Opening the bonnet

OPENING THE BONNET
Bonnet strut
Secure the strut in its location,
i d e n t i fi e d b y a s t i c k e r o n t h e l e f t - h a n d
panel side of the vehicle, to hold the
bonnet open.
Before closing the bonnet, put the strut
b a c k i n i t s c l i p w i t h o u t u s i n g e x c e s s i v e
force.
On the outside
Raise the bonnet slightly by reaching
i n a fl a t h a n d , p a l m d o w n , t o m a k e
access to the lever easier.
With this hand, push the lever to the
left. Raise the bonnet.
On the inside
Pull the lever under the fascia panel
t o w a r d s y o u . T h e b o n n e t i s u n l o c k e d .
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at the
e n d o f i t s t r a v e l . C h e c k t h a t t h e b o n n e t
i s l o c k e d .
Avoid manoeuvring the bonnet in
strong winds.

A l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used.
W h e n fi l l i n g t h e f u e l t a n k , d o n o t
c o n t i n u e a f t e r t h e 3 r d c u t - o f f o f t h e
nozzle. This could cause malfunctions.
T h e c a p a c i t y o f t h e f u e l t a n k i s
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 6 0 l i t r e s .
- A f t e r fi l l i n g t h e f u e l t a n k , l o c k t h e c a p a n d c l o s e t h e fl a p .
FUEL CIRCUIT DISARMED
In a serious collision, a mechanism
automatically prevents fuel from
reaching the engine.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g
light is accompanied by a
message on the display.
C h e c k t h a t t h e r e i s n o o d o u r o r
l e a k a g e o f f u e l o u t s i d e t h e v e h i c l e a n d
r e - e s t a b l i s h t h e f u e l s u p p l y :
- s w i t c h o f f t h e i g n i t i o n
( S T O P p o s i t i o n ) .
- r e m o v e t h e k e y .
- p u t t h e k e y b a c k i n t h e i g n i t i o n .
- s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n a n d s t a r t .
DIESEL REPRIMING PUMP
If you should run out of fuel, it is
n e c e s s a r y t o r e - p r i m e t h e c i r c u i t :
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- s q u e e z e a n d r e l e a s e t h e m a n u a l r e - p r i m i n g p u m p , u n d e r t h e b o n n e t
under the protective cover,
- o p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r u n t i l t h e e n g i n e starts.
Refer to the "Under the bonnet"
section of chapter 6.
W h e n fi l l i n g w i t h f u e l , w i t h t h e f u e l
fi l l e r fl a p o p e n , e n s u r e t h a t n o o n e
attempts to open the sliding side
door.
W h e n t h e m i n i m u m f u e l t a n k
level is reached, this warning
light comes on.
You then have approximately 8 litres
of fuel remaining. Fill up without delay
to avoid running out of fuel.

- i n t h e l o w e r p a r t o f t h e f a s c i a o n t h e left-hand side (behind the cover),
- under the bonnet (near the battery).

T h e i n d i c a t i o n s c o m m u n i c a t e d a r e o n l y
those fuses which can be changed
b y t h e u s e r u s i n g t h e p l i e r s a n d t h e
s p a r e f u s e s , l o c a t e d b e h i n d t h e f a s c i a
s t o r a g e c o m p a r t m e n t o n t h e r i g h t -
hand side. For any other work, visit a

Removing and fitting a fuse
Always replace a faulty fuse with a
fuse of the same rating.
