Dependingonthewaythevehicleisdrivenandontheresistance(e.g.uphill),thegear-changingpointsareshiftedtowardshigherorlowerengine-speedranges.Theacceleratorposition,drivingspeed,enginespeed,longitudinalandlateralaccelerationandtheroadprofileallhaveaninfluenceonthegear-changingcharacteristic.
Unwantedupwardshifts,e.g.beforebends,arepreventedbyswiftlyreleasingtheacceleratorpedal.
Dependingonlateralacceleration,upwardshiftsonbendsarenotmadeuntiltheengine-speedlimitisreached.
Underbraking,anddependingontheamountofdeceleration,theTiptronicshiftsdownearlier.Forsubsequentcornering,therightgearisengagedwhenpressureisappliedtothebrakesbeforethebend.Thebendistakenintherightgear,andwhenyouaccelerateoutofthebendyoudonothavetoshiftdown.

Thelongersalt,roaddustandindustrialdust,deadinsects,birddroppingsorsubstancesfromtrees(resin,pollen)areallowedtoremainonthebodywork,themoreseriousistheirharmfuleffect.
Newcarsshouldbewashedcarefullywithplentyofclearwatertoprotectthenewpaintwork.Darkpaintfinishesshowupthesmallestofsurfacedamage(e.g.,scratches)morereadilythanlightercolors.
Darkcolorsarealsomoresusceptibletoscratch-ingbecauseofthecompositionoftheirpigmentsandrequireparticularlycarefulpaintcare.

Polisheswhichdissolveoxides,suchasthosefrequentlyusedforothermetals,orabrasivetoolsoragentsareunsuitablebecausetheybreakdowntheoxidelmoftheprotectivecoatingandwillcausediscolorationofthewheel.
Everythreemonths,aftercleaning,coatthewheelswithacarwaxornon-corrosivegrease(vaseline).Usingacleancloththoroughlyrubthegreaseintothesurface.

Thenaturalsurfacemarkingsofleather,e.g.creases,healedscars,insectstingmarks,structuraldifferencesandslightvariationsinshadeandgrainaddtotheattractivenessofthenaturalleatherproduct.
