STOP AND START function (2/3)
Special cases
In the event of the engine stalling, if the
system is operational, press down the
clutch pedal as far as it will go to restart.
Deactivate the Stop and
Start function for any opera -
tion performed in the engine
compartment.
Conditions preventing the
standby of the engine
Certain conditions prevent the system
from using the engine standby function,
including when:
– reverse gear is engaged;
– the bonnet is not locked;
– the outdoor temperature is too low or
too high (less than around 0 °C or
higher than around 30 °C);
– the battery is not sufficiently charged;
– the difference between the vehicle
interior temperature and the auto -
matic climate control instruction is
too high;
– the “Clear View” function is acti -
vated if fitted on the vehicle (please
see “Automatic Climate Control” in
Section 3); –
the engine coolant temperature is
too low;
– automatic particle filter cleaning is
underway;
or
– ...
To fill up with fuel, the engine must
be stopped (and not on standby):
always stop the engine (please see
“Starting, stopping the engine”).

To open, pull handle 1 , located on the
left-hand side of the dashboard.Unlocking the bonnet catch
Lift the bonnet by several centimetres
and push lever 2 to the left.

Bonnet (1/2)
The engine may be hot
when carrying out opera -
tions in close proximity. In
addition, the engine cooling
fan can come on at any moment.

In the event of an impact,
even slight, against the ra -
diator grille or bonnet, have
the bonnet catch checked
by an approved dealer as soon as
possible.

Start function for any opera -
tion performed in the engine
compartment.

Lift the bonnet up and release stay 4
from its holder 5 . For your own safety,
it is very important to fit the stay into
its retainer 3 . Check that it is correctly
locked.

Ensure that the bonnet is
properly locked.
Check that nothing is pre -
venting the catch from lock-
ing (gravel, cloth, etc.).
After carrying out any work
in the engine compart -
ment, check that nothing
has been left behind (cloth,
tools, etc.).
These may damage the engine or
cause a fire.

Closing the bonnet
Check that nothing has been left in the
engine compartment.
Release the stay 4 and replace it in its
holder 5.
Lower the bonnet and release it when it
is approximately 20 cm from the closed
position. It will latch automatically under
its own weight.

– with the ignition switched off , lift
wiper arm 2 slightly;
– pull tab 1 upwards;
– move the blade in the direction of the
arrow.
For refitting, proceed in the reverse
order and ensure that the blade is cor-
rectly clipped on.
wInDscreen wIPer BlaDes (1/2)
Check the condition of the wiper
blades. You are responsible for their
service life:
– clean the blades, windscreen and
rear screen regularly with soapy
water;
– do not use them when the wind-
screen or rear screen are dry;
– free them from the windscreen or
rear screen when they have not
been used for a long time.

– with the ignition on and the engine
switched off, lower the windscreen
wiper stalk fully: they stop slightly
away from the bonnet;
– lift wiper arm 5 , pull tab 4 (move -
ment A ) and push the blade up -
wards.
t o refit
Slide the blade along the arm until it
clips on. Make sure that the blade is
correctly locked in position. Return the
windscreen wiper stalk to the park po-
sition.

Coolant boiling in the coolant reservoir. Mechanical fault: damaged cylinder
head gasket.Stop the engine.

The oil pressure warning light comes
on: while cornering or braking The level is too low. Top up the engine oil level (refer to the in-

filling” in Section 4).
