2. Switch on interior lighting by moving switch C
to the left.
3. Remove ignition key.
On vehicles with Porsche Entry & Drive:
Switch off the ignition.
4. Open the driver‘s door.
The symbol on the top half of the rocker switch
flashes.5. Press the flashing top half of rocker switch un-
til the upper symbol lights permanently.
6. Lock the vehicle.
Emergency flasher flashes twice and an acous-
tic signal will sound twice.
The vehicle doors, the rear lid and the rear window
are locked but the doors can be opened from the
inside by pulling the inner door handle twice.
fInform any persons remaining in the vehicle
that the alarm system will be triggered if the
door is opened.
Note on operation
If the ignition is switched on after pressing the
rocker switch, the passenger compartment moni-
toring system is activated again. The symbols on
the rocker switch will flash.1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Switch on interior lighting by moving switch C

Fault indication
If the monitoring system and the inclination sensor
could not be deactivated the symbols on the rock-
er switch will flash (e.g. the rocker switch is
pressed with the ignition on).
For deactivating the passenger compartment
monitoring and inclination sensor:
fSwitch on interior lighting.
fSwitch off ignition.
fPress the rocker switch.
fLock the vehicle.

– ParkAssist cannot detect sound-absorbing ob-
stacles (e.g. powder snow),
– Sound-reflecting obstacles (e.g. glass surfac-
es, flat painted surfaces),
– And very thin obstacles.
Other ultrasound sources (e.g. pneumatic brakes
of other vehicles, jackhammers) can interfere with
detection of obstacles.
Fault indication without warning tone
All red light segments of the active warning indica-
tors light up when there is a temporary fault in
ParkAssist.
Note
Correct operation is no longer ensured if there is
a temporary fault (e.g. caused by ice formation or
heavy soiling on the sensors).
The system detects the temporary fault.
All light segments light up until a speed of
9mph (14km/h) is reached.
ParkAssist is ready for operation again when the
interference has been eliminated.Fault indication with warning tone
In the event of a long-lasting fault in ParkAssist,
the red light segments of the active warning indi-
cators light up and a continuous tone sounds for
three seconds after a transmission range has
been selected.
Possible causes
– Defect or system fault.
fSwitch ParkAssist off.
When ParkAssist is switched off, the indicator
light in the button lights up.
fPlease have the fault remedied at an author-
ized Porsche dealer.Driving with a trailer
The ParkAssist rear monitoring area is switched
off when the trailer’s power supply is plugged in.

Trailer Coupling
Warning!
Risk of accident.
fFollow the operating instructions for the trailer
recommended by the trailer manufacturer.
fDo not modify or repair the trailer coupling.
fBefore having new ADAPTER fitted, find out
from your authorized Porsche dealer about the
current authorization status.fUse only ADAPTER makes tested and ap-
proved by Porsche.
fEnsure that all trailer equipment conforms to
the appropriate classification for total gross
trailer weight and tongue weight.
fPlease observe the chapter “WEIGHTS” on
Page 387.
fPlease observe the chapter “LOADING INFOR-
MATION” on Page 213.
RetrofittingHave a trailer coupling retrofitted only by an au-
thorized Porsche dealer. The dealer is familiar with
the manufacturer's specifications and any neces-
sary conversion measures.Electrical connectionYour Porsche is equipped with a 7-pin connector A
for the electrical connection to the trailer.
Warning!
Risk of accident. Failure to keep an electrical
adapter clean may result in corrosion and af-
fect operation of electrical lines, resulting in
possible trailer brake system failure.
fPeriodically inspect and clean adapter as needed.
Hitching trailerfAlways turn off the alarm system before you at-
tach a trailer. The inclination sensor could trig-
ger the alarm unintentionally.
fFollow the operating instructions for the trailer
recommended by the trailer manufacturer.
fPlease observe the chapter “WEIGHTS” on
Page 387.Unhitching trailerfIf the trailer is equipped with an overrun brake,
do not unhitch the trailer when its brake is still
applied.

Shifting Gear, Traction Systems
Porsche Stability Management (PSM)PSM is an active control system for stabilisation of
the vehicle during extreme driving maneuvres. It
operates together with the Porsche Traction
Management (PTM) system.
PSM makes use of both the ABD and TCS sys-
tems, as well as the known functions of the anti-
lock brake system (ABS) and engine drag torque
control system (MSR).
Warning!
In spite of the advantages of PSM, it is still the driv-
er’s responsibility to adapt his driving style and
maneuvres in line with road and weather condi-
tions, as well as the traffic situation.
The increased safety that is provided should not in-
duce you to take greater risks with your safety.
The limits set by the physics of driving cannot be
overcome, even with PSM.
Risks of accident due to inappropriate speed
cannot be reduced by PSM.Advantages of PSM
– Best possible traction and lane-holding ability
in all driving situations – even on road surfaces
with varying friction.
– The system compensates for undesired vehi-
cle reactions (load-alteration effect) when the
driver releases the accelerator pedal or brakes
on corners. This compensation functions up to
the maximum lateral acceleration.
– PSM actively stabilises the vehicle in the event
of under and oversteering during dynamic
driving maneuvres (e.g. rapid steering move-
ments, during lane changes or on alternating
corners).
– Improved braking stability on corners and on
different or varying road surfaces.Readiness for operation
PSM is switched on automatically every time you
start the engine.
Function
Sensors at the wheels, brakes, steering system
and engine continuously measure:
–Driving speed
– Direction of travel
– Lateral acceleration
– Longitudinal acceleration
– Rate of turn about the vertical axis
PSM uses these values to determine the direction
of travel desired by the driver.
PSM intervenes and corrects the course if the ac-
tual direction of motion deviates from the desired
course (steering-wheel position):
It brakes individual wheels as needed. If neces-
sary, PSM additionally influences the engine power
or the gear-changing characteristic of the Tiptron-
ic in order to stabilise the vehicle.

High-pressure cleaning units
Warning!
High-pressure cleaning units can damage
the following components:
–Tires
– Logos, emblems
– Painted surfaces
– Widened fenders
– Lock and latch of the removable towing attach-
ment
– Seals of the electrically retractable ball hitch
– Alternator, valve covers
– ParkAssist sensors
fPlease observe the operating instructions from
the unit manufacturer.
fAlways cover the lid over the brake fluid reser-
voir prior to cleaning. Never point the cleaning
jet directly at the lid.
fWhen cleaning with a flat-jet nozzle or the like,
maintain a minimum distance of 21 in.
(50 cm).fNever use high-pressure cleaning units with a
round-jet nozzle.
A high-pressure cleaning unit with round nozzle
will damage your vehicle. The tires are particu-
larly susceptible to damage.
fDo not point the cleaning jet directly at any of
the aforementioned components.
WashingThe best protection for the car from the damaging
effects of the environment is frequent washing and
preservation. The underside of the car should also
be thoroughly washed for cinders, salt or sanding
at winter‘s end.
The longer salt, road dust, industrial dust, insect
remains, bird excrement, and tree exudations (res-
in, pollen), etc. are allowed to remain on the body-
work, the more serious is their harmful effect.
New cars should be washed carefully with plenty
of clear water to protect the new paint work.
Dark paint finishes show up the smallest of sur-
face damage (e.g. scratches) more readily than
lighter colors.
Dark colors are also more susceptible to scratch-
ing because of the composition of their pigments
and require particularly careful paint care.fDo not wash your car in bright sunlight or while
the bodywork is still hot.
fWhen washing by hand, use abundant water, a
soft sponge or wash brush and Porsche car
shampoo.
fBegin by spraying the body thoroughly with wa-
ter to rinse away loose dirt.
fAfter washing, rinse the car with plenty of wa-
ter and then dry with a chamois leather.
Do not use the same chamois leather for dry-
ing as you use for cleaning the windshield and
windows.
Warning!
Moisture which gets on the brakes during a
car wash can reduce braking efficiency or
make the brake pull unevenly which could in-
crease the danger of an accident, causing
serious personal injuries or death.
fAlways apply the brakes a few times after
washing the car to test braking efficiency and
dry the brake discs.
When doing this, take care not to hamper other
road users behind you (traffic conditions per-mitting).
