Changing the vehicle-to-vehicle distance
Pressing the button changes
the vehicle-to-vehicle dis-
tance as follows:

The vehicle-to-vehicle distance
is set automatically to long
mode when the “POWER”
switch is turned to ON mode.
If a vehicle is running ahead of
you, the preceding vehicle
mark will also be displayed.
Vehicle-to-vehicle distance settings
Select a distance from the table below. Note that the distances
shown correspond to a vehicle speed of 80 km/h (50 mph). Vehi-
cle-to-vehicle distance increases/decreases in accordance with
vehicle speed.

Warning lights, warning code and buzzers for dynamic radar cruise
control
Warning lights, warning code and buzzers are used to indicate a system
malfunction or to inform the driver of the need for caution while driving.
The warning codes displayed on the meter indicate the following situations.
Fix each problem in accordance with the correction procedure, and check
that the system is operating normally.
If the warning code persists even after fixing, have the vehicle inspected by
any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional.

PCS (Pre-Crash Safety System)
: If equipped
When the radar sensor detects possibility of a frontal collision, the
pre-crash safety systems such as the brakes and seat belts are auto-
matically engaged to lessen impact to occupants as well as vehicle
damage.
Pre-crash seat belts (front seat belts only)
If the pre-crash sensor detects that a collision is unavoidable, the pre-
crash safety system will retract the seat belt before the collision occurs.
The same will happen if the driver makes an emergency braking or
loses control of the vehicle. (P. 124)
However, when the VSC system is disabled, the system will not oper-
ate in the event of skidding.
Pre-crash brake assist
When there is a high possibility of a frontal collision, the system applies
greater braking force in relation to how strongly the brake pedal is
depressed.
Pre-crash braking
When there is a high possibility of a frontal collision, the system warns
the driver using a warning light, warning display and buzzer. If the sys-
tem determines that a collision is unavoidable, the brakes are automat-
ically applied to reduce the collision speed. Pre-crash braking can be
disabled using the pre-crash braking off switch.

Automatic air conditioning system
Air outlets and fan speed are automatically adjusted according to the
temperature setting.
The illustration is for a left-hand drive vehicles. Some button posi-
tions are reversed for right-hand drive vehicles.

Using automatic air conditioning system
Press .

The air conditioning system begins to operate. Air outlets and
fan speed are automatically adjusted according to the tem-
perature setting.
To switch the air conditioning (cooler/dehumidifier functions) ON or
OFF, press . (ON and OFF are switched between each time
the button is pressed.)
*: When is pressed, the current temperature setting display
( ) will be automatically selected.
Turn to the clockwise to raise the temperature, or
counterclockwise to lower.

The fan speed can be adjusted in 7 stages.

Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting
and ambient conditions. As a result, the following may occur:
Immediately after is pressed, the fan may stop for a while until
warm or cool air is ready to flow.
Cool air may flow to the area around the upper body when the heater is
on.
After pressing
The selection frame will automatically move to the fan speed display.
Switching between outside air and recirculated air modes
Recirculated air mode or outside air mode may be automatically switched to
in accordance with the temperature setting and the inside temperature.
Also, outside air mode may be automatically switched to when the outside
temperature is low.
Using the system in recirculated air mode
The windows will fog up more easily if recirculated air mode is used.
Window defogger feature
Recirculated air mode may automatically switch to outside air mode in situa-
tions where the windows need to be defogged.

Pollen removal mode
In order to prevent the windshield from fogging up when the outside air is
cold, the following may occur:
• Outside air mode does not switch to recirculated air mode.
• The air conditioning system operates automatically.
• The operation cancels after 1 minute.
In rainy weather, the windows may fog up. Press .
Outside temperature display
In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be dis-
played, or the display may take longer than normal to change.
When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 25 km/h [16 mph])
When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entrance/
exit of a garage, tunnel, etc.)
Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode
In the Eco drive mode, the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to
prioritize fuel efficiency:
Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/
cooling capacity
Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations:
Adjust the fan speed and temperature
Turn off Eco drive mode (P. 226)
Customize the air conditioning control of Eco drive mode. (P. 554)
When outside air temperature is below 0 C (32 F)
The cooling and dehumidification function may not operate even when
is pressed.
