Driving
• LTA is turned on.
• Vehicle speed is approximately 50
km/h (32 mph) or more.

ate only for the recognized side.)
• Width of traffic lane is approximately 3
m (9.8 ft.) or more.

another vehicle is in the lane on the side
where the turn signal was operated)
• Vehicle is not being driven around a
sharp curve.
• No system malfunctions are detected.

●Steering assist function
This function operates when all of the
following conditions are met in addition
to the operation conditions for the lane
departure alert function.
• Vehicle is not accelerated or deceler-
ated by a fixed amount or more.
• Steering wheel is not operated with a
steering force level suitable for chang-
ing lanes.
• ABS, VSC, TRC and PCS are not
operating.
• TRC or VSC is not turned off.
• Hands off steering wheel warning is
not displayed. (→P.180)
●Vehicle sway warning function
This function operates when all of the
following conditions are met.
• Setting for “Sway Warning” in of
the multi-information display is set to
“ON”. (→P.361)• Vehicle speed is approximately 50
km/h (32 mph) or more.
• Width of traffic lane is approximately 3
m (9.8 ft.) or more.
• No system malfunctions are detected.

●Lane centering function
This function operates when all of the
following conditions are met.
• LTA is turned on.
• Setting for “Lane Center” in of the
multi-information display is set to “ON”
(→P.361)
• This function recognizes white (yel-
low) lane lines or the position of a pre-
ceding vehicle (except when the
preceding vehicle is small, such as a
motorcycle).
• The dynamic radar cruise control is
operating in vehicle-to-vehicle dis-
tance control mode.
• Width of traffic lane is approximately 3
to 4 m (10 to 13 ft.).
• Turn signal lever is not operated.
• Vehicle is not being driven around a
sharp curve.
• No system malfunctions are detected.

Driving
the driving conditions:
zDo not try to forcibly open a win-
dow or move a wiper that is fro-
zen. Pour warm water over the
frozen area to melt the ice. Wipe
away the water immediately to
prevent it from freezing.
zTo ensure proper operation of
the climate control system fan,
remove any snow that has accu-
mulated on the air inlet vents in
front of the windshield.
zCheck for and remove any
excess ice or snow that may
have accumulated on the exte-
rior lights, vehicle’s roof, chassis,
around the tires or on the brakes.
zRemove any snow or mud from
the bottom of your shoes before
getting in the vehicle.
Accelerate the vehicle slowly, keep
a safe distance between you and
the vehicle ahead, and drive at a
reduced speed suitable to road
conditions.
zPark the vehicle and shift the
shift lever to 1 or R without set-
ting the parking brake. The park-
ing brake may freeze up,
preventing it from being
released. If the vehicle is parked
without setting the parking brake,
make sure to block the wheels.Failure to do so may be danger-
ous because it may cause the
vehicle to move unexpectedly,
possibly leading to an accident.
Use the correct tire chain size when
mounting the tire chains.
Chain size is regulated for each tire
size.
Side chain:
3 mm (0.12 in.) in diameter
10 mm (0.39 in.) in width
30 mm (1.18 in.) in length
Cross chain:
4 mm (0.16 in.) in diameter
14 mm (0.55 in.) in width
25 mm (0.98 in.) in length

When replacing wheels, care
should be taken to ensure that they
are equivalent to those removed in
load capacity, diameter, rim width
and inset*.
Replacement wheels are available
at any authorized Toyota retailer or
Toyota authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer.
*: Conventionally referred to as offset.
Toyota does not recommend using
the following:
z Wheels of different sizes or types
z Used wheels
z Bent wheels that have been
straightened
■When replacing wheels
The wheels of your vehicle are equipped with tire pressure warning valves and
transmitters that allow the tire pressure warning system to provide advance warning in the event of a loss in tire
inflation pressure. Whenever wheels are replaced, the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters must be
installed. ( →P.281)
Wheels
If a wheel is bent, cracked or
heavily corroded, it should be
replaced. Otherwise, the tire
may separate from the wheel
or cause a loss of handling
control.
Wheel selection
WARNING
■When replacing wheels
●Do not use wheels that are a differ-
ent size from those recommended in the Owner’s Manual, as this may result in a loss of handling control.
●Never use an inner tube in a leak-ing wheel which is designed for a
tubeless tire. Doing so may result in an accident, causing death or serious injury.
■When installing the wheel nuts
Never use oil or grease on the wheel
bolts or wheel nuts. Oil and grease may cause the wheel nuts to be excessively tightened,
leading to bolt or disc wheel damage. In addition, the oil or grease can cause the wheel nuts to loosen and
the wheel may fall off, causing an accident and resulting in death or serious injury. Remove any oil or
grease from the wheel bolts or wheel nuts.
■Use of defective wheels prohib-ited
Do not use cracked or deformed
wheels. Doing so could cause the tire to leak air during driving, possibly causing an accident.

■Replacing tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters
●Because tire repair or replacement may affect the tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters, make sure to have tires serviced by any autho-rized Toyota retailer or Toyota
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer. In addition, make sure to purchase your tire pressure warn-
ing valves and transmitters at any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
