Beforetheoillevelismeasured,theengineoil
hastohaveflowedbackintotheoilpan.
Thetimetakenfortheengineoiltoflowback
dependsontheenginetemperatureandhow
longtheenginehasbeenstopped.
Thiswaitingtimeiscounteddowninthe
on-boardcomputerdisplaywhentheignitionis
switchedon.Theoilleveldisplaysegmentsstart
to"cycle".

Itisbesttomeasuretheengineoillevelwiththe
engineatoperatingtemperature.Correctmeas-
urementsandshortwaitingtimesareachieved
inthisway.
Initiatingoillevelmeasurement
I>Switchignitionon(donotstarttheengine).
Theengine-oillevelmeasurementdisplay
appearsintheon-boardcomputer.
I>Allowwaitingtimetoelapse.
Oncethemeasurementhasbeencompleted,
youcanreadofftheengineoillevelontheseg-
mentdisplay.
Iftheoillevelhasfallenbelowthemin.mark,
thesegmentbelowthemin.markflashes.
Thedifferencebetweenthemin.andmax.
marksonthesegmentdisplayisapprox.1.25
litres.
Onesegmentofthedisplaycorrespondstoa
quantityofapprox.0.2litre.

Beforeaddingoil,switchignitionoff.
Neveraddmoreengineoilthanrequiredto
reachthemax.mark.

Oillevelmeasurementduringrefuelling

Theoillevelisautomaticallymeasuredduring
refuelling.Iftheoillevelistoolow,"Checkoil
level"appearsintheon-boardcomputerdisplay.
However,thismeasurementisperformedonlyif
thefollowingpreconditionsaremet:
Engineisatoperatingtemperature,ignitionis
off,refuellingiscompletedwithin15minutes.
Failure
Afailureoftheoilleveldisplayisindicatedbya
warningmessageintheon-boardcomputer.

AirFilter
Adirtyairfilternotonlyreducesengineperfor-
mance,butcanleadtoprematureenginewear.
Regularfilterreplacementispartoftheroutine
maintenanceservice.
t>Industyconditions,checkthefilterelement
morefrequentlyandreplaceifnecessary.
ParticleFilter
Thefreshairpassingthroughtheparticlefilter
intothepassengercompartmentisvirtuallyfree
ofdustandpollen.
t>Iftheoutsideairispollutedbyexhaustfumes,
pressthecirculating-airbutton.
Adirtyfiltercanbethecauseofreducedair
flow:
t>Havefilterreplacedbyyourauthorized

Regularfilterreplacementispartoftheroutine
maintenanceservice.
AutomaticTransmissionFluid
Thetorqueconverterandthetransmissionare
lubricatedwithAutomaticTransmissionFluid
(ATF).Thefinaldriverequirestransmissionoil.

Donottowthecarorruntheenginewithout
ATFinthetransmission.Theautomatictrans-
missionmaybedamagedbyevenatinyspeck
ofdirt,onlyacleanfunnelorspoutmustbe
usedwhenaddingATF.
TheATFandtransmissionoilhastobechecked
andchangedattheintervalslistedinyourMain-
tenanceSchedule.
WerecommendthatyouhavetheATFandtrans-
missionoilchangedatyourPorschedealer,who
hastherequiredlubricantsandthenecessary
fillingequipment.
Ifyoususpectanoilleakinthetransmission,
haveyourauthorizedPorschedealercheckit
outimmediately.

Thetransmissionoilhastobecheckedand
changedattheintervalslistedinyourMainten-
anceSchedule.See"Capacities".
Werecommendthatyouhavethetransmission
oilchangedatyourPorschedealer,whohasthe
requiredlubricantsandthenecessaryfilling
equipment.
Ifyoususpectanoilleakinthetransmission,
haveyourauthorizedPorschedealercheckit
outimmediately.
