■The power windows can be operated when
Vehicles with smart key system
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode. Vehicles without smart key system
The engine switch is in the “ON” position.
■ Operating the power windows after turning the engine off (front win-
dows only)
Vehicles with smart key system
The power windows can be operated for approximately 45 seconds even
after the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or
turned OFF. They cannot, however, be operated once the driver’s or front
passenger’s door is opened. Vehicles without smart key system
The power windows can be operated for approximately 45 seconds even
after the engine switch is turned to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position. They can-
not, however, be operated once the driver’s or front passenger’s door is
opened.
■ Jam protection function (front windows only)
If an object becomes caught between the window and the window frame,
window travel is stopped and the window is opened slightly.
■ When the battery is disconnected
The power windows must be initialized in order to ensure proper operation.
(Perform for each window with the switch for each seat.)
Open the window halfway.
Fully close the window by pulling the switch up and continue hold-
ing the switch for 1 second.
The indicator on the switch changes from a flashing pattern to being on
when initial settings are complete.

Automatic light off system
Vehicles with smart key system
The headlights and tail lights turn off 30 seconds after a door is opened or
closed if the “ENGINE START STOP ” switch has been turned to ACCES-
SORY or turned OFF while the headlights are turned on. (The lights turn off
immediately if the button on the key is pressed after all doors are
locked.)
To turn the lights on again, turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to IGNI-
TION ON mode, or turn the light switch OFF once and then back to the or position.
Vehicles without smart key system
The headlights and tail lights turn off 30 seconds after a door is opened or
closed if the engine switch has been turned to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position
while the headlights are turned on. (The lights turn off immediately if the
button on the key is pressed after all doors are locked.)
To turn the lights on again, turn the engine switch to the “ON” position, or
turn the light switch OFF once and then back to the or position.

Settings (e.g. light sensor sensitivity) can be changed.

■To prevent battery discharge
Do not leave the lights on longer than necessary if the engine is not running.

To change the “ENGINE START STOP” switch modes: Within
5 seconds of the buzzer soundi
ng, release the brake pedal
and press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch. Modes can be
changed each time the sw itch is pressed. (P. 127)
To start the engine: Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch
within 5 seconds after the buzz er sounds, keeping the brake
pedal depressed.
If the “ENGINE START STOP” switch still cannot be operated, con-
tact your Toyota dealer.
■ Stopping the engine
Shift the shift lever to “P” and press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch as
you normally do when stopping the engine.
■ Replacing the key battery
As the above procedure is the temporary measure, it is recommended that
the electronic key battery be replaced immediately when the battery
depletes. ( P. 354)
