Service information
6•If LongLife engine oil is not used, th e service dependent on time/distance
travelled then applies. In this case, an oil c hange service will have to be
carried out every 15,000 km (10,000 miles) or every year.Importance of the Maintenance ProgrammeThe Maintenance Programme confirms the date of deliv ery of
your vehicle and thus the beginning of its warranty cover. The vehicle data that appears in the Maintenance Programme guarantees
that the appropriate Genuine SEAT
® Parts are installed. This data helps
ensure that your car can be repaired without difficulty even after many years
of use.
The Maintenance Programme also informs you of which service should be
carried out when, and the work this entails.
Your Official SEAT Service will note down in this booklet the services carried
out.
Your Maintenance Programme should be kept in the vehicle with the on-
board documentation so that it is at han d whenever you need it.
Please remember to give the Maintenanc e Programme to the new owner if
you sell your car.
The SEAT Service Centre network is equ ipped with modern workshop tech-
nology and well-trained specialists. Many S EAT Service Centres offer different
service packages at special prices
Safety notesAll fluids and consumables , such as timing belts, tyres, coolant liquid, en gine
oil, spark plugs and vehicle batteries are cont inuously being developed.
Therefore, we recommend you take the veh icle to a qualified workshop to
have fluids or consumables changed. The Official SE AT Services receive
regular up-to-date information about mo difications. This is why SEAT recom-
mends you have fluids and other consumables replaced by an Official SEAT
Service.
Unless the vehicle is regularly and correctly s erviced as required in the
service plan, the vehicle could breakdown wh ile driving, leading to serious
accident and injury.•S e r v i c e s s h o u l d b e c a r r i e d o u t b y a q u a l i f i e d w o r k s h o p i n a c c o r d a n ce w i t h
the Maintenance Programme.•Please observe the instructions for use.Note
•Only use suitable fluids. Fluids should nev er be mixed up. This could
result in serious faults and engine dama ge.•SEAT is not responsible for damage to the v ehicle as a result of the use of
poor quality fuel, inadequate servicing o r non-availability of original spare
parts.•Spilt brake fluid may pollute the environme nt. If fluids leak or are spilt,
they should be collected and disposed of a ccordingly.•Regular servicing of your vehicle not only helps to ensure it remains in
good working order but also contributes to road safety. Therefore, we recom-
mend work is carried out in accordance with the Maintenance Programme.

SEAT maintenance programmeGeneral informationTo ensure that you have each service carrie d out on time and that none are
forgotten, there is a reminder sticker on the dr iver side door pillar and a
reminder will also be shown via the serv ice interval display on the instrument
panel.
The service intervals quoted are for vehicles used under normal operating
conditions .
However, if the vehicle is used in adverse conditions, it may require work
before the next established service interval or ev en between service inter-
vals.
Adverse conditions include:•the use of fuel with a high sulphur content•frequent short journeys•leaving the engine idling for long periods o f time (as occurs with taxis)•driving on dusty roads or in dusty areas•frequently using the vehicle for towing•mainly driving in the city, in heavy traffic whe re it is necessary to continu-
ously brake and start, and•using the vehicle mainly in the winter
This particularly affects:•the air filter•the timing belt•the engine oil and•the diesel particulate filter In some countries diesel fuel has a high sulp
hur content; in these cases the
oil and the fuel filter should be changed every 7,5 00 km (5,000 miles). Your
Official SEAT Service will be able to tell y ou which countries have diesel with
a high sulphur content.
The service advisor at your Official SEA T Service will advise you on the need
to carry out additional work on your vehicle, t aking into account the usage
conditions of the vehicle.
A list of the work to be carried out at th e SEAT services is given on the
following pages. These services are valid at the time of printing and can be
subject to further modifications for technical reaso ns. Your Official SEAT
Service always has the latest available information and will be able to tell
you if your vehicle requires any other additio nal inspections established by
law.
The cost of the SEAT service may vary, depen ding on the vehicle type, equip-
ment fitted, additional work and statutory inspec tions. Your Official SEAT
Service will tell you how much the SEAT se rvice will cost (labour and parts).
LongLife ServiceWhat is the LongLife service interval?
The service intervals are flexible

8Whereas conventional service intervals are calculated according to the
number of kilometres travelled, the LongLife Service employs a technology
which considers your personal driving style and the conditions of use appli-
cable to your vehicle. For example, frequent sh ort journeys involve different
conditions of use to long journeys. The m aintenance intervals are flexible.
Remember that, in spite of the above, the LongLife Service should be carried
out at most every 24 months, as engine oi l ages irrespective of the vehicle
conditions of use.
Details of the service work and additional work required can be found on
page ⇒page 9 onwards.
Please observe inspection intervals and e nsure your vehicle is serviced as
required. Please note that failure to ob serve the inspection intervals may
lead to damage to your vehicle. Is my vehicle eligible for the LongLife Service? All the vehicles which are designed for Long Life Service leave the factory with
the correct engine oil. Depending upon the cou ntry where the vehicle is to be
used, the LongLife Service or the inspec tion service is selected. On delivery
of the vehicle, the corresponding service is ma rked on the delivery inspection
sheet.
Renewal of the LongLife Service
On completion of the relevant Service, the authorised SEAT Service Centre
resets the next service and marks the corr esponding box on the service
sheet.
Service interval dependent on time/distance
travelledWhat is a Service Interval dependent on time/distance travelled?
With the Inspection Service the service intervals are fixed.Unlike the LongLife Service, the inspection service is a conventional service
with fixed maintenance intervals.
A reminder label for the scheduled inspecti on services is located on the
inside of the driver door frame; you will als o be reminded by the service
interval counter on the instrument panel, a nd the service records in this docu-
ment.
The services dependent on time/distance trav elled are applied whenever the
conditions for the use of the LongLife S ervice are not met, or where this
service is not desired.
Oil change
as indicated by the service interval display every 12 months
or every 15,000 km (10,000 miles)
a)
a)In Diesel vehicles, if a poor quality fu el is used which fails to comply with the r egula-
tions for Diesel fuel given in the In struction Manual (e.g. due to a high su lphur con-
tent), the oil should be changed ev ery 7,500 km (5,000 miles).

Other services available13
Other services availableLegal Inspection ServiceThe legal inspections must be carried out at the interva ls
prescribed. Many countries have legal requirements ob liging owners to have their vehicle
tested at specified intervals for safety for the user and for other traffic, as well
as ensuring that vehicle exhaust emissions meet the countries' regulations.
These revisions must be overseen by officially certified centres.
Your Technical Service can advise of the ins pections required by law, and can
check your vehicle in the course of an In spection Service. This will save you
both time and money.
The Technical Service can also carry out the inspections required by law at the
client's request.
Even if you do not wish to take advanta ge of this service and decide to take
your car to an officially certified centre for t his check, we recommend that you
speak to the manager of your Technica l Service first.
This person will be able to inform you of any p oints that require attention so
that your car does not fail the test and ha ve to be re-tested.Approved spare partsAll parts of your vehicle have been approved by SEAT, especially those parts
on which your safety depends. For this reason, the parts used in the
Programmed Inspection Services or in a ny vehicle repair must correspond
exactly to the manufacturer-defined requiremen ts. The approved SEAT spare parts have been designed especially for y
our vehicle. For this reason, we
recommend that Genuine approved SEAT spar es are always used.
In the Authorised SEAT Service Centres you will find the most important
approved spare parts. If in an exceptional case, th e necessary parts are not in
stock, they can, in general, be obtained s wiftly.
The SEAT Service Centres in the EU provide a 24 month warranty
1) for
Approved Spare parts from the date they are fi tted or sold. It is therefore
advisable to retain the original invoice from the Technical Service as proof of
the existing warranty.
More information about this may be obtain ed from your Technical Service.
Approved SEAT exchange partsThe approved SEAT exchange parts, conforming to the manufacturer’s
requirements, constitute an additional service at your disposal, offering you
the possibility to replace entire assemb lies, the most common being: the
lightened engine, gearboxes, cylinder head s, control units, electrical
elements, etc.
Of course these are Approved parts and, as they have the same class as the
manufacturer parts, they share the same SEA T approved spare parts warranty.
However, these parts are considerably cheape r as they are factory-recondi-
tioned used parts. Keep the invoice for the a pproved SEAT exchange parts as
proof of the start of the existing warranty.
More information about this may be obtai ned at the Technical Service.1)The warranty is not available for all export markets. For more information, ple ase ask
your Authorised SEAT Technical Service.
