Any uncontrolled movementofthe vehicle
may result inserious personal injuryand
property damage.
Never leaveyourvehicle unattended withthe
key inthe ignition lock,especially ifchildren
and/or petsareleftunattended inthe vehi-
cle. They canoperate powerwindows and
other controls. Ifthe engine isleft running,
they mayaccidentally engagetheshift lever.

The
remote-control standbyfunction
switches offafter 5days
If the vehicle isnot started orunlocked withthere-
mote control withinfivedays, theremote control
standby function isswitched off(toprevent dis-
charging ofthe vehicle battery).
1. In
this case, unlock thedriver's doorwiththe
key atthe door lock.
Leave thedoor closed inorder toprevent the
alarm system frombeing triggered.
2. Press button 1on the remote control.

Unlocking thevehicle byusing thekey inthe door
lock andopening thedoor mayactivate thealarm
system within10seconds.
Automatic relocking
If the car isunlocked byremote controlandnone
of the cardoors isopened withinapprox.
60 seconds, automatic relockingtakesplace.
This relocking timecanbeadapted toyour individ-
ual requirements (4-120 seconds) byanautho-
rized Porsche dealer.
Locking
conditions
~ Lock car
once.
The doors cannot beopened fromtheoutside.
Alarm system andinfrared passenger com-
partment monitoring areswitched on.
If a person oranimal remains inthe vehicle:
~ Quickly lockcar
twice.
The doors cannot beopened fromtheoutside.
The infrared passenger compartment monitor-
ing isswitched off.
Unlocking thedoor withtheinner door
handle
Any person remaining inthe locked carcan open
the door withtheinner doorhandle:
1. Pull inner doorhandle oncetounlock door
lock.
2. Pull inner doorhandle againtoopen door.
Note
~ Inform anyperson remaining inthe carthat the
alarm system willbetriggered ifthe door is
opened.

Emergency operation-opening

Unlock thedriver's doorwiththekey atthe
door lock.
Open thedoor andswitch theignition onwithin
10 seconds inorder toprevent thealarm sys-
tem from being triggered.
Emergency operation-closing
I>
Quickly turnthekey inthe driver's doorlockto
the lock position
threetimes
insuccession.
If there isadefect inthe central locking sys-
tem, allfunctioning elementsofthe central
locking systemwillbelocked.
The alarm system isswitched on.
The infrared passenger compartment monitor-
ing system isswitched off.
The fault should beremedied immediately atan
authorized Porschedealer.
Indication byemergency flasherand
alarm horn
If the
remote control
isused forunlocking or
locking, aresponse isprovided bythe emergency
flasher:
- Unlocking -single flash.
- Locking -double flash.
- Locking twice-continuous illuminationforap-
prox. 2seconds andshort alarm-horn signal.

Central locking
switch
The central locking switchonthe dashboard lets
you lock andunlock bothdoors electrically.
Note
If the doors arelocked withthekey orremote con-
trol, they cannotbeopened bypressing thecen-
trallocking switch.

Press therocker-switch indicatorlight.
Indicator lightgoes out.
If the doors werelocked withthecentral locking
switch, theycanbeopened bypulling theinner
door handle:
1. Pull inner doorhandle oncetounlock door
lock.
2. Pull inner doorhandle againtoopen door.

Automaticdoorlocking
Your authorized Porschedealercanprogram di-
verse typesofautomatic doorlocking inthe con-
trol unit ofthe central locking system:
Type 1
Doors lockautomatically whentheignition is
switched on.
Type
2
Doors lockautomatically whenaspeed of
3 -6 mph (5-10 km/h) isexceeded.
Type
3
Doors lockautomatically whentheignition is
switched on.Ifdoors areopened withtheengine
running, theylockagain automatically whena
speed of3-6 mph (5-10 km/h) isexceeded.
Type 4
The doors donot lock automatically.
Note
Automatically lockeddoorscanbeunlocked with
the central locking buttonoropened bypulling on
the inside doorhandle twice.

In an emergency situationwhereyouneed to
exit thecarthrough anautomatically locked
door, remember thefollowing procedure to
open thedoor.

Unlock thedoors bypressing thecentral lock-
ing button

Fault indication
A double
hornsignal
duringlocking indicates a
defect inthe central locking oralarm system.
Have thedefect remedied atan authorized
Porsche dealer.
Overload protection
If the central locking system isoperated more
than tentimes within aminute, furtheroperation is
blocked for30seconds.

attended byaresponsible person.

is not changed bydisconnecting thebattery.
When thebattery isdisconnected, thealarm sys-
tem ceases tofunction.
Overload protection
If the central locking systemisoperated more
than tentimes within aminute, furtheroperation is
blocked for30seconds.

switched onorinstandby (e.g.power windows,

Replacing theremote-control battery
A weak battery mayberecognized bythe clearly
reduced actionrangeofthe remote controlor
when the
light-emitting diode2
inthe key grip
no longer flashes whentheremote controlis
operated. 1.
Using yourfinger nailorasmall screwdriver,
carefully liftoff the cover ofthe key grip.
2. Replace battery(observe polarity).
A spare battery (Lithium CR2032, 3volts) is
available atyour authorized Porschedealer.
3. Replace coverandpress together firmly.
