Interior lights list
Your Toyota is equipped with the illuminated entry system to assist
in entering the vehicle. Due to th e function of the system, the lights
shown in the following illustration automatically turn on/off accord-
ing to the presence of the electro nic key (vehicles with smart key
system), whether the doors are lo cked/unlocked, whether the doors
are opened/closed, and the “EN GINE START STOP” switch mode
(vehicles with smart key system) or engine switch position (vehicles
without smart key system).

Personal/interior light main switch“OFF”
The personal/interior lights can

Vehicles with smart key system
If the personal/interior lights and “ENGINE START STOP” switch light
remain on when the door is not fully closed and the personal/interior light
main switch is in door position, the lights will go off automatically after 20
minutes.
Vehicles without smart key system
If the personal/interior lights and engine switch light remain on when the
door is not fully closed and the personal/interior light main switch is in
door position, the lights will go off automatically after 20 minutes.
■ Customization
Settings (e.g. The time elapsed before lights turn off) can be changed.

5-2. Steps to take in an emergency

If the engine will not star t
If the engine still does not start after following the correct starting
procedure (P. 171, 175) or releasing the steering lock ( P. 173,
176), confirm the following points.
■ The engine will not start even if you are carrying the correct
key.
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
●There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
● The engine may be flooded.
Try to restart the engine once more following correct starting
procedures. ( P. 171, 175)
● There may be a malfunction in the engine immobilizer system.
( P. 107)
■ The starter motor turn over slowly, the interior lights and
headlights are dim, or the horn does not sound or sounds at
a low volume.
One of the following may be the cause of the problem.
●The battery may be discharged. ( P. 466)
● The battery terminal connec tions may be loose or corroded.
