In the corresponding submenus the
following settings can be changed:
Vehicle ● Climate & Air Quality
Auto Fan Max Speed : Modifies
the level of the cabin airflow of the climate control in automatic
mode.
Auto Heated Seats :
Automatically activates the seat
heating.
Auto Defog : Supports
windscreen dehumidification by
automatically selecting the
necessary settings and
automatic air conditioning mode.
Auto Rear Defog : Automatically
activates heated rear window.
● Collision / Detection Systems
Forward Collision Alert : Activates
or deactivates forward collision
alert.
Auto Collision Preparation :
Activates or deactivates the
automatic brake functionality of
the vehicle in the event of
imminent collision danger. The
following is selectable: the
system will take over brake
control, warn by chimes only or is
deactivated completely.
Forward Collision System :
Changes the settings of forward
collision alert.
Park Assist : Activates or
deactivates the ultrasonic
parking assist. Activation is
selectable with or without
attached trailer coupling.
Go Notifier : Activates or
deactivates the reminder to drive
off when the adaptive cruise
control holds the vehicle at
standstill.Side Blind Zone Alert : Activates
or deactivates side blind zone
alert.
● Comfort and Convenience
Auto Memory Recall : Changes
the settings to the recall of
memorised settings for power
seat adjustment.
Easy Exit Driver Seat : Activates
or deactivates easy exit function
of the power seat.
Chime Volume : Changes the
volume of warning chimes.
Personalization By Driver :
Activates or deactivates the
personalisation function.
Rain Sense Wipers : Activates or
deactivates automatic wiping with rain sensor.
Auto Wipe in Reverse Gear :
Activates or deactivates
automatic switching on of the
rear window wiper when reverse gear is engaged.
● Lighting
Vehicle Locator Lights : Activates
or deactivates the entry lighting.

In the event of an accident with
airbag deployment the courtesy
lights are turned on automatically.
Dome light
Spotlight incorporated in the interior
lighting comes on when headlights are switched on.
Dome light illuminates gear shifting
console indirectly.
Ambient light Ambient light consists of indirect
lights in the doors, in the instrument
panel below the heating and
ventilation unit and in the passenger
foot well. 8 colours can be selected by a button in the roof console.

Ambient light can be dimmed with the

The selected colour remains the next time the ignition is switched on.

60 minutes.
Starlight panel Starlight panel consists of approx.
64 LEDs. The intensity can be
dimmed with a button in the roof

the climate control system runs at
maximum cooling, if cooling n is
switched on.
If the maximum temperature Hi is set,
the climate control system runs at
maximum heating.
Notice
If n is switched on, reducing the set
cabin temperature can cause the
engine to restart from an Autostop or inhibit an Autostop.

Demisting and defrosting the
windows V

Press V. The LED in the button
illuminates to indicate activation.
● Temperature and air distribution are set automatically and the fan
runs at high speed.
● Switch on heated rear window Ü.
● To return to previous mode: press V, to return to automatic
mode: press AUTO.

Notice
If V is pressed while the engine is
running, an Autostop will be inhibited
until V is pressed again.
If s is pressed with the fan switched
on and the engine running, an
Autostop will be inhibited until s is
pressed again or until the fan is
switched off.
If V is pressed while the engine is
in an Autostop, the engine will restart automatically.
If s is pressed with the fan switched
on while the engine is in an
Autostop, the engine will restart
automatically.

Manual settings Climate control system settings can
be changed by activating the buttons
and rotary knobs as follows.
Changing a setting will deactivate the automatic mode.

operation
In order to ensure continuously
efficient performance, cooling must
be operated for a few minutes once a month, irrespective of the weather
and time of year. Operation with
cooling is not possible when the
outside temperature is too low.
Service For optimal cooling performance, it is
recommended to annually check the
climate control system, starting
three years after initial vehicle
registration, including:
● functionality and pressure test
● heating functionality
● leakage check
● check of drive belts
● cleaning of condenser and evaporator drainage
● performance check
Notice
Refrigerant R-134a contains
fluorinated greenhouse gases.

130Driving and operatingDuring an Autostop, the heating and
brake performance will be
maintained.
Conditions for an Autostop
The stop-start system checks if each
of the following conditions is fulfilled:
● The stop-start system is not manually deactivated.
● The bonnet is fully closed.
● The driver's door is closed or the driver's seat belt is fastened.
● The vehicle battery is sufficiently charged and in good condition.
● The engine is warmed up.
● The engine coolant temperature is not too high.
● The engine exhaust temperature is not too high, e.g. after driving
with high engine load.
● The ambient temperature is above -5 °C.
● The climate control system allows an Autostop.● The brake vacuum is sufficient.
● The vehicle was driven at least at
walking speed since the last
Autostop.
Otherwise an Autostop will be
inhibited.
Certain settings of the climate control
system may inhibit an Autostop. See
'Climate control' chapter for more
details 3 119.
Immediately after motorway driving,
an Autostop may be inhibited.
New vehicle running-in 3 127.
Vehicle battery discharge protection
To ensure reliable engine restarts,
several vehicle battery discharge
protection features are implemented
as part of the stop-start system.
Power saving measures
During an Autostop, several electrical
features, e.g. the rear window
heating, are disabled or switched into a power saving mode. The fan speed
of the climate control system is
reduced to save power.Restart of the engine by the driverVehicles with manual transmission:
Depress the clutch pedal to restart the
engine.
The engine start is indicated by the needle at the idle speed position in
the tachometer.
If the selector lever is shifted out of
neutral before depressing the clutch
first, control indicator - illuminates
or is shown as a symbol in the Driver Information Centre.

automated:
Release the brake pedal or move
selector lever out of D to restart the
engine.
The engine start is indicated by the
needle at the idle speed position in

Restart of the engine by the stop-

The selector lever must be in neutral

Vehicles without spare wheel
Some tools and the towing eye are
located in a tool box in the load
compartment below the floor cover.
On version with storage box, remove

Matt painted decor parts, e.g. mirror
housing cover, must not be polished. Otherwise these parts would become agleam or the colour would be
dissolved.
Windows and windscreen wiper
blades
Use a soft lint-free cloth or chamois
leather together with window cleaner
and insect remover.
When cleaning the rear window from
inside, always wipe in parallel to the
heating element to prevent damage.
For mechanical removal of ice, use a
sharp-edged ice scraper. Press the
scraper firmly against the glass so
that no dirt can get under it and
scratch the glass.
Clean smearing wiper blades with a
soft cloth and window cleaner.Glass panel
Never clean with solvents or abrasive
agents, fuels, aggressive media
(e.g. paint cleaner, acetone-
containing solutions etc.), acidic or
highly alkaline media or abrasive
pads. Do not apply wax or polishing
agents to the glass panel.
Wheels and tyres
Do not use high-pressure jet
cleaners.
Clean rims with a pH-neutral wheel
cleaner.
Rims are painted and can be treated
with the same agents as the body.
Paintwork damageRectify minor paintwork damage with
a touch-up pen before rust forms.
Have more extensive damage or rust
areas repaired by a workshop.
Underbody Some areas of the vehicle underbody
have a PVC undercoating while other
critical areas have a durable
protective wax coating.After the underbody is washed, check
the underbody and have it waxed if
necessary.
Bitumen/rubber materials could
damage the PVC coating. Have
underbody work carried out by a
workshop.
Before and after winter, wash the
underbody and have the protective
wax coating checked.
Liquid gas system9 Danger
Liquid gas is heavier than air and
can collect in sink points.
Take care when performing work
at the underbody in a pit.
For painting work and when using a
drying booth at a temperature above
60 °C, the liquid gas tank must be
removed.
Do not make any modifications to the
liquid gas system.
