The LEARN memoryallowsyou to store up to 25 RDS stations
(Radio Data System). These stationscan be tuned by briefly
pressing the and search keys.
Thisfunction makes sense ifyou are moving through a non-
habitualarea and you do
notwish to delete the stationstuned into
the memory keys (1 to 6) you are used to listening to.
LEARN memory use
Press the RDS keyuntilyou hear a confirmation signal.
"LRN" willbe displayed on screen.
The tuner searches the FM band and memorizes the RDS
programm
es (up to a maximum of 25) being broadcastin the area
you are currently.
Next, the set switches over to the best tuning RDS programme.Ifyou also press the TP key you willonlytune in to RDS
programmes broadcasting trafficannouncements.
LEARN memory call up
Press one of the or keys. The screen willb

"RDS SCAN".
Next you will listen to another RDS programme from the LEARN

FM stations Automatic Search tuning
Select the FM1 or FM2 band. The screen will display for instance:
"FM 87.50".
To startautomaticsearch, press either or keys.
Search willstop at the next station.
Automaticsearch of FM bands operates at two sensitivitylevels. If
during its first search on the tuning band for powe
rfulfield stations
(localstations) no station isfound, the setwillcarryout a second
search for less powerfulfield stations.Manual frequency tuning
1. Select the FM1 or FM2 band
2. Hold the or keydown untilyou hear the signaland the
"MAN" indication and
the currentfrequency are displayed on
the screen.
3.Tune into the frequency of your choice by pressing the or
keys.
Ifyou press these keys briefly the tuning moves step by step
(50 KHz steps) and ifyou hold them pressed down the
frequencies change fast.
Alternative Frequency selection (AF)
RDS FM radio stationscan
transmit their signalatdifferent
frequencies. Your radio automatically chooses the strongest signal
for the selected station. Ifyou are driving through an area with bad
coverage, each automaticre-tune will resul
tin shortbreaksin the
audio. In order to avoid this, turn the AFfunction off.
Turning AF function on/off
Keep the DX/MAN key pressed untilthe confirmation signal
sounds. The AFfunction willbe alternativelyenabled or disabled.
The AFfuncti

station isstored and willbe enabled again when a preset station is
selected.

Coding (anti-theft protection, blocking of functions)
The code numberfor thiscar audio system can be found on the
Radio Card.
The code may be entered by the manufacturer, the dealer or the
user.
By entering thiscode, you are protecting electronicallyany
switching on of the car audio setwhen removin
g itwithoutyour
knowledge.
In this case, after startup "SAFE" willbe displayed on screen.
Onlywhen entering the correct code the car audio setwillbe in
operation again.Should you loose or forget the code (Radio Card), onlyan official
deal
ership – with charge and by giving proof of ownership of the
set – willbe able to startup your set for you.

Do not press key "1" as thisnumber isalreadycorrectlyentered,
as the screen
displays "1000".
Press key "2" seven times. "1700" willbe displayed.
Do not press key "3" as thisnumber isalreadycorrect. "1700" is

Press key "4" three times. "1703" willbe displayed.

Waiting intervals
In order to avoid code deactivation with the test and error
procedure, we have introduced a waiting intervalof one hour after
everyfaulty try. During thisperiod we can switch the set on and off
butitwill remain silent.
During the w
aiting intervalthe setmustremain on. Untilthe
intervaltime isnot over "2 SAFE" isdisplayed on the screen. After
thistime the next trynumber willbe displayed, for instance: "2
1000".

New start up
If the car audio setisremoved from the battery, for example,
during a workshop service, and coding is active, the setwillbe
electronicallyblocked.1. Switch on the set.
"SAFE" isbrieflydisplayed, and then "1000".
2. Enter the code number (from the Radio Card
). See chapter
"Code Activation".
3. Confirm the code number by pressing the SCAN keyuntilyou
hear the confirmation signaland "SAFE" isbrieflydisplayed.

displayed and then "SAFE". Activate the setting by briefly
pressing again the "PTY" key. "1000" willflash on the screen

3. Confirm the number by brieflypressing the "PTY" key, "CODE"
willbe displayed. The audio setisin operation.

Coding is then permanently deactivated.When you assemble it

Radio Data System (RDS)
The RDSisan information system whose signalsare broadcast by
lots of stationsapartfrom the FM radio programmes.
Programme Service
On the RDS programmesyou can see the radio station name
displayed, for instance: Flash FM at 105.7 on your dial.
Bear in mind that the RDS programmesmight have various
regionalprogrammes and differentstation names.Enhanced Other Network (EON)
Thisfunction allowsyou to listen to the trafficannouncementsin
the RDS 1 and 2 ranges, even ifyou are tuned
into a RDS
programme withouttrafficannouncements’ service and aslong as
the radio station selected has other RDS programme with traffic
announcements.
The availability to broadcast trafficannouncementsin RDS
prog
rammeswith EON workswhen "TP" is activated on the screen
and you are listening to the tuned RDS programme. Activate/
deactivate TP by pressing the TP key

Radio reception conditions
