■If the shift lever cannot be shifted from P (P. 303)
Select a shift position appropri ate for the driving conditions.
■Shifting the shift lever
While the engine switch is in the ON position, depress the
brake pedal and move the shift lever.
■ Shift position uses
*: To improve fuel consumption and reduce noises, set the shift lever in
D for normal driving.

Have the vehicle inspected immediately.
Failing to investigate the cause of the following warnings may lead to
the system operating abnormally and possibly cause an accident.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Scion dealer immediately.

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The electronic engine control system;
• The electronic throttle control system;
• The electronic automatic transmission control sys-tem; or
• The emission control system.
SRS warning light Indicates a malfunction in:
• The SRS airbag system;
• The front passenger occupant classification system; or
• The seat belt pretensioner system.

(Canada) ABS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The ABS; or
• The brake assist system.
Electric power steerin g system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the EPS (Electric Power
Steering) system.
Slip indicator The indicator comes on to indicates a malfunction in;
• The VSC; or
• The TRAC.
