NOTICE
■To prevent battery discharge
● Do not leave the engine switch in ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode
for long periods of time without the engine running.
● Do not stop the engine when the shift lever is in a position other than P. If
the engine is stopped in another shift lever position, the engine switch will
not be turned off but instead be turned to ACCESSORY mode. If the vehi-
cle is left in ACCESSORY mode, battery discharge may occur.
■ When starting the engine
● Do not race a cold engine.
● If the engine becomes difficult to start or stalls frequently, have your vehi-
cle checked by your Toyota dealer immediately.
■ Symptoms indicating a malfunction with the engine switch
If the engine switch seems to be operating somewhat differently than usual,
such as the switch sticking slightly, there may be a malfunction. Contact
your Toyota dealer immediately.

2284-3. Operating the lights and wipers
CAMRY_U (01999-06139)
Washer/wiper dual operation
Wipers will automatically operate a
couple of times after the washer
squirts.
(After operating several times, the
wipers operate once more time
after a short delay to prevent drip-
ping. However, the dripping pre-
vention does not operate while the
vehicle is moving.)
■The windshield wiper and washer can be operated when
Vehicles without a smart key system:
The engine switch is in the “ON” position.
Vehicles with a smart key system:
The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
■ If no windshield washer fluid sprays
Check that the washer nozzles are not blocked if there is washer fluid in the
windshield washer fluid reservoir.
■ When stopping the engine in an emergency while driving
If the windshield wipers are operating when the engine is stopped, the wind-
shield wipers will operate in high speed operation. After the vehicle is
stopped, operation will return to normal when the engine switch is turned to
“ON” position (vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION ON mode
(vehicles with a smart key system), or operation will stop when the driver’
door is opened.

WARNING
■Caution regarding the use of washer fluid
When it is cold, do not use the washer fluid until the windshield becomes
warm. The fluid may freeze on the windshield and cause low visibility. This
may lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
■When the windshield is dry
Do not use the wipers, as they may damage the windshield.
■ When the washer fluid tank is empty
Damage to the washer fluid pump may be caused if the lever is pulled
toward you and held continually.
■ When a nozzle becomes blocked
In this case, contact your Toyota dealer.
Do not try to clear it with a pin or other object. The nozzle will be damaged.

4-6. Driving tips
●Use fluids that are appropriate to the prevailing outside tempera-
tures. • Engine oil
• Engine coolant
• Washer fluid
● Have a service technician ins pect the condition of the battery.
● Have the vehicle fitted with four snow tires or purchase a set of tire
chains for the front tires.
*
Ensure that all tires are the same size and brand, and that chains match
the size of the tires.
*: Tire chains cannot be mounted on vehicles with 18 and 19-inch tires.
Perform the following accordin g to the driving conditions:
● Do not try to forcibly open a window or move a wiper that is frozen.
Pour warm water over the frozen area to melt the ice. Wipe away
the water immediately to prevent it from freezing.
● To ensure proper operation of the climate control system fan,
remove any snow that has accumulated on the air inlet vents in
front of the windshield.
● Check for and remove any excess ice or snow that may have accu-
mulated on the exterior lights, vehicle’s roof, chassis, around the
tires or on the brakes.
● Remove any snow or mud from the bottom of your shoes before
getting in the vehicle.
Winter driving tips
Carry out the necessary preparations and inspections before
driving the vehicle in winter. Al ways drive the vehicle in a man-
ner appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions.

Interior features
■The wireless charger can be operated when
The engine switch is in ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode.
■ Portable devices that can be charged
●Portable devices compatible with the Qi wireless charging standard can be
charged by the wireless charger. However, compatibility with all devices
which meet the Qi wireless charging standard is not guaranteed.
● The wireless charger is designed to supply low power electricity (5 W or
less) to a cellular phone, smartphone, or other portable device.
■ If a cover or accessory is attached to the portable device
Do not charge a portable device if a cover or accessory which is not Qi com-
patible is attached. Depending on the type of cover and/or accessory
attached, it may not be possible to charge the portable device. If the portable
device is placed on the charging area and does not charge, remove the cover
and/or accessories.
■ If interference is heard in AM radio broadcasts while charging
Turn off the wireless charger and check if the noise is reduced. If noise is
reduced, press and hold the power supply switch of the wireless charger for 2
seconds. The frequency of the wireless charger is changed and noise may be
reduced. When the frequency is changed, the operation indicator light will
blink (orange) 2 times.
■ Charging precautions
●If the electronic key cannot be detected in the cabin, charging cannot b\
e
performed. When a door is opened and closed, charging may be temporarily
suspended.
● While charging, the wireless charger and the portable device will become
warm. This is not a malfunction.
If a portable device becomes warm while charging and charging stops due
to the protection function of the portable device, wait until the portable
device cools down and charge it again.
■ Sound generated during operation
When the power supply switch is turned on or while a portable device is being
identified, operation sounds may be heard. This is not a malfunction.
■ Cleaning the wireless charger

When trouble arises
■When the tire pressure warning light comes on
Inspect the tires to check if a tire is punctured.
If a tire is punctured: →P. 512
If none of the tires are punctured:
Turn the engine switch off then turn it to the “ON” position (vehicle without
a smart key system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicle with a smart key
system). Check if the tire pressure warning light comes on or blinks.
If the tire pressure warning light comes on
After the temperature of the tires has lowered sufficiently, check the
inflation pressure of each tire and adjust them to the specified level.
If the warning light does not turn off even after several minutes have
elapsed, check that the inflation pressu re of each tire is at the specified
level and perform initialization. (→P. 446)
If the warning light does not turn off several minutes after the initialization
has been performed, have the vehicl e inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.
If the tire pressure wa rning light blinks for 1 minute then stays on
There may be a malfunction in the tire pressure warning system. Have
the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immediately.
■The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes such
as natural air leaks and tire inflat ion pressure changes caused by tem-
perature. In this case, adjusting the ti re inflation pressure will turn off the
warning light (afte r a few minutes).
■When a tire is replaced with a spare tire
The compact spare tire is not equipped with a tire pressure warning valve
and transmitter. If a tire goes flat, the tire pressure warning light will not
turn off even though the flat tire ha s been replaced with the spare tire.
Replace the spare tire with the repair ed tire and adjust the tire inflation
pressure. The tire pressu re warning light will go off after a few minutes.
■Conditions that the tire pressure warning system may not function
properly
→ P. 4 5 1
■Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer may not be heard because of noisy place or an
audio sound.
