Content Theft-Deterrent
Your vehicle may have a content theft-deterrent alarm
system.
To activate the theft-deterrent system, do one of the
following:
Press the lock button on the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter when any door is open.
The security light should come on and ash. When
the door is closed, the security light will stop
ashing and stay on solid and then go off after
approximately 30 seconds. The content theft
deterrent alarm is not armed until the security
light goes off.
If the delayed locking feature is active, the alarm will
not be activated until all doors are closed and the
security light goes off.
Press the lock button on the RKE transmitter when
the driver door is closed.
The security light will come on solid for
approximately 30 seconds and then go off. The
content theft deterrent alarm is not armed until the
security light goes off.
If a locked door is opened without using the key in the
driver’s door key cylinder or the RKE transmitter, a
ten second pre-alarm will occur. The horn will chirp and
the lights will ash. If the key is not placed in the
ignition and turned to START or the door is not unlocked
by pressing the unlock button on the RKE transmitter
during the ten second pre-alarm, the alarm will go
off. Your vehicle’s headlamps will ash and the horn will
sound for about two minutes, then will turn off to save
the battery power.
The theft-deterrent system will not activate if the doors
are locked with the vehicle’s key or the manual door
lock. It activates only if you use the power door
lock switch with the door open or the RKE transmitter.
You should also remember that you can start your
vehicle with the correct ignition key if the alarm has been
set off.

Programming the Universal Home
Remote System
For questions or help programming the Universal
Home Remote System, call 1-800-355-3515 or go to
www.homelink.com.
Programming a garage door opener involves
time-sensitive actions, so read the entire procedure
before starting. Otherwise, the device will time out and
the procedure will have to be repeated.
To program up to three devices:
1. From inside the vehicle, press and hold down the
two outside buttons at the same time, releasing
only when the Universal Home Remote indicator
light begins to ash, after 20 seconds. This step
will erase the factory settings or all previously
programmed buttons.Do not hold down the buttons for longer than
30 seconds and do not repeat this step to program
the remaining two Universal Home Remote buttons.
2. Hold the end of your hand-held transmitter about
1 to 3 inches (3 to 8 cm) away from the Universal
Home Remote buttons while keeping the indicator
light in view. The hand-held transmitter was supplied
by the manufacturer of your garage door opener
receiver (motor head unit).
3. At the same time, press and hold both the Universal
Home Remote button to be used to control the
garage door and the hand-held transmitter button.
Do not release the Universal Home Remote
button or the hand-held transmitter button until
Step 4 has been completed.
Some entry gates and garage door openers may
require substitution of Step 3 with the procedure
noted in “Gate Operator and Canadian
Programming” later in this section.
4. The indicator light on the Universal Home Remote
will ash slowly at rst and then rapidly after
Universal Home Remote successfully receives the
frequency signal from the hand-held transmitter.
Release both buttons.

Power Outlet 115 Volt Alternating
Current
For vehicles with this power outlet, it can be used to
plug in electrical equipment that uses a maximum limit of
150 watts.
The power outlet is located
on the rear of the center
console.
An indicator light on the outlet turns on to show it is in
use. The light comes on when the ignition is in ON/RUN
and equipment requiring less than 150 watts is plugged
into the outlet, and no system fault is detected. The indicator light does not come on when the ignition
is in LOCK/OFF or if no equipment is plugged into
the outlet.
If equipment is connected using more than 150 watts or
a system fault is detected, a protection circuit shuts
off the power supply and the indicator light turns off.
To reset the circuit, unplug the item and plug it back in
or turn the Remote Accessory Power (RAP) off and
then back on. SeeRetained Accessory Power (RAP) on
page 2-27. The power restarts when equipment using
150 watts or less is plugged into the outlet and a system
fault is not detected.
The power outlet is not designed for the following
electrical equipment and may not work properly if these
items are plugged into the power outlet:
Equipment with high initial peak wattage such as:
compressor-driven refrigerators and electric
power tools.
Other equipment requiring an extremely stable
power supply such as: microcomputer-controlled
electric blankets, touch sensor lamps, etc.
SeeHigh Voltage Devices and Wiring on page 5-110.
