SEAT maintenance programme7
SEAT maintenance programmeGeneral informationTo ensure that you have each service carrie d out on time and that none are
forgotten, there is a reminder sticker on the dr iver side door pillar and a
reminder will also be shown via the serv ice interval display on the instrument
panel.
The service intervals quoted are for vehicles used under normal operating
conditions .
However, if the vehicle is used in adverse conditions, it may require work
before the next established service interval or ev en between service inter-
vals.
Adverse conditions include:•the use of fuel with a high sulphur content•frequent short journeys•leaving the engine idling for long periods o f time (as occurs with taxis)•driving on dusty roads or in dusty areas•frequently using the vehicle for towing•mainly driving in the city, in heavy traffic whe re it is necessary to continu-
ously brake and start, and•using the vehicle mainly in the winter
This particularly affects:•the air filter•the timing belt•the engine oil and•the diesel particulate filter In some countries diesel fuel has a high sulp
hur content; in these cases the
oil and the fuel filter should be changed every 7,5 00 km (5,000 miles). Your
Official SEAT Service will be able to tell y ou which countries have diesel with
a high sulphur content.
The service advisor at your Official SEA T Service will advise you on the need
to carry out additional work on your vehicle, t aking into account the usage
conditions of the vehicle.
A list of the work to be carried out at th e SEAT services is given on the
following pages. These services are valid at the time of printing and can be
subject to further modifications for technical reaso ns. Your Official SEAT
Service always has the latest available information and will be able to tell
you if your vehicle requires any other additio nal inspections established by
law.
The cost of the SEAT service may vary, depen ding on the vehicle type, equip-
ment fitted, additional work and statutory inspec tions. Your Official SEAT
Service will tell you how much the SEAT se rvice will cost (labour and parts).

8Whereas conventional service intervals are calculated according to the
number of kilometres travelled, the LongLife Service employs a technology
which considers your personal driving style and the conditions of use appli-
cable to your vehicle. For example, frequent sh ort journeys involve different
conditions of use to long journeys. The m aintenance intervals are flexible.
Remember that, in spite of the above, the LongLife Service should be carried
out at most every 24 months, as engine oi l ages irrespective of the vehicle
conditions of use.
Details of the service work and additional work required can be found on
page ⇒page 9 onwards.
Please observe inspection intervals and e nsure your vehicle is serviced as
required. Please note that failure to ob serve the inspection intervals may
lead to damage to your vehicle. Is my vehicle eligible for the LongLife Service? All the vehicles which are designed for Long Life Service leave the factory with
the correct engine oil. Depending upon the cou ntry where the vehicle is to be
used, the LongLife Service or the inspec tion service is selected. On delivery
of the vehicle, the corresponding service is ma rked on the delivery inspection
sheet.
Renewal of the LongLife Service
On completion of the relevant Service, the authorised SEAT Service Centre
resets the next service and marks the corr esponding box on the service
sheet.
Service interval dependent on time/distance
travelledWhat is a Service Interval dependent on time/distance travelled?
With the Inspection Service the service intervals are fixed.Unlike the LongLife Service, the inspection service is a conventional service
with fixed maintenance intervals.
A reminder label for the scheduled inspecti on services is located on the
inside of the driver door frame; you will als o be reminded by the service
interval counter on the instrument panel, a nd the service records in this docu-
ment.
The services dependent on time/distance trav elled are applied whenever the
conditions for the use of the LongLife S ervice are not met, or where this
service is not desired.
