Arming the system
n To arm the system using remote transmitter

Press to Arm the system. Press to Disarm the system.

1. Close all wind ows and moonroofs (if so eq uip p ed ).
2. Remove the key from the ig nition switc h.
3. Op en the d oors and g et out of the vehic le.
4. Make sure that the eng ine hood is loc ked .
5. Close all d oors and the rear g ate.
6. Briefly p ress the “LOCK/ARM ” b utton (for less than two sec ond s).
All d oors (and the rear g ate) will loc k, the horn w ill sound one time,
the p arking lig hts will flash one time and the ind i c ator lig ht starts
flashing slowly (ap p roximately onc e every two sec on d s).
If any of the d oors or the rear g ate is not fully c losed , the horn sound s
three times, the p arking lig hts flash three times a nd the ind ic ator lig ht
flashes rap id ly to alert you that the d oors or the rear g ate are not
p rop erly c losed . When you c lose the d oor, the syste m will automati-
c ally arm and d oors will automatic ally loc k.

1. Close all wind ows and moonroofs (if so eq uip p ed ).
2. Remove the key from the ig nition switc h.
3. Op en the d oors and g et out of the vehic le.
4. Make sure that the eng ine hood is loc ked .
5. Close the d oors (and the rear g ate) b ut leave onl y the d river’s d oor
or the front p asseng er ’s d oor op en.
6. Push the p ower d oor loc king switc h forward ( “LOCK ” sid e) to set
the d oor loc ks.
7. Close the d oor. The horn will sound one time, the p arking lig hts will
flash one time and the ind ic ator lig ht will start f lashing slowly (ap p roxi-
mately onc e every two sec ond s) to inform you that t he system has
armed . NOTE The system can be armed even if the engine hood, the windows and/or moonroofs are opened. Always make sure that they arefully closed before arming the system. Disarming the system
Briefly p ress the “UNLOCK/DISARM ” b utton (for less than two
sec ond s) on the remote transmitter. The d river ’s d oor will unloc k, the
horn will sound two times, the p arking lig hts will flash two times and
the ind ic ator lig ht will g o off.

Moonroof (if equipped)WARNING
Never let anyone ’s hands, arms, head or any objects protrude
from the moonroof. Before closing the moonroof, make sure that no one ’s hands,
arms, head or other objects will be accidentally caught in themoonroof.
CAUTION
Do not sit on the edge of the open moonroof.
Do not operate the moonroof if falling snow or extremely cold
conditions have caused it to freeze shut.
The moonroof op erates only when the ig nition switc h is in the “ON ” p osi-
tion.

Open/close switch
To open or close the moonroof
Push the up p er p art of the switc h to op en the moonr oof. The sun shad e
also will b e op ened tog ether with the moonroof. The moonroof will stop at
a p osition 20 in. (50 c m) away from the fully c losed p osition if you c ontin-
ue to p ress on the switc h. Release the switc h onc e and p ush it ag ain to
op en the moonroof c omp letely.
Push the lower p art of the switc h to c lose the moon roof. The moonroof
will stop at a p osition 6 in. (15 c m) away from the fully c losed p osition if
you c ontinue to p ress on the switc h. Release the sw itc h onc e and p ush it
ag ain to c lose the moonroof c omp letely.
After washing the vehic le or after it rains, wip e a way water on the roof
p rior to op ening the moonroof to p revent water d rop s from falling into the
p asseng er c omp artment. NOTE For the sake of safety, it is recommended that you avoid driving
with the moonroof opened beyond the initial stop position of 20 in (50 cm). Driving with the moonroof fully open can cause an annoying
sound to generate at high speeds. If such a condition has beenencountered, close the moonroof up to the initial stop position of 20in. (50 cm). If the moonroof cannot be closed through switch operation
because of system failure, it can be closed manually using a hex-

2-26head wrench. For the procedure, refer to
“Moonroof — if the moon-
roof cannot be closed ” in Chapter 9 “In case of emergency ”.
Sun shade
