NOTICE
To prevent causing serious damage to the transmission (vehicles with
a Multidrive or automatic transmission)
Never tow this vehicle from the rear with the front wheels on the ground.
This may cause serious damage to the transmission.
When towing a vehicle without using a towing dolly (vehicles with a
manual transmission)
Vehicles with smart entry & start system: The “ENGINE START STOP”
switch must not be OFF.
Vehicles without smart entry & start system: The engine switch must not be
“LOCK” position.
To avoid serious damage to your vehicle (vehicles with a Multidrive or
automatic transmission)
Do not use the rear emergency towing
hook.

Towing with a wheel-lift type truck from the rear
Multidrive or automatic transmis-
sion: Use a towing dolly under
the front wheels.
Manual transmission: We recom-
mend to use a towing dolly under
the front wheels.
Vehicles with smart entry & start
system: When not using a towing
dolly, turn the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch to ACCESSORY
mode and shift the shift lever to
“N”.
Vehicles without smart entry &
start system: When not using a
towing dolly, turn the engine
switch to the “ACC” position and
shift the shift lever to “N”.

Using a flat bed truck
If you use chains or cables to tie
down your vehicle, the angles
shaded in black must be 45.
Do not overly tighten the tie
downs or the vehicle may be
damaged.

To prevent damaging the vehicle (manual transmission)
Vehicles with smart entry & start system: Do not tow the vehicle with the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF.
Vehicles without smart entry & start system: Do not tow the vehicle with the
engine switch to the “LOCK” position.
The steering lock mechanism is not strong enough to hold the front wheel
straight.

Have the vehicle inspected immediately.
Failing to investigate the cause of the following warnings may lead to
the system operating abnormally and possibly cause an accident.
Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional, immedi-
ately.

Malfunction indicator lamp
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The electronic engine control system;
• The electronic throttle control system;
• The electronic Multidrive or automatic transmission control
system. (if equipped)
SRS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The SRS airbag system;
• The seat belt pretensioner system.
ABS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The ABS;
• The brake assist system
Brake system warning light (yellow indicator)
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The electronically controlled brake system; or
• The electric parking brake

*1:Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminders:
The driver’s and front passenger’s seat belts reminder sounds to alert the
driver and front passenger that his/her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer
sounds for 30 seconds after the vehicle has reached a speed of at least 20
km/h (12 mph). Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound
in a different tone for 90 more seconds.
*2:Parking brake engaged warning buzzer:
A buzzer will sound if the vehicle is driven at a speed of approximately 5 km/
h (3 mph) or more.Master warning light

If a warning message is displayed
If a warning is shown on the multi-information display, stay calm and
perform the following actions:
Master warning light
The master warning light also
comes on or flashes in order to
indicate that a message is cur-
rently being displayed on the
multi-information display.
Multi-information display
If any of the warning light comes on again after the following
actions have been performed, contact any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped profes-
sional.

Stop the vehicle immediately.
A buzzer sounds and a warning message is shown on the multi-infor-
mation display. The following warning indicates the possibility of dam-
age to the vehicle that may lead to an accident. Immediately stop the
vehicle in a safe place and contact any authorized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

Indicates abnormal engine oil pressure
The warning light may come on if the engine oil
pressure is too low.

A buzzer sounds and a warning message is shown on the multi-infor-
mation display. Failure to investigate the cause of the following warn-
ings may lead to the system operating abnormally and possibly
cause an accident. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized
Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped pro-
fessional immediately.

temperature is too high
Stop the vehicle in a safe place, shift the shift
lever to P and wait until the light goes off. If the
light goes off, you may start the vehicle again.

Follow the correction procedures.
A buzzer sounds and a warning message is shown on the multi-infor-
mation display. After taking the specified steps to correct the sus-
pected problem, check that the warning message goes off.
