Performance Warranty claim approval
You may raise a claim under this warran ty im­
mediat ely afte r your vehicle has fail ed a Ca li­
fornia 1/M test if, as a res ult of that failure , you
a re re qui re d by law to r epair th e vehicle to avoid
imposition of a penalt y or cance llation of your
right
u se the vehi cle. You need actua lly
s uff er the loss or lose the right to use ve­
hicle or pay for the r epair before prese ntin g your
cla im.
C laim s ma y be pre sented only by bringing your
ve hicle to any authoriz ed Volkswagen dea ler in
th e Un it ed State s, incl uding it s te rritor ies, and
Ca nada. The dea le r wi ll honor or den y yo ur
claim within a reasona ble tim e, not t o exceed
thirt y (30) days, from the time at which yo ur ve­
hicl e is pres ented for repair o r w ithi n any tim e
peri od spe cified by local, state o r fede ral law,

war ra nt y claim on the basis that a non-EPA cer­
tifi ed r eplace ment part was use d in th e mainte­
n an ce or re pa ir of the ve hicle if Volk swage n ca n
pro ve t hat the non -cert ified part i s eith er d efec­
tiv e in mat eria ls o r wo rkman sh ip, or no t equiva­
l e nt fr om an emi ssio n sta ndpoint to th e or iginal
part, and you are no t able to offe r inform atio n
that th e part is e ith er not d efective o r equivalent
t o th e o riginal part with respect to its em ission
p erforman ce.

w hi ch a re no t equ ivalen t to Genuin e Volk ­
swage n parts in emis sion performan ce and du­
rability may impair the effective ness of emiss ion

Maintenance and repairs performed by independent service shops
Without in val idating t hese warrant ies, you may
c h oo se to have maintenance, repa ir or repla ce­
me nt of e mission contro l compone nts per­
formed b y any automotive service estab lish­
ment or individual q uali fied to p erfor m su ch
se rvi ces. However , the co st of su ch serv ices is
not covered by these warrant ies except in em er­
ge ncies. If the ind epe ndent serv ice estab lish- m
ent find s a warrantable defec t, you may deliv er
th e ve hicle to an au thori zed Volkswagen dea ler
and have t he defect corrected free of charg e.

Parts not scheduled for inspection or replacement
An y pa rt, w hich is not sched uled for in spe cti on

cov ered by th is warranty for t he full warrant y pe- riod.
Any s uch part s repai red o r rep lace d under
wa rra nty are wa rranted for th e remaining war­
ra nty peri od.

Scheduled part inspection or replacement
A sche duled o nly fo r inspection in accor­
dance with Volkswagen's instru ctions or re­
q ui red schedu led maint enan ce is covered for
the duration of these warranties.
Damage to non -warranty parts
If fa ilur e of a wa rranted causes damage to a
part not covered by warranty, th e no n-war­
ranted part w ill also be replaced free of c harge .

Emergency repairs
Em ergency repai rs performed by non-Volk­
swage n service facility w ill be reim bursed if the
repa ir wo rk was needed and correctly per­
fo rm ed, and
was impossib le or unrea sonable
under the circ umstances to tow or drive your
Vo lkswage n
to the nea res t a uth orized Vo lk­
swagen dealer. The maxim um reim bursement
allowable is an amo unt equal to the cost if yo ur
aut hor ized Volkswagen dea ler had comp le te d
