Concept | The Panamera model range
The rear lid with large glass screen
opens to a wide angle. This
makes
loading easier and im
proves
access to luggage when the vehi -
cle is laden. An automatic rear
lid with customisable opening
angle is available as an option
(p. 131).
The most striking aspect of the
rear is undoubtedly the spoiler
which is integrated into the
rear lid. From a speed of around
55 mph (90 km/ h), it deploys
automatically, as you may already
have suspected. However, on the
Panamera Turbo, it doesn’t stop
there. The spoiler splits in the
middle and extensions deploy to
the left and right, making it con -
siderably wider to further reduce
lift at the rear axle. And from
127 mph (205 km/ h), the spoiler
on all models adjusts to increase
its steepness to produce even
more traction and, as a result,
increased driving stabilit y at high
speeds. The appearance of any Panamera
model can be customised to your
individual taste. The colour palet te
offers no fewer than 17 exterior
colours. In total, there are t wo
solid, ten metallic and five special
colours to choose from. On re
-
quest, you can opt to have your
Panamera model finished in practi -
cally any colour of your choice.
In addition, a wide range of per -
sonalisation options is available.
For more information, please refer
to page 132 onwards.
So you see, whichever way you
look at it, it looks like a Porsche.
And, most importantly, it feels like
one too. Whatever kind of journey you
are making – short or long, for
business or pleasure, or even just
routine driving – the Panamera
offers something a lit tle bit dif
-
ferent.
When you sit inside one of the
Panamera models, four things
immediately stand out: first, the
elevated centre console; second,
the four individual seats; third,
the amount of space in the rear where even taller passengers will
find plent y of leg and head room;
and fourth, the versatilit y of the
luggage compartment thanks to
the folding rear seats.
The ignition lock is, of course,
located on the left-hand side
of the steering wheel, as in all
Porsche vehicles. The instrument
cluster incorporating the central
rev counter is clear and quick
to read.
The four individual seats (p. 104)
are comfortable and of fer good
lateral support. In conjunction
with seat heating, a seat ventila -
tion function is also available as
an option. The electrically adjust -
able 8-way power seats in the
rear (p. 106) are another special
feature available on request.
Why four individual seats?
Because only these satisf y our
requirement for high-perform -
ance driving and a high level of
seating comfort. Conventional
rear bench seats can not fulfil
this requirement and instead
made way for a centre console.
We’ve been playing with the concept of a saloon.
It lost 4:0.

Four doors. Four seats. Eight
cylinders. Up to this point, others
may even have been able to
keep up. But then comes a point
of dif ference in the form of the
Panamera Turbo. It not only joins
a long line of Porsche Turbo
models, it leads the way with its
extensive standard equipment
Meet the pinnacle of the Panamera range.
The Panamera Turbo.
combined with a host of features
that are exclusive to a Turbo.
What about the aesthetics?
19 -inch Panamera Turbo wheels
and red brake calipers, naturally.
Twin dual-tube tailpipes in the
unmistakable Turbo design. Four
LED day time running lights in each headlight unit with separate
direction indicators. The front
apron features horizontal slats
and longitudinal struts in the air
intakes. The air outlets in the wing
behind the front wheels also
have slats. Five, to be exact,
and all in a chrome finish. The auto - deploying t wo -piece rear
spoiler is t ypically characteristic.
The Panamera Turbo is powered
by a 4.8-litre V8 t win -turbo engine
that generates an output of
368 kW (500 hp) and 700 Nm.
The seven-speed Porsche Doppel -
kupplung (PDK, p. 55) is fit ted
as standard, as is Porsche Traction
Management (PTM, p. 60) with
active all-wheel drive and an elec -
tronic and map-controlled multi -
plate clutch.
Performance is exemplary. The
Panamera Turbo races from 0 to
62 mph (100 km/ h) in just 4.2 sec-
onds and has a top speed of
188 mph (303 km/ h).
Also fit ted as standard in the
Panamera Turbo is adaptive air
suspension including Porsche
Active Suspension Management
(PASM) with three damping, sus -
pension and ride-height set tings
ranging from comfort to extra
sport y (p. 66 – 69). Increased
performance or greater comfort?
The choice is yours. Simply press
the but ton.
And what about the interior?
Typically Porsche with all the
usual Turbo features. A perfect
combination of sportiness and
comfort. As standard equipment,
the interior features electrically
adjustable
14-way power seats
with memory package in the front
(p. 104), with seat heating front
and rear.
Also standard are the
smooth-finish leather and walnut
interior packages. Alternatively,
the
anthracite birch, tineo or
brushed aluminium interior
packages are available at no
extra cost.
Moreover, the Porsche Commu -
nication Management (PCM)
with
navigation module – standard
on
all models – has been combined
with the BOSE
® Surround Sound
System (p. 114).
The Burmester®
High-End
Surround Sound System
(p. 116) is also available as an
option.

For saloon drivers, it seems,
the interior is no place for engine
noise. But how important is the
engine to you? We thought so. Just
as important as it is to us. This is
why we – like you – are perfectly
happy with that seductive sound.
We – like you – want to hear that
the Panamera models are unmis -
takably Porsche.
When it comes to the environment,
the facts speak for themselves.
Engines with high ef ficiency and
low fuel consumption. High power
output with comparatively low CO
2
emissions per hp.
Low on weight, too. The light-alloy
engines have cast aluminium pis -
tons (Panamera and Panamera S
models) or forged pistons
(Panamera Turbo), aluminium
one-piece cylinder heads and an aluminium crankcase of closed-
deck construction. The casing
and cooling ducts around the
cylinders form a closed system.
The engines are therefore light-
weight for reduced fuel con-
sumption and have a long service
life.
The V6 engine, which is based on
the V8 engine, additionally fea -
tures a balance shaf t to minimise
vibrations and ensure smooth
running.
An integrated dry-sump lubrication
system guarantees a reliable sup -
ply of oil in all driving situations.
Instead of an external oil tank, the
oil reservoir is located directly
inside the engine, which saves on
space and weight.
Electronic engine management
system.
The electronic engine management
system ensures optimum engine
performance at all times. In par -
Performance | Engines
So you want to satisfy your green credentials
even in the red zone?
Engines.ticular, it evaluates the signals of
the electronic accelerator pedal
(E- Gas) – a prerequisite for Porsche
Stabilit y Management (PSM, p. 72),
which is fit ted as standard. More -
over, it regulates all engine-related
functions and assemblies. The
results: optimum performance
and torque with reduced fuel
consumption and
emissions,
whatever your driving st yle. Another important function is the
cylinder-specific knock control,
which compensates for dif ferent
fuel grades added to the engine.
Since cylinders never all work
under exactly the same conditions,
the ignition point is shifted indi -
vidually, as and when necessary.
The on -board diagnostics ensure
timely detection of any faults and
defects that may occur in the
exhaust and fuel systems and
notif y the driver immediately. This
also prevents increased pollutant
emissions and unnecessary fuel
consumption.

V6 engine
Panamera and Panamera 4: 220 kW (300 hp) at 6,200 rpm, 400 Nm at 3,750 rpm
New V6 engine.
The new Panamera and Panamera 4
models are equipped with an
ef ficient and light weight 3.6 -litre
naturally aspirated V6 engine
based on the V8 power unit. A
balance shaft reduces vibration
to ensure very smooth operation.
Direct fuel injection (DFI) and
VarioCam Plus are featured as
standard. The engine delivers
220 kW (300 hp) at 6,200 rpm.
Maximum torque of 400 Nm is
achieved at 3,750 rpm.
This impressive power output
enables the rear-wheel- drive
Panamera with manual gearbox
to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph
(100 km/ h) in only 6.8 seconds,
with a top speed of 162 mph
(261 km/ h). With the optional
Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK),
these figures are an even more
impressive 6.3 seconds and
161 mph (259 km/ h). Thanks to
PDK and the active all-wheel drive
of Porsche Traction Management
(PTM), the Panamera 4 completes
the sprint in 6.1 seconds and
has a top speed of 159 mph
(257 km/ h).
