Engine revolutions counterThe red zone of the rev counter scale fig. 15 indicates the range in which the
engine control unit begins to limit the engi ne speed. The engine control unit restricts
the engine speed to a steady limit value.

On vehicles which are equipped with inform ation display*, you can call up this infor-
mation in the following menu on page 23:

Service Interval (Service)

Info
The following will be displayed in the information display* for 10 seconds: Service in ... km or ... days
Resetting Service Interval Display
It is only possible to reset the Service Interval Display, if a service message or at least a
pre-warning is shown on the display of the instrument cluster.
We recommend having this resetting performed by a specialist garage.
The specialist garage:

resets the memory of the display after the appropriate inspection,

makes an entry in the Service schedule,

affix the sticker with the entry of the following service interval to the side of the
dash panel on the driver's side.
Reset the service interval displays by using the reset button page 15 on the trip
counter.
On vehicles which are equipped with inform ation display*, you can call up this infor-
mation in the following menu on page 23:


We recommend that you do not reset the Se rvice Interval Display yourself otherwise
this can result in the service interval display being incorrectly set, which may also result
in problems with operation of your vehicle.
Note

Never reset the display between service intervals otherwise this may result in
incorrect readouts.

information is retained in the Service Inter val Display also after the battery of the
vehicle is disconnected.

If the instrument cluster is exchanged after a repair, the correct values must be
entered in the counter for the Service Interva l Display. This work is carried out by a
specialist garage.

The data displayed is the same after resetting the display with flexible service inter-
vals (QG1) using the reset button as that for a vehicle with fixed service intervals (QG2).
We therefore recommend having the Service In terval Display reset only by an author-
ised Škoda Service Partner who is familiar with the procedure for resetting the display
with a vehicle system tester.

Please refer to the brochure Service schedule for extensive information about the
service intervals.
Digital clockThe time is set with the buttons and page 15, fig. 15 .
Select the display which you wish to ch ange with the button and carry out the
change with the button .
On vehicles which are fitted out with the information display*, it is possible to set the
time in the menu Time  page 25.
WARNING
The clock should not be adjusted while driving for safety reasons but only when
the vehicle is stationary!

steering wheelYou can set the height and the forward/back position of the steering wheel to the
desired position.
– Adjust the driver seat page 80.
– Pull the lever below the steering wheel down fig. 125 - left  .
– Set the steering wheel to the desired position (concerning height and forward/back position).
– Push the lever upwards as far as the stop.
WARNING

You must not adjust the steering wheel when the vehicle is moving!

The driver must maintain a distance of at least 25 cm to the steering wheel
 fig. 125 - right. Not maintaining this minimum distance will mean that the
airbag system will not be able to properly protect you - hazard!

For safety reasons the lever must always be firmly pushed up to avoid the
steering wheel altering its po sition unintentionally when driving - risk of acci-
dent!

If you adjust the steering wheel furthe r towards the head, you will reduce
the protection offered by the driver airbag in the event of an accident. Check
that the steering wheel is aligned to the chest.

When driving, hold the steering wheel with both hands firmly on the outer
edge in the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock po sition. Never hold the steering wheel
firmly in the 12 o'clock position or in another way (e.g. in the middle of the
steering wheel or at the inne r steering wheel edge). In such cases, injuries to the
arms, the hands and the head can occur when the driver airbag is deployed.
Ignition lockPetrol engines
- ignition switched off, engine off, the steering can be locked
- ignition switched on
- start engine
Diesel engines - interruption of fuel supply, ignition swit ched off, engine off, the steering can be
locked.

WARNING

The front seats and the head restraints must always be adjusted to match
the body size of the seat occupant as well as the seat belts must always be
correctly fastened in order to provide an optimal protection for you and your
occupants.

The driver must maintain a distance of at least 25 cm to the steering wheel
 page 162, fig. 147 - left. Not maintaining this minimum distance will mean
that the airbag system will not be able to properly protect you - hazard!


Ensure that there are no objects in the footwell as any objects may get
behind the pedals during a driving or braking manoeuvre. You would then no
longer be able to operate the clutch, to brake or accelerate.
Correct seated position for the front passenger
The fro n t p assen ger must mai n tai n a d i stan ce of a t l ea st 25 c m from th e
dash panel so that the airbag offers him the greatest possible safety it is
deployed.For the safety of the front passenger and to reduce the risk of injury in the event of an
accident, we recommend the following setting.
Adjust the front passenger seat as far as possible to the rear.

Adjust the head restraint so that the top edge of the head restraint is at the same
level as the upper part of your head page 162, fig. 147 - right.

Fasten the seat belt correctly page 167, “How are seat belts correctly fastened?”.
In exceptional cases the front pass enger airbag can be deactivated page 178,
“Deactivating an airbag”. Manual front passenger adjustment
page 80, “Adjusting the front seats”.
Electrical front passenger seat adjustment page 81, “Adjusting front seats electri-
cally*”.
WARNING


Always keep your feet in the footwel l when the vehicle is being driven -
never place your feet on the instrument panel, out of the window or on the
surfaces of the seats. You will be exposed to increased risk of injury if it becomes
necessary to apply the brake or in the ev ent of an accident. If an airbag is
deployed, you may suffer fatal injuries wh en adopting an incorrect seated posi-
tion!


Correct seated position for the occupants on the rear seats
Occupants on the rear seats must sit upright, keep the feet in the foot-
well and must have their se at belts correctly fastened.To reduce the risk of injury in the event of a sudden braking manoeuvre or an accident,
the occupants on the rear seats must observe the following.
Adjust the head restraints so that the top edge of the head restraints is at the same
level as the upper part of your head page 162, fig. 147 .

Fasten the seat belt correctly page 167, “How are seat belts correctly fastened?”.

If you are transporting page 180, “Transporting children safely” children in the
vehicle, please use a suitable child restraint system.
