Replacing the wiper rubbers
When replacing the wiper rubbers, handle each part of the wipers as
follows.
Windshield wipers
⬛Removing and attaching the windshield wiper blades
a Raise the wiper arm. Insert a flat-
head screwdriver to lift the cover
To prevent damage, wrap a cloth
around the tip of the flathead screw-
driver or the like to protect it.
bSlide the windshield wiper blade
and remove it from the wiper
arm
c To attach the wiper blade, reverse the removal procedure

Rear wiper
⬛Removing and attaching the rear wiper blades
a Raise the wiper arm and remove
the wiper blade
aRotate the wiper blade until
the claw fitting comes off
b Remove the wiper blade from
the wiper arm
b To attach the windshield wiper blade, do it in the reverse steps of the
procedure a
When returning the raised wiper arm, return it slowly while holding it with hands.
After attaching the wiper blade, make sure that the joint is securely locked.
⬛Replacing the rear wiper rubbers
a Pull out the wiper rubber from
the wiper blade’s stopper and
remove it all the way
b Remove the 2 metal plates from
the old wiper rubber and attach
them to the new wiper rubber
Pay attention to the orientation of the
upward curve of the metal plate.

eCheck if the fuse is blown.

b Blown fuse
Replace the blown fuse with a new fuse of an appropriate amperage rating. The
amperage rating can be found on the fuse box lid.

f To install, reverse the removal procedure
⬛After a fuse is replaced
⚫If the lights do not turn on even afte r the fuse has been replaced, replace the
bulb. ( ➞P. 352)
⚫If the replaced fuse blows again, or if the electrical system does not work,
have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
⬛If there is an overload in a circuit
The fuses are designed to blow, protec ting the wiring harness from damage.
⬛When replacing light bulbs
We recommend that you use genuine Toyota products designated for this
vehicle. Because certain bulbs are connect ed to circuits designed to prevent
overload, products other than the Toyo ta genuine parts designated for this
vehicle may be unusable.

ately.

Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
Malfunction in EPS (Electric Power Steering) system
➞ Have the vehicle inspected at your Toyota dealer immedi-
ately.

Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
Low battery voltage/Electric power steering overheating
➞ Steering wheel operation becomes heavy. Restrain from
operating the steering wheel fo r a short while. When about
10 minutes has passed, it will return to its usual weight.

Area surrounding radar sensor on rear bumper ( ➞P. 214) is cov-
ered with rain, snow, ice, dirt, etc.
➞ Remove the rain, snow, ice, dirt, etc. If flashing persists even
after some time has elapsed since removal, have the vehicle
inspected at your Toyota dealer.

“Fasten Seat Belt”
Rear seat belt is not fastened
The warning buzzer will sound.
It will be displayed when the vehicle speed
exceeds approx. 20 km/h (12 mph) and the
seat belt is unfastened.
➞ Wear a seat belt
“Release Parking
Brake”
The parking brake is not released
If the vehicle speed exceeds approx. 5 km/h
(3 mph) with the parking brake being
applied, the warning buzzer will sound.
➞ Release the parking brake
“Sonar Sensor in Oper-
ation Pay Attention”―
Front corner sensors or reverse sensors is
activated

The activated sonar is displayed.
The warning buzzer may sound.
➞ Check the situation around you and drive
accordingly such as stepping on the
brake pedal

When trouble arises

▶1KR-VET engine
c Start the engine of the second ve hicle. Increase the engine speed
slightly and maintain at that level for approximately 5 minutes to
recharge the battery of your vehicle.
d Maintain the engine speed of the second vehicle and turn the engine
switch to “ON”.
e Once the vehicle’s engine has started, remove the jumper cables in the
exact reverse order from which they were connected.
f Close the cover of the positive (+) battery terminal
Even if you are able to start the engine, have the vehicle inspected at your
Toyota dealer as soon as possible.
⬛Starting the engine when the battery is discharged
For this vehicle, the engine c annot be started by push-starting.
⬛If the vehicle battery is discharged
The data stored in the comp uter will be erased. If your vehicle’s battery dis-
charges, have the vehicle insp ected at your Toyota dealer.
⬛Charging the battery
The electricity stored in the battery will discharge gradually even when the
vehicle is not in use, due to natural discharge and the draining effects of cer-
tain electrical appliances. If the vehicle is left for a long time, the battery may
discharge, and the engine may be unable to start. (The battery recharges auto-
matically during driving)
