A manual air conditioner is standard equipment on ENTRY grade models and an automatic
air conditioner on MID TECHNICAL and MID ELEGANT grade models.

The automatic air conditioner employs a left / right independent temperature control system.
Power Heater System

1CD-FTV engine models feature three power heater systems: PTC, hot-gas, \
and combustion.

The hot-gas heater was newly developed to enhance the heater performance\
of the diesel
engine.

The hot-gas heater features an orifice, magnetic valve, and hot-gas tank\
added to the air
conditioner components. Refrigerant raised to a high temperature and pressure by th\
e
compressor is guided to the evaporator and the heat is released.

(3) Checking of the contact pressure of the terminal:
Prepare a spare male terminal.
Insert it into a female terminal, check the engaged
condition and sliding resistance.
(d) REPAIR METHOD OF CONNECTOR TERMINAL (1) If there is on the contact point, clean the contact
point using an air gun or shop rag. However, never
polish the contact point using sand paper as the
platings may come off.
(2) In case of abnormal contact pressure, replace the
female terminal. However, if a male terminal is gold±
plated (gold color), use gold±plated female terminal
and if it is silver±plated (silver color), use silver±
plated female terminal.
(e) HANDLING OF WIRE HARNESS (1) When removing the wire harness, check the posi-tioning of the wiring and clamping before starting
work in order to be able to restore it correctly.
(2) Never twist, pull or loosen the wire harness more
than necessary.
(3) Never allow the wire harness to come into contact with a high±temperature, rotating, moving, vibrating
or sharp (edge of the panel, tip of the screw, etc.)
part.
(4) When installing parts, never let the wire harness be interfered with.
(5) Never cut or break the cover of the wire harness. If one is cut or broken, replace it or securely repair it
with electrical tape.
2. CHECK OPEN CIRCUIT
(a) For the open circuit in the wire harness in Fig. 1, perform a continuity check in step (b) or a voltage check in step (c)
to locate the section.

(8) Oil or water should not be put on the front seat outer belt and the front seat outer belt should be
cleaned with the appropriate detergents.
(i) AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (1) Never reuse the airbag sensor assembly involved in a collision where the\
SRS has deployed.
(2) The connectors to the airbag sensor assembly should be connected or disc\
onnected with thesensor mounted on the floor. If the connectors are connected or disconnected while the airbag
sensor assembly is not mounted to the floor, it could cause an undesired ignition of the supple-
mental restraint system.
(3) Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is t\
urned to the ºLOCKº position and the negative (±) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery, even if only loosen-
ing the set bolts of the airbag sensor assembly.
(j) WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
(1) The SRS wire harness is integrated with the instrument panel wire harness a\
ssembly. All connec-tors in the system are a standard yellow color. If the SRS wire harness becomes disconnected
or the connector becomes broken due to an accident, etc., repair or repl\
ace it.
3. ELECTRONIC CONTROL
(a) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF BATTERY TERMI-NAL
(1) Before performing electronic work, disconnect thebattery negative (±) terminal cable beforehand in
order to prevent it from shorting and burning out.
(2) When disconnecting and insta lling the terminal
cable, turn the ignition switch and lighting switch
OFF, and loosen the terminal nut completely. Per-
form these operations without twisting or prying the
terminal.
(3) When the battery terminal cable is removed, the memories of the clock, radio, DTCs, etc. are erased.
So before removing it, check them and make a note
of their settings.
(4) When the battery negative (±) terminal cable is dis- connected, memories of various systems are
erased. Therefore, refer to the PRE±CHECK for
each system to make sure whether or not the sys-
tem needs to be initialized after the battery negative
