SEAT maintenance programme
8SEAT maintenance programmeGeneral informationThis maintenance programme will inform y ou of the work to carry out regularly
on your vehicle in order to ensure the safety, reliability and durability
required.
Using the “vehicle identification” data or the data contained in this docu-
ment, the correct spare parts your vehicle could require in case of repairs are
specified, even after many years from the initial purchase.
We recommend that you keep this maintenance programme with the vehicle
documents. The inspection receipts are one of the essential requirements for
exercising your rights under warranty.
The maintenance programme shows the date of delivery, and this indicates
the starting date of the vehicle warranty.Concepts of the SEAT serviceLongLife Services or inspection services by time or mileage?Depending on the technical characteristics of the vehicle, the LongLife
Service or the inspection service is selected. If the LongLife Service is not
desired, the inspection service can be selected.
Your authorised SEAT Service Centre is able to advise on the service mode
suited to your vehicle and will provid e information of whether there is any
work required by law to be carried out on the vehicle. Each Inspection Service, as well as any additional operation required already
has a pre-established work time. This will allow you to know the total cost of
the service beforehand.
The authorised SEAT Service Centre network is equipped with modern work-
shop technology and well-trained specialists. Many SEAT Service Centres
offer different service packages at special prices
Important information relating to th
e service concept is given on the
following pages.
The information described here is correct at the time of going to print. Modi-
fications may be necessary for technical reasons
Note
The cost of the SEAT inspection service may vary, depending on the vehicle
type, equipment fitted, additional work and statutory tests. Your authorised
SEAT Service Centre can advise you of the costs.Adverse conditionsThe Service Centre “service advisor” will inform you of any necessary addi-
tional work within the intervals defined by the Inspection Service, according
to the conditions and environment in which the vehicle is used. For example,
an oil change where the vehicle is used only for frequent short journeys or is
subject to extreme temperatures. Likewi se, when the vehicle is used in dusty
conditions, dust and pollen filter cartridges must be changed more often and
the timing belt must be checked.

Diesel fuelThe Service Centre “service advisor” can provide information about which
countries use fuel with a high sulphur content. In these cases, the oil must be
changed every 5,000 miles.
Caution
•
Vehicles with the label “UNSUITABLE FOR BIODIESEL” on the fuel cover
cannot be driven using biodiesel.
•
To be certain if your vehicle can be used with biodiesel according to the
DIN EN 14214 (FAME) standard, consult your Service Centre.
•
DIN is a German abbreviation for “ Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V.”,
the German standards institute.
•
EN means European Norm.
•
FAME is the English abbreviation “ Fatty Acid Methyl Ester”

LongLife SEAT Services
10LongLife SEAT ServicesWhat is the LongLife SEAT service? The service intervals are flexibleWhereas conventional service intervals are calculated according to the
number of kilometres travelled, the LongLife Service employs a technology
which considers your personal driving style and the conditions of use appli-
cable to your vehicle. For example, frequent short journeys involve different
conditions of use to long journe ys. The maintenance intervals are flexible.
Remember that, in spite of the above, the LongLife Service should be carried
out at most every 24 months, as engine oil ages irrespective of the vehicle
conditions of use.
Details of the service work and additional work required can be found on
page ⇒page 12. onwards.
Please observe inspection intervals and ensure your vehicle is serviced as
required. Please note that failure to observe the inspection intervals may
lead to damage to your vehicle. Is my vehicle eligible for the LongLife Service? All vehicles are filled with oil suitable for the LongLife Service at the factory.
Depending upon the country where the vehicle is to be used, the LongLife Service or the inspection service is selected. On delivery of the vehicle, the
corresponding service is marked on the delivery inspection sheet.
Renewal of the LongLife Service
On completion of the relevant Service, the authorised SEAT Service Centre
resets the next service and marks the corresponding box on the service
sheet.
Engine oil specificationOnly specially approved engine oils may be used in vehicles
using the LongLife Service concept. The LongLife Service (maximum length 2 years) is only valid if engine oils
approved for the LongLength Service are used. Therefore, when filling and
topping up the engine, only engine oils with the following VW specifications
may be used:
Petrol engines VW 503 00, VW 503 01, VW 504 00
Diesel engines VW 506 00, VW 506 01, VW 507 00
In diesel vehicles fitted with particulate filters, the engine oil, specification
VW 507 00, must be used.
The instruction manual indicates the oil which should be used for your
vehicle engine.
If the specified engine oil is not used, the maintenance intervals given for the
SEAT inspection service should be observed.

ment.
The SEAT inspection service is applied whenever the conditions for the use of
the LongLife Service are not met, or where this service is not desired.
Please observe inspection intervals and ensure your vehicle is serviced as
required. Please note that failure to observe the inspection intervals may
lead to damage to your vehicle.

Warranty17
WarrantyFault-free operation warrantyAccording to the clauses of the warranty applied to SEAT vehicles in the sales
contract, A fault-free operation warranty of 2 years in accordance with legal
requirements
2) 3)
is provided from the date of delivery.
We hope that it is understood that natural wear as well as damage caused by
the abuse of vehicle performance through inappropriate use or by unaccept-
able modifications are excluded from the warranty. The warranty is also
invalid when the vehicle is damaged by the use of parts and accessories that
are not SEAT approved or damage due to ignoring the maintenance and repair
requirements.
Paintwork and body warrantyAuthorised Service Centres provide a warranty on bodywork
and paintwork for vehicles sold in the EU.In addition to the warranty conditions for brand new SEAT vehicles (as
detailed in the purchase contract), a defined period warranty is also provided
covering paintwork and bodywork rusting:•
3 year paintwork warranty following delivery date (except the Alhambra
model).
•
12 years from the date of delivery against bodywork through-rusting (6
years for the Alhambra).
If, however, this type of damage should occur, it will be repaired free of charge
including parts and labour by any SEAT Authorised Service Centre in Europe.
Warranty claims will not be accepted in the following circumstances:
•
if damage is caused by external influence or carelessness, or
•
if damage to the body is not repaired promptly and appropriately in
accordance with the manufacturer's in structions using genuine, approved
spare parts and materials, or
•
if perforation rusting is caused by the use of non-genuine parts and mate-
rials for body repairs and if these repairs were not carried out in accordance
with the manufacturer's instructions.
If the bodywork is repaired or painted, your Authorised Service Centre will
certify your warranty against through-rusting for the repaired sections.
Approved SEAT exchange partsThe approved SEAT exchange parts, conforming to the manufacturer’s
requirements, constitute an additional service at your disposal, offering you
the possibility to replace entire assemblies, the most common being: the
lightened engine, gearboxes, cylinder heads, control units, electrical
elements, etc.
Of course these are Approved parts and, as they have the same class as the
manufacturer parts, they share the same SEAT approved spare parts warranty.
2)The warranty is not available for all export markets. For more information, please ask
your Authorised SEAT Service Centre.3)As well as the legally required warranty, SEAT offers an extended warranty to their cli-
ents in some European countries. The specific conditions of this extended warranty
are detailed in the vehicle sales contract.
