Parking lock system warning message (warning buzzer)
Indicates a malfunction in the shift control system when
the vehicle is stopped
• In this situation, there is a possibility that the parking
lock mechanism will not work. When parking, park the
vehicle on a flat surface and apply the parking brake
securely.
• The power switch may not be turned off. If this happens,
applying the parking brake will enable the switch to be
turned off.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer immediately.

Hybrid battery indicator light
The hybrid battery (traction battery) will soon need to be
inspected or replaced
Have the hybrid battery (traction battery) inspected by any
authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or
any reliable repairer immediately.*2
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer immediately.

LED headlight warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the LED headlights
The LED headlights will not normally illuminate when
there is a malfunction, however they may be able to illu-
minate depending on the nature of the problem.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer immediately.

P position request indicator light (warning buzzer)
The amount of charge remaining in the hybrid battery
(traction battery) has fallen because the shift position has
been left in N for a long time
 Because recharging is not possible when the shift
position is in N, shift the shift position to P when
parking the vehicle for a long time.
• The driver’s door has been opened while the shift posi-
tion is in N, D or B
• An attempt has been made to start the hybrid system
while the shift position is in anything other than P
 Shift the shift position to P.

When trouble arises
*1: Brake system warning buzzer:
When there is a possible problem that could affect braking performance,
the warning light will come on and a warning buzzer will sound.
Parking brake engaged warning buzzer:
A buzzer will sound if the vehicle is driven at a speed of approximately
5 km/h (3 mph) or more.
*2: If you continue to use the vehicle in this state, the light starts blinking with
buzzer sounds, and you will soon become unable to start the hybrid sys-
tem.
*3: Open door warning buzzer:
The open door warning buzzer sounds to alert one or more of the doors is
not fully closed (with the vehicle having reached a speed of 5 km/h
[3 mph]).
*4: Seat belt buzzer:
The seat belt buzzer sounds to alert the driver, front passenger and rear
passengers that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds for
30 seconds after the vehicle reaches a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). Then, if
the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in a different tone for
90 more seconds.
Carrying out the corresponding action turns the warning light off.

The filter may be clogged, the air intake vent may be
blocked or there may be a gap in the duct.

rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or
any reliable repairer.

WARNING
■If both the ABS and the brake system warning lights remain on
Stop your vehicle in a safe place immediately and contact any authorized
Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized r epairer, or any reliable repairer. The
vehicle will become extremely unstable during braking, and the ABS system
may fail, which could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
■ When the electric power steering system warning light comes on
The steering wheel may become extremely heavy.
When steering wheel operations are heavier than usual, grip the steering
wheel firmly and operate it using more force than usual.
■ If the tire pressure warning light comes on
Be sure to observe the following precautions. Failure to do so could cause a
loss of vehicle control and result in death or serious injury.
● Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire infla-
tion pressure immediately.
● Vehicles with spare tire: If the tire pressure warning light comes on even
after tire inflation pressure adjustment, it is probable that you have a flat
tire. Check the tires. If a tire is flat, change it with the spare tire and have
the flat tire repaired by the nearest any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota
authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
● Vehicles with emergency tire puncture repair kit: If the tire pressure warn-
ing light comes on even after tire inflat ion pressure adjustment, it is proba-
ble that you have a flat tire. Check the tire s. If a tire is flat, repair the flat tire
by using emergency tire puncture repair kit.
● Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you
could lose control of the steering wheel or the brakes.
■ If a blowout or sudden air leakage should occur
The tire pressure warning system may not activate immediately.
NOTICE
■ To ensure the tire pressure warning system operates properly
Do not install tires with different specif ications or makers, as the tire pres-
sure warning system may not operate properly.

 Restart the hybrid system when starting
the vehicle.
Indicates a malfunction in the shift control system
In this situation, there is a possibility that the
parking lock mechanism will not work. When
parking, park the vehicle on a flat surface and
apply the parking brake securely. Also, it may
not be possible to turn the power switch off. If
this happens, applying the parking brake will
enable the switch to be turned off. A buzzer
also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
Indicates a malfunction in the hybrid system

 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place

Dirt, rain, condensation, ice, snow, etc., are pres-
ent on the windshield in front of the camera sen-
sor.
The following systems will be temporarily unus-
able.
• PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system)
• LDA (Lane Departure Alert with steering con-
trol) system
• Dynamic radar cruise control
• RSA (Road Sign Assist)
• Automatic High Beam
 Turn the system off, remove any dirt, rain,
condensation, ice, snow, etc., from the
windshield, and then turn the system back
on.
(If equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in the pre-crash safety
system
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer immedi-
ately.
Indicates an engine oil pressure malfunction

 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place

This message may be displayed when driving
under severe operating conditions, and the out-
put of the hybrid system may temporarily
decrease in order to protect the system. (For
example, when driving up a long steep hill or
driving up a steep hill in reverse.)

 Stop the vehicle in a safe place.

from P with the brake pedal released.
A buzzer also sounds.
 When changing the shift position from P,
depress the brake pedal.
An attempt was made to change the shift position
to B when the shift position was R.
A buzzer also sounds.
The shift position automatically changed to N.
 Change the shift position to D, and then
change the shift position to B.
An attempt was made to change the shift position
to D while the vehicle was driven in reverse.
A buzzer also sounds.
The shift position automatically changed to N.
 Stop the vehicle, and then change the shift
position.
An attempt was made to change the shift position
to R while the vehicle was moving forward.
A buzzer also sounds.
The shift position automatically changed to N.
 Stop the vehicle, and then change the shift

Indicates that the P position switch is pressed
while the vehicle is running.

Insufficient 12-volt battery charge
The parking lock mechanism may not function.
The hybrid system may not be able to start.
The power switch may not be able to be turned
off. In this case, the power switch may be
turned off by applying the parking brake.
After charging the 12-volt battery, the message
may continue to be displayed until the shift
position is changed from P.
A buzzer also sounds.
 When parking, choose a level location and
apply the parking brake securely.
 Maintain the hybrid system operation state
for approximately 15 minutes or more to
recharge the 12-volt battery.
 The hybrid system will not start: Start the
hybrid system by following the “If the
12-volt battery is discharged” procedure
( P. 513).
 If the message does not disappear: The
12-volt battery may be deteriorating.
The 12-volt battery may be discharged if
this continues. Have the 12-volt battery
inspected at any author ized Toyota retailer
or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer.
Shift control system malfunction
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• The parking lock mechanism may not func-
tion. When parking, choose a level location
and apply the parking brake securely.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
