dBuzzer
BSM buzzer: When you have moved the turn signal lever to the side where the vehi-
cle is detected, the buzzer will sound.
RCTA Buzzer: When a vehicle approaching from the right or left rear end of your
vehicle is detected, the buzzer will sound.
WARNING
⬛To use the BSM function safely
The driver is responsible for driving the vehicle safely. It is th e driver’s responsi-
bility to be aware of the situations around the vehicle and drive safely.
The BSM function is an auxilia ry system designed to let the driver know of the
presence of a vehicle that has entere d or is rapidly approaching toward the
blind spot area of the outside rear view mirrors. Since this system alone is not
sufficient for determining the feasibility of changing lanes, overly relying on the
system could lead to an unforeseen accid ent, resulting in serious injury or
death.
This system does not work effectively depending on the circumstances. The
driver is responsible for checking the safety around the vehicle by using his/
her own eyes and the mirrors.
⬛To use the RCTA function safely
The driver is responsible for driving the vehicle safely. It is th e driver’s responsi-
bility to be aware of the situations around the vehicle and drive safely.
The RCTA function is an auxiliary system designed to let the driver know of the
presence of a vehicle that is approaching from the right or left rear of the vehi-
cle.
Even with the RCTA function enabled, this system does not work effectively
depending on the circumstances. The dr iver is responsible for checking the
safety around the vehicle by using his/her own eyes.
Overly relying on the system could lead to an unforeseen accident, resulting in
serious injury or death.

BSM function
The BSM function uses the radar sensors to detect vehicles traveling in
the next lane as described below and notifies the driver of the vehicles’
presence with the outside rear view mirror indicators and buzzers.
a A vehicle traveling in the area not re flected in the outside rear view mir-
rors (blind spot area)
b Vehicles rapidly approaching from behind into the area not reflected in
the outside rear view mirrors (blind spot area)
Detection range of the BSM function
The function detects a vehicle that has entered the area specified below.
a For both sides of the vehicle, an ar ea of approx. 3.5 m (11.5 ft.) from
approx. 0.5 m (1.6 ft.) away from the side surface
The function does not detect an area of a pprox. 0.5 m (1.6 ft.) from the side surface
of the vehicle toward the outside.
b Area approx. 1 m (3.3 ft.) ahead of the rear bumper
c Area approx. 3 m (9.8 ft.) behind the rear bumper

⬛Situations in which the tire pressure warning system may not operate properly✽
⚫In the following cases, the tire pressure warning system may not operate
properly.
⦁ If non-genuine Toyota wheels are used.
⦁A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not an OE (Original Equipment) tire.
⦁A tire has been replaced with a tire that is not of the specified size.
⦁ Tire chains, etc., are equipped.
⦁ An auxiliary-supported run-flat tire is equipped.
⦁ If a window tint that affects the radio wave signals is installed.
⦁ If there is a lot of snow or ice on th e vehicle, particularly around the wheels
or wheel housings.
⦁ If the tire inflation pressure is extr emely higher than the specified level.
⦁ If the spare tire is in a location subj ect to poor radio wave signal reception.
⦁ If a large metallic object which can in terfere with signal reception is put
near the spare tire.
⦁ If a wheel, not equipped with a tire pressure warning valve and transmit-
ter, is used.
⦁ If the ID code on the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters is not
registered in the tire pressure warning computer.
⚫Performance may be affected in the following situations.
⦁Near a TV tower, electric power plant, gas station, radio station, large display,
airport or other facility that generates strong radio waves or electrical noise
⦁ When carrying a portable radio, cellul ar phone, cordless phone or other
wireless communication device
⚫When the vehicle is parked, the time ta ken for the warning to start or go off
could be extended.
⚫When tire inflation pressure declin es rapidly for example when a tire has
burst, the warning may not function.
⬛The initialization operation (vehicles with the tire pressure warning system)
⚫Make sure to carry out init ialization after adjusting th e tire inflation pressure.
Also, make sure the tires are cold befo re carrying out initialization or tire
inflation pressure adjustment.
⚫If you have accidentally turned the engi ne switch to “OFF” during initializa-
tion, it is not necessary to press the reset switch again as initialization will
restart automatically when the engine switch has been turned to “ON” for
the next time.
⚫If you accidentally press the reset switch when initialization is not necessary,
adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified level when the tires are
cold, and conduct initialization again.

WARNING
⬛Battery precautions
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
⚫Do not swallow the battery. Doing so may cause chemical burns.
⚫A coin battery or button battery is used in the wireless remote control✽ or
the electronic key
✽. If a battery is swallowed, it may cause severe chemical
burns in as little as 2 hours and may result in death or serious injury.
⚫Keep away new and removed batteries from children.
⚫If the cover cannot be firmly closed, st op using the wireless remote control✽
or the electronic key✽ and stow the key in the place where children cannot
reach, and then contact your Toyota dealer.
⚫If you accidentally swallow a battery or put a battery into a part of your body,
get emergency medical attention immediately.
⬛To prevent battery explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas
⚫Replace the battery with a new battery of the same type. If a wrong type of
battery is used, it may explode.
⚫Do not expose batteries to extremely low pressure due to high altitude or
extremely high temperatures.
⚫Do not burn, break or cut a battery.
NOTICE
⬛Important points when replacing the batteries
Before you replace the battery, make sure to discharge static electricity from
your body and clothing. Static electricity could damage the key. To discharge
static electricity, prepare items that can remove static electricity in advance or
touch metal parts with your hands.
⬛To make it function properly after the replacement
Observe the following precautions.
⚫Never replace the batte ry with wet hands
Doing so could cause rusting.
⚫Do not touch or move the parts except the battery
⚫Do not bend the electrodes
