ment panel indicates that the engine is
on standby.
The vehicle equipment remain opera -
tional while the engine is stopped.
The engine will restart as soon as you
press the clutch pedal and move into
gear. This system enables a reduced fuel
consumption and lower greenhouse
gas emissions.
The system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
While driving, the system stops the
engine (standby) when the vehicle is
at a standstill (traffic jam, traffic lights,
etc).
System operating conditionsEngine standby is activated if:
– the vehicle has been driven since its
last stop;
– the gearbox is in neutral;
– the clutch pedal is released;
and
– the vehicle is travelling at less than 3
km/h. Special feature of the automatic
engine re-start
Under certain conditions, the engine
can restart on its own in order to guar-
antee your safety and comfort.
This can occur especially when:
–
the outdoor temperature is too low or
too high (less than around 0 °C or
higher than around 30 °C);
– the “Clear View” function is activated
(please see “Automatic Climate
Control” in Section 3);
– the battery is not sufficiently charged;
– the vehicle speed is above 7 km/h
(downhill slope, etc.);
– repeated pressing on the brake
pedal or braking system require -
ment;
– ...
Special feature of vehi -
cles equipped with an
electronic parking brake
If the engine is put on
standby (the message “ Auto Stop”
is displayed on the instrument
panel), the electronic parking brake
is not applied automatically.
Engine on standby - braking
assistance is no longer op-
erational.
Before getting out of the
vehicle, you must switch
off the ignition by pressing
the engine stop (please see
“Starting, stopping the engine”).
Do not drive off when the
engine is on standby (the

Automatic mode
The automatic climate control system
guarantees comfort in the passen -
ger compartment and good visibility
(except in the event of extreme condi -
tions), whilst optimising consumption.
The system controls the ventilation
speed, air distribution, air recircula -
tion, and starting and stopping the air
conditioning and air temperature. This
mode consists of a choice of three pro-
grammes:
A uTo : allows the selected comfort
level to be best attained, depending on
the exterior conditions. Press button 3.
SoFT: gently brings the temperature to
the desired comfort level. The comfort
level is then maintained gently and si -
lently. Press button 2.
FAST: emphasises the actions of the
system to reach the desired comfort
level more quickly. Use this programme
when you have passengers in the rear.
Press button 4.

Temperature adjustment
Press either button 1 or 5 to increase
or decrease the temperature. Pressing
button 3 for more than 2 seconds sets
the passenger temperature to the driv-
er’s temperature.
Special note: the highest and lowest
settings allow the system to produce
maximum hot or cold temperature levels
(“LO” and “HI” display on screen 12).
Stopping the system
Press the bottom of button 11 sev -
eral times to stop the system. To start
it, press the top of switch 11 or one of
switches 2, 3 or 4.7

The displayed temperature values
show a comfort level.
When starting the engine, increas -
ing or decreasing the value dis -
played will not allow the com -
fort level to be reached any more
quickly. The system will always op-
timise the temperature increase or
decrease (the ventilation system
does not start instantly at maximum
speed: it gradually increases). This
may take several minutes.
Generally speaking, unless there is
a particular reason not to, the dash-
board air vents should remain open.
Switching air conditioning on
or off
In automatic mode, the system switches
the air conditioning system on or off,
depending on the climate conditions.
Press button 10 to switch off the air
conditioning.
Varying the ventilation speed
In automatic mode, the system uses
the most suitable amount of air to reach
and maintain the desired comfort level.
You can always adjust the ventilation
speed by pressing on the top or bottom
of button 11 to increase or decrease the
ventilation speed.
In this situation, the ventilation speed,
which is no longer automatically con -
trolled, appears on the display.
Where possible, it is recom -
mended that automatic mode is
used by selecting one of the auto-
matic programmes: AuT o, SoFT
or FAST.
In automatic mode (indicator light
for button 3 on), all heating and air
conditioning functions are controlled
by the system.
You can also change the system
selection, in this case, indicator
light for button 3 will go out and
the changed function, which is no
longer controlled by the system, is
shown on display 12.
To return to automatic mode, press
one of programmes: AuTo , S o FT
or FAST.

Adjusting the distribution
of air in the passenger
compartment
There are seven air distribution options.
Press switch 6 to scroll through them.
The arrows located in area a on the dis-
play 12 combine to show you the distri-
bution selected:
§The air flow is directed towards
the outlet located on the top of
the dashboard (position which allows
the greatest distribution of ventilation).
„the air flow is directed towards
the dashboard air vents (posi-
tion which allows the passenger com -
partment to be heated or cooled as
quickly as possible).
ƒthe air flow is directed mainly
towards the footwells.
‚the air flow is directed towards
the side window and wind -
screen demisting vents (position which
prevents condensation forming).
In this situation, the distribution of air in
the passenger compartment, which is
no longer automatically controlled, ap -
pears on the display.
Rear screen de-icing/
demisting
Press button 7 : the integrated indica -
tor light comes on. This function per -
mits rapid demisting/de-icing of the rear
screen and de-icing of the door mirrors
(on equipped vehicles).

Air recirculation
This function is controlled automati -
cally, but it can also be activated manu-
ally.
Automatic operation
Your system is fitted with a sensor which
measures the air on a quality index. it
may therefore decide to activate air re-
circulation, in this case the integrated
indicator does not come on .Note:
–
during recirculation, air is taken from
the passenger compartment and
is recycled, with no air being taken
from outside the vehicle;
– air recirculation allows the external
atmosphere to be cut off (when driv-
ing in polluted areas, etc.).
Manual use
Pressing button 9 allows air recircula -
tion to be activated, in this case, the
integrated indicator comes on ;
Prolonged use of this position may lead
to odours, caused by non-renewal of
air, and the formation of condensation
on the windows.
We therefore advise you to return to au-
tomatic mode as soon as the air recir-
culation function is no longer required,
by pressing button 9 again.
9
The demisting/de-icing will still take
priority over the air recirculation.
In some situations (high humidity,
etc.) air recirculation is not activated
automatically, to ensure visibility
remains the priority (ventilation is
maintained using air from the out -
side).
In automatic mode (AUTO lit on the
display), all heating and air condi -
tioning functions are controlled by
the system.
When you modify certain functions,
AUTO goes out. Only the modified
function stops being controlled by
the system.
