the engine has stopped
before carrying out any work.
Slacken the cap by 1/4 of a turn to
release the pressure to prevent any
risk of scalding. When the pressure
has dropped, remove the cap and top
up the level with coolant.
I f fl u i d h a s t o b e a d d e d f r e q u e n t l y ,
this indicates a failure which must be
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer as
soon as possible. Power steering fluid level
The vehicle must be parked on
level ground with the engine cold.
Unscrew the cap integrated with the
gauge and check the level which must
be between the MIN and MAX marks.
During regeneration of the particle
e m i s s i o n fi l t e r , r e l a y n o i s e m a y b e
heard under the fascia.
If the message is still displayed and
the service warning light remains on,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer .
Diesel additive level (Diesel with
particle emission filter)
When this occurs with the engine
running, this is due to the start of
saturation of the particle emission
fi l t e r ( e x c e p t i o n a l l y p r o l o n g e d u r b a n
driving conditions: low speed, long
t r a f fi c j a m s , . . . ) .
I n o r d e r t o r e g e n e r a t e t h e fi l t e r , y o u
are advised to drive at a speed of
more than 40 mph (60 km/h) as soon
a s p o s s i b l e , w h e n t r a f fi c c o n d i t i o n s
p e r m i t , f o r a t l e a s t fi v e m i n u t e s
(until the message disappears and the
service warning light is switched off).
Topping up
The level must be between the MIN
and MAX marks on the expansion
b o t t l e . I f m o r e t h a n 1 l i t r e o f fl u i d i s
required to top up the level, have
the system checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer . Windscreen wash and headlamp
wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you use
products of the PEUGEOT range.
To avoid ice forming, do not use water.
Topping up
It is imperative that this additive is
topped up by a PEUGEOT dealer
without delay.
Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with the skin.

very corrosive.
Do not dispose of used oil, brake
fl u i d o r c o o l a n t i n t o d r a i n s o r o n t o
the ground but into the containers
dedicated to this use at PEUGEOT
dealerships .
The minimum level of this
additive is indicated by
lighting of the service warning
light, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message
on the display.

Battery
ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped,
with the key in the ignition position,
certain functions (windscreen wiper,
electric windows, courtesy lights, audio
equipment, etc.) can only be used for a
cumulative duration of thirty minutes,
to prevent discharging the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, the
message "Economy mode active"
appears on the display and the active
functions are put on standby.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few seconds.
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e e n g i n e
from starting.
To charge the battery using a
battery charger
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use
given by the battery charger
manufacturer,
- Reconnect starting with the negative (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and connectors are clean. If they
are covered with sulphate
(white or greenish deposit),
disconnect them and clean them.
BATTERY
This is housed in a compartment
l o c a t e d u n d e r n e a t h t h e fl o o r , i n f r o n t o f
the driver's seat.
Before disconnecting the battery, you
must wait for 2 minutes after switching
off the ignition.
Never disconnect a terminal when the
engine is running.
N e v e r c h a r g e a b a t t e r y w i t h o u t fi r s t
disconnecting the terminals.
Close the sunroof and the
windows before disconnecting the
battery. If they do not operate normally
following reconnection of the battery,
they must be reinitialised. It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is not to be
used for a period of more than
one month.
After every reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to allow the electronic
systems to be initialised. If slight
d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d a f t e r t h i s ,
please contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
The door open monitoring electrical
system consumes power, remember
to close the sliding doors when your
vehicle is parked for long periods.
To start the vehicle from
another battery
- Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminals of the two
batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-)
terminal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green or black cable to an earth point on
the broken down vehicle as far as
possible from the battery,
- Operate the starter, let the engine run,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables. For the sunroofs safety
auto-reverse, refer to the
"Accesses" section of chapter 2. For the electric windows safety
auto-reverse, refer to the "Mirrors
and windows" section of chapter 3.
