Airbags and pretensioners: Recycling - Destruction

aConnect:
-the adapter to the destruction tool (Ele. 1287),
-the adapter to the airbag.
aPut the airbag on two wooden blocks.
aThe destruction procedure is carried out in a stack of
old tyres.
aMake sure that the airbag deployment will not be
hindered.
aUnwind the full length of the wiring for the tool, in or-
der to distance it as far away as possible from the
pyrotechnic component to be destroyed.aConnect the two feed wires of the destruction tool
(Ele. 1287) to a battery.
aDestroy the airbag by pressing the two push buttons
on the tool simultaneously.
II - PYROTECHNIC PRETENSIONERS AND INERTIA
REELS
1 - Destruction of part fitted on the vehicle to be
scrapped:
aMove the vehicle outside the workshop.
aMark the adapter corresponding to the pyrotechnic
component to be destroyed.
aConnect:
-the destruction tool (Ele. 1287) to the adapter,
-the adapter to the pyrotechnic component.
aUnwind the tool wiring fully, so that you are far enou-
gh away from the vehicle (approximately ten metres)
when the device is triggered.
aConnect the two feed wires of the destruction tool
(Ele. 1287) to a battery.
aDestroy the pyrotechnic component by pressing the
two push buttons on the tool simultaneously.
2 - Destruction of part removed from the vehicle:
aProceed in the same way as for an airbag (in a stack
of old tyres).
