COOLANT TEMPERATURE INDICATOR

With the engine running, when the needle is:

-   in zone  A
, the temperature is correct,

-   in zone  B
, the temperature is too high; the maximum temperature
warning lamp and the central STOP
 warning lamp come on,
accompanied by an audible signal and an alert message in the
screen.

You MUST stop as soon as it is safe to do so.

ENGINE OIL LEVEL INDICATOR

This information is displayed for a few seconds when the ignition is
switched on, at the same time as the service information.
  The vehicle must be on level ground and the engine must have
been off for more than 30 minutes for this level check to be
accurate. After driving for a few minutes, the temperature and pressure in the
cooling system increase.
  To top up the level:

 )
  wait for the engine to cool,

 )
  unscrew the cap by two turns to allow the pressure to drop,

 )
  when the pressure has dropped, remove the cap,

 )
  top up the level to the "MAX" mark.

Oil level correct

This is indicated by the fl ashing of "OIL"
 or an alert message in the
instrument panel, accompanied by illumination of the service warning
lamp and an audible signal.
  If the lack of oil is confi rmed by a check using the dipstick, it is essential
that the level is topped up to prevent damage to the engine.
  This is indicated by the fl ashing of "OIL--"
 or the appearance of an alert
message in the instrument panel. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.

Lack of oil

Oil level indicator fault
Dipstick

Refer to the "Checks" section to locate the dipstick and the oil fi ller cap
on your engine.
  There are 2 marks on the dipstick:

-   A
 = max; never exceed this level (risk of damage
to the engine),

-   B
 = min; top up the level via the oil fi ller cap, using
the correct grade of oil for your engine.

SERVICE INDICATOR

This information is displayed for a few seconds when the ignition is
switched on. It informs the driver when the next service is due, in
accordance with the manufacturer's servicing schedule.
  The point at which the service is due is calculated from the last indicator
zero reset. It is determined by two parameters:

-   the distance travelled,

- the time elapsed since the last service.

More than 1 800 miles (3 000 km) remain before the next service is due

When the ignition is switched on, no service information appears on the
instrument panel central screen.

Between 600 miles (1 000 km) and 1 800 miles (3 000 km)
remain before the next service is due
  For 7 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the spanner symbolising
the service operations comes on. The instrument panel central screen
indicates the distance remaining before the next service is due.

Example:
 1 700 miles remain before the next service is due.
  For 7 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the central screen
indicates:

Less than 600 miles (1 000 km) remain before the next service is due

Example:
 500 miles remain before the next service is due.
  For 7 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the central screen
indicates:

The spanner remains on
 in the small screen
to indicate that a service must be carried out
soon.
Page 38 of 336

36

Service overdue

For 7 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the spanner fl ashes
 to
indicate that the service must be carried out as soon as possible.

Example:
 the service is overdue by 300 miles.
  For 7 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the central screen indicates:

The spanner remains
  on
 in the small screen
to indicate that a service should have been
carried out.
  The distance remaining may be weighted by the time factor,
depending on the driver's driving habits.
  Therefore, the spanner may also come on if you have exceeded
the one year service interval.

Service indicator zero reset

Retrieving the service information

You can access the service information at any time.
  This information appears when running through the manual check
procedure.

 )
 Briefl y press the  "CHECK/000"
 button.
  The service information is displayed for a few seconds on the
instrument panel central screen, then disappears.

    Following this operation, if you wish to disconnect the battery, lock
the vehicle and wait at least fi ve minutes for the zero reset to be
registered. After each service, the service indicator must be reset to zero.
  The procedure for resetting to zero is as follows:

 )
  switch off the ignition,

 )
  press and hold the  "CHECK/000"
 button,

 )
  switch on the ignition; the distance recorder display begins a
countdown,

 )
  when the instrument panel central screen indicates "=0"
, release
the button; the spanner disappears from the small screen.

ALARM *
  System which protects and provides a deterrent against theft and
break-ins. It provides the following types of monitoring.

- exterior perimeter

The system checks for opening of the vehicle.
  The alarm is triggered if anyone tries to open a door, the boot, the
bonnet...

- interior volumetric

The system checks for any variation in the volume in the passenger compartment.

The alarm is triggered if anyone breaks a window, enters the passenger
compartment or moves inside the vehicle.

- tilt

The system checks for any change in the attitude of the vehicle.
  The alarm is triggered if the vehicle is lifted, moved or knocked.

 CHECKING LEVELS

OIL LEVEL

The check is carried out either when the ignition is switched
on using the oil level indicator in the instrument panel, or using
the dipstick.
  It will only be correct if the vehicle is on level ground and the engine
has been off for more than 30 minutes.
Take care when working under the bonnet, as certain areas of the engine may be extremely hot (risk of burns) and the cooling fan could start
at any time (even with the ignition off).

If a level drops signifi cantly, have the corresponding system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
  Check all of these levels regularly, in line with the servicing booklet and the requirements of the warranties. Top them up if necessary, unless otherwise indicated.

Engine oil change

Refer to the servicing and warranty booklet for details of the interval
for this operation.
  In order to maintain the reliability of the engine and emission control
system, the use of additives in the engine oil is prohibited. It is normal to top up the oil level between two services (or oil
changes). PEUGEOT recommends that you check the level, and
top up if necessary, every 3 000 miles (5 000 kms).
  After topping up the oil, the check when switching on the ignition with
the oil level indicator in the instrument panel is not valid during the
30 minutes after topping up.

Oil specification

The oil must be the correct grade for your engine and conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations.

BRAKE FLUID LEVEL

The brake fl uid level should be close to the "MAX" mark.
If it is not, check the brake pad wear.

Changing the fluid

Refer to the servicing and warranty booklet for details of the interval
for this operation.

Fluid specification

The brake fl uid must conform to the manufacturer's recommendations
and meet the DOT3 or DOT4 standard.

POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL

The power steering fl uid level should be close to the "MAX"
mark. With the engine cold, unscrew the cap to check the level.
