Crawl Control switch
“ON/OFF” switch
The Crawl Control indicator comes on and the slip indicator flashes
when operating.
Speed selector dial
Turn the dial clockwise to increase the speed and counterclockw ise to
decrease the speed.

Multi-information display
The operating status and speed select status of the Crawl Contr ol are
shown on the multi-information display.
Crawl Control
: If equipped
Allows travel on extremely rough off-road surfaces at a fixed low
speed without pressing the accel erator or brake pedal. Mini-
mizes loss of traction or vehic le slip when driving on slippery
road surfaces, allowing for stable driving.

5-1. Using the air conditioning system and defogger
■Adjusting the temperature setting
To adjust the temperature setting, turn clockwise (warm) or
counterclockwise (cool).
If is not pressed, the system will blow ambient temperature air o r
heated air.
For quick cooling, turn the temperature control knob to “MAX A/ C”. The
air conditioning will automatically turn on and, if an air outl et position
other than or is selected, the system will be set to recircu-
lated air mode. While “MAX A/C” is selected, it is not possible to turn off
the air conditioning.

Fan speed setting
To adjust the fan speed, turn clockwise (increase) or coun-
terclockwise (decrease).
Turning the knob to “OFF” turns off the fan.
■
Change the airflow mode
To select the air outlets, set to the desired position.
The positions between the air outlet selections shown below can also be
selected for more delicate adjustment.

The mode switches between outside air mode (introduces air from out-
side the vehicle) (indicator off) and recirculated air mode (re cycles air
inside the vehicle) (indicator on) each time the button is pressed.

Adding engine oil
If the oil level is below or near
the low level mark, add engine
oil of the same type as that
already in the engine.
Make sure to check the oil type and prepare the items needed
before adding oil.
Remove the oil fille r cap by turning it counterclockwise.
Add engine oil slowly, checking the dipstick.
Install the oil filler cap by turning it clockwise.
■Engine oil consumption
A certain amount of engine oil will be consumed while driving. In the following
situations, oil consumption may increase, and engine oil may ne ed to be
refilled in between oil maintenance intervals.
● When the engine is new, for example directly after purchasing t he vehicle or
after replacing the engine
● If low quality oil or oil of an inappropriate viscosity is used
● When driving at high engine speeds or with a heavy load, when t owing, or
when driving while accelerating or decelerating frequently
● When leaving the engine idling for a long time, or when driving frequently
through heavy traffic

Fluid level
The fluid level should be within the appropriate range.
Full (when cold)
Add fluid (when cold)

Hot: Vehicle has been driven around 50 mph (80 km/h) for 20 min- utes, or slightly longer in frigid temperatures. (Fluid tempera-
ture, 140°F - 175°F [60°C - 80°C]).
Cold: Engine has not been run for about 5 hours. (Room tempera- ture, 50°F - 85°F [10°C - 30°C]).
■Checking the fluid level
Make sure to check the fluid type and prepare the necessary items.
Clean all dirt off the reservoir.
Remove the cap by turni ng it counterclockwise.
Wipe the dipstick clean.
Reinstall the cap and remove it again.
Check the fluid level.
