Seat belts
82 T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a d e v i c e
which automatically locks the strap in
the event of a collision or emergency
braking or if the vehicle rolls over.
You can unfasten the seat belt by
pressing the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt after unfastening.
The air bag warning light comes on
if the pretensioners are triggered.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
In order to be effective, a seat belt
m u s t :
- restrain one person only,
- must not be twisted, check by pulling in front of you with an even
movement,
- be tightened as close to the body as possible.
The upper part of the seat belt should
be positioned in the hollow of the
shoulder.
The lap part should be placed as low
as possible on the pelvis.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e c o m p l e t e l y .
I f t h e s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a r m r e s t s , t h e
lap part of the seat belt should always
pass under the armrest.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
c o r r e c t l y b y p u l l i n g t h e s t r a p fi r m l y . Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the
passenger is less than 12 years old
o r s h o r t e r t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y ,
- never allow a child to travel on your lap, even with the seat belt
fastened.
For further information regarding
child seats, refer to the "Children
on board" section of chapter 4.
Clean the seat belt straps with
soapy water or a textile cleaning
product, sold by PEUGEOT
dealers.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, your PEUGEOT dealer
guarantees all work or any checks,
from testing to maintenance, on your
seat belt equipment.
Have the seat belts checked regularly
( e v e n a f t e r a m i n o r i m p a c t ) b y a
P E U G E O T d e a l e r : t h e y m u s t n o t s h o w
any signs of wear, cutting or fraying
and they must not be transformed or
m o d i fi e d . Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h
pretensioners and force limiters.
The seat belt associated with the centre
seat of the front bench does not have a
pretensioner.

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Although one of PEUGEOT's main
criteria when designing your vehicle,
the safety of your children also
depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow
t h e s e p r e c a u t i o n s :
- all children under the age of 12 or l e s s t h a n o n e m e t r e fi f t y t a l l m u s t
travel in approved child seats suited
t o t h e i r w e i g h t , o n s e a t s fi t t e d w i t h
a seat belt or ISOFIX mountings.
- statistically, the safest seats in your vehicle for the transportation of
children are the rear seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg must travel in the "rearwards-
facing" position both in the front
and in the rear,
- the passenger must not travel with a child on his lap. INSTALLING A CHILD SEAT USING A THREE POINT SEAT BELT
"Rearwards-facing"
Recommended on the rear seats up to
the age of 2.
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat, it
is essential that the passenger air bag
is disarmed. Otherwise, the child would
risk being seriously injured or killed if
t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
"Forwards-facing"
Recommended on the rear seats over
the age of 2.
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat,
leave the passenger air bag armed.
The rules for transporting children

your country.

The child seats function and the
passenger air bag disarming
function are common to the entire
PEUGEOT range.
If the passenger air bag is not
disarmed, the installation of a
"rearwards-facing" child seat in the
front is strictly prohibited. UNIVERSAL CHILD SEATS RECOMMENDED BY PEUGEOT
PEUGEOT offers a complete range of recommended child seats which a

secured using a three point seat belt :
Group 0: from birth to 10 kg
Group 0+: from birth to 13 kg

Installed in the rear-facing position.
Groups 1, 2 and 3: from 9 to 36 kg
