If the 0 button is pressed often while outside the operating range, it is possible that the vehicle cannot be locked or unlocked anymore with the remote control vehicle key. Synchronize the vehicle key as follows:
x Unfold the key bit on the remote control vehicle key ⇒ Remote control vehicle keys.
x Remove the cap from the door handle on the driver door ⇒ Emergency closing and opening.
x Press the 0 button on the remote control vehicle key. Stand immediately next to vehicle while doing so.
x Manually unlock the vehicle using the key bit within one minute.
x Switch the ignition on with the vehicle key. The synchronization is complete.
x Reinstall the cap.

Removing the front head restraints
x Sit in the back seat behind the head restraint you want to remove. Pull the head restraint all the
way up ⇒ in Adjusting front and rear head restraints. Recline the backrest with the head restraint so that there is enough overhead clearance to remove it.
x Slide a flat object, such as a plastic credit card, underneath the right side of the cap on the right-
hand seat guide rod ⇒ fig. 48 (2) to unlock the head restraint.
x Use one hand to hold the release button in with the flat object. With your other hand, lift the same guide rod slightly to expose a notch in the rod at the bottom (can be seen and felt with fingers). The right-hand guide rod is now released.
x To release the left-hand guide rod, press button (1) in (towards guide rod) and hold.
x Pull the head restraint out completely while holding button (1).
Installing the front head restraints
x Position head restraint properly over the head restraint guides of the respective seat backrest and insert the head restraint into the guides.
x Push the head restraint down while pressing button (1) or ⇒ fig. 49 (1).
x Adjust the head restraint according to the occupant's size ⇒ Adjusting front and rear head restraints.
Removing the rear head restraint
x Unlock the rear bench and fold it forward ⇒ Luggage compartment.
x Pull the head restraint all the way up ⇒ .
x Slide a flat object, such as a plastic credit card, underneath the right side of the cap on the right-hand seat guide rod (2) to unlock the head restraint.
x Use one hand to hold the release button in with the flat object. With your other hand, lift the same guide rod slightly to expose a notch in the rod at the bottom (can be seen and felt with fingers). The right-hand guide rod is now released.
x To release the left-hand guide rod, press button (1) in (towards guide rod) and hold.
x Pull the head restraint out completely while holding button (1).
x Fold the backrest of the rear bench back so that it locks securely.
Reinstalling the rear head restraint
x Unlock the rear bench and fold it forward ⇒ Luggage compartment.
x Position head restraint properly over the head restraint guides of the respective seat backrest and insert the head restraint into the guides.
x Push the head restraint down while pressing button (1).
x Fold the backrest of the rear bench back so that it locks securely.
x Adjust the head restraint according to the occupant's size ⇒ Adjusting front and rear head restraints.
WARNING
Driving without head restraints or with improperly adjusted head restraints increases the risk of serious injuries in a collision.
x Always drive with the head restraints in place and properly adjusted to help minimize the risk of neck injury in crash.
x Always reinstall head restraints as soon as possible so that vehicle occupants are properly protected.

Center armrest

The cushion can be pulled off the center armrest from above to access the cup holders beneath it
⇒ Cup holders in the rear center armrest. When the cushion is replaced, the notch in the cushion must be on the left (small arrow) and securely latched.
To fold up, push the center armrest up as far as it will go.
WARNING
The center armrest can restrict the driver's arm movement and cause crashes and serious personal injury.
x Always keep storage compartments in the center armrest closed while driving.
x Never let a passenger, especially a child, ride on the center armrest. Improper seating position can increase the risk of serious personal injury in a crash.
x Never put hot drinks or other liquids in the cup holder. Hot liquids can spill when the vehicle is moving as well as during braking or other sudden maneuvers.
NOTICE
When the center armrest is folded up, the armrest cushion could be soiled or damaged by items in the luggage compartment.

Initializing clears all memories and assignments of the memory seat. After that, memory buttons can be reprogrammed and assigned to a remote control vehicle key.
x Open the driver door but do not enter the vehicle.
x Adjust the seats from the outside.
x Move the angle of the backrest forward as far as it will go.
x Release the backrest adjustment switch and press it again until you hear a chime sound.
Cancellation conditions when storing settings for the memory buttons
When one of the following conditions is met, the storing process will be cancelled:
x Charging condition of the vehicle battery is weak.
x The SET button is pressed again within about 10 seconds.
x The seat position is readjusted within about 10 seconds after pressing the SET button.

If objects are transported on the front passenger seat while it is folded down, make sure that the PASSENGER AIR BAG /&&  light is on and stays on whenever the ignition is switched on
Folding the front passenger backrest forward
x Remove objects from the front passenger seat ⇒ .
x Move the front passenger seat to the lowest position
x Move the front passenger seat to the rearmost position in the seat's fore and aft adjustment range.
x Push the head restraint all the way down
x Unlock the front passenger backrest in the direction of the arrow ⇒ fig. 55 (1).
x Fold the front passenger backrest forward into the horizontal position in the direction of the arrow (2).
x The front passenger backrest must be securely latched in the folded down position.
Folding the front passenger backrest into place
x Make sure that nobody is near the hinges when folding the backrest back into place.
x Unlock the front passenger backrest to fold it back ⇒ fig. 56.
x Fold the front passenger backrest into the upright position.
x The front passenger backrest must be securely latched in the upright position.
WARNING
Improper folding and improper latching of the front passenger backrest can cause serious personal injury.
x Never fold the front passenger backrest forward or back when the vehicle is moving.
x Always make sure that the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF  light is on and stays on whenever the backrest of the front passenger seat is folded forward.
x Always keep hands, fingers, feet and other body parts out of the way of the seat hinges and the seat locking mechanism when folding the backrest forward and back.
x Floor mats and other objects can get caught in the front passenger backrest hinges. This can cause the front passenger backrest to incorrectly latch when folded back into the upright position.
x When folded back into place, the front passenger backrest must be securely latched in the upright position. An improperly latched front passenger backrest can suddenly move and cause serious personal injury.
WARNING
Open seat mountings and hinges of the folded front passenger backrest can cause severe injuries in the event of a braking maneuver or accident.
x Do not let passengers or children occupy the front passenger seat when the front passenger backrest is folded forward.
x When the front passenger backrest is folded down, only the outer seat of the rear bench behind the driver seat can be occupied. This also applies to children in child safety seats.

Turn the rotary knob to the desired position:
2 Adjust the right outside mirror by pressing the knob to left/right and up/down.
 Neutral position. Outside mirror folded out, no heating or adjustment possible.

Synchronous mirror adjustment
x In the Settings - Convenience menu select “Mirror adjust: Both mirrors” for synchronous outside mirror adjustment
x Turn the adjusting knob to the L position.
x Adjust the left outside mirror. The right (passenger) outside mirror will automatically adjust at the same time.
x If needed, correct the position of the right mirror by turning the adjusting knob to the R position.
Auto-dimming outside mirror on the driver side
The auto-dimming outside mirror is controlled together with the auto-dimming inside mirror ⇒ Inside mirror.
Memory for front passenger side mirror (when backing up)
x Choose the remote control vehicle key that will be used with the settings about to be made.
x Unlock the vehicle with that remote control vehicle key.
x Set the parking brake.
x Shift the transmission into Neutral (N).
x Switch on the ignition.
x Activate the function Mirror down in the Settings - Convenience menu.
x Shift the transmission into reverse.
x Adjust the passenger outside mirror for a clear view of the curb, for example.
x The adjusted mirror position is automatically stored and assigned to the vehicle key used to unlock the vehicle. The preselected position will be recalled when the key assigned to that mirror adjustment position is used again.
Recalling passenger side mirror settings
x Turn the adjusting knob for the side mirrors to the R position.
x Shift the transmission into reverse gear with the ignition switched on.
x The mirror moves back to the regular position when the vehicle moves forwards faster than about 10 mph (15 km/h) or the adjusting knob is turned to the O or L position.
WARNING
Improper use of the folding outside mirrors can cause personal injury.
x Always make sure that nobody is in the way when folding the mirrors in or out.
x Make sure that you do not get your finger caught between the mirror and the mirror base when moving the mirrors.

WARNING
Incorrectly estimating distances with the right outside mirror can cause collisions and serious injury.
x The right outside mirror has a convex (curved) surface. This widens your field of vision. But vehicles or other objects seen in a convex mirror will look smaller and farther away than they really are.
x If you use the right outside mirror to judge distances from vehicles behind you when changing lanes, you could estimate incorrectly and cause a crash and serious injuries.
x Whenever possible, use the inside mirror to more accurately judge distance and size of vehicles or other objects seen in the convex mirror.
x Always make sure you have a clear view to the rear of the vehicle.
NOTICE
x Always fold in the outside mirrors when taking the vehicle through an automatic car wash.
x Never fold power mirrors in manually because doing so could damage the electrical drive.
To reduce fuel consumption, use outside mirror heating only when needed.
When first switched on, outside mirror heating works with maximum heat for about 2 minutes.
If power mirror adjustment does not work, the outside mirrors can be adjusted by hand by pressing on the edges of the mirror surface.
