Position of seat belt during pregnancy. Seat belts offer their maximum protection in
the e
v
ent of an accident and r educe the risk
of sust aining se
vere or fatal injuries only when
they are properly positioned. Furthermore, if
the webbing is correctly positioned, the seat belt will hold the vehicle occupants in the op-
timum position to ensure the airbag provides
the maximum pr
otection. The seat belt must
therefore always be worn and the webbing
correctly positioned.
Incorrectly worn seat belts can cause severe
or even fatal injuries

ar e equipped with belt t ensioners.
The belt t ensioners ar
e activated by sensors,
although only in severe head-on, lateral and
rear-end collisions. This retracts and tightens
the seat belts, reducing the forward motion of
the occupants.
The belt pre-tensioners work in combination
with the airbag system. In case of overturn,
the pre-tensioners do not activate unless the
head airbags are deployed. Note

be assumed.
The airbag system is not a substitute for seat
belts, but it is an integral part of the vehicle

seat in the front passenger seat. SEAT recommends fitting the child seat in the
rear seat to avoid having to deactiv
ate the
front passenger airbag.
When the front passenger airbag is deacti-
vated, this means that only the front passen-
ger front airbag is deactivated. All the other
airbags in the vehicle remain activated.

Vehicle interior Introduction
For safety reasons, as we have learned from
accident st
atistics, w
e recommend that chil
-
dr
en under 12 years of age travel in the rear
seats. Depending on their age, height and
weight, children travelling in rear seats must
use a child seat or a seat belt. For safety rea-
sons, the child seat should be installed in the
rear seat, behind the front passenger seat or
in the centre back seat.
The physical laws involved and the forces
acting in a collision apply also to children
