Your new Volvo is, orcan be, equipped with many feature-rich enter-tainment and communication systems. Theseinclude hands-free cellular telephones, navigationsystems, and multipurpose audio systems. Youmay also own other portable electronic devicesfor your own convenience. When used properlyand safely, they enrich the driving experience.Improperly used, any of these could cause a dis-traction. For all of these systems, we want to provide the following warning that reflects the strong Volvoconcern for your safety. Never use these devicesor any feature of your vehicle in a way that dis-tracts you from the task of driving safely. Distrac-tion can lead to a serious accident. In addition tothis general warning, we offer the following guid-ance regarding specific newer features that maybe found in your vehicle:

• Never use a hand-held cellular telephone while driving. Some jurisdictions prohibitcellular telephone use by a driver whilethe vehicle is moving.
• If your vehicle is equipped with a naviga-tion system, set and make changes toyour travel itinerary only with the vehicleparked.
• Never program your audio system whilethe vehicle is moving. Program radio pre-sets with the vehicle parked, and use yourprogrammed presets to make radio usequicker and simpler.
• Never use portable computers or per-sonal digital assistants while the vehicleis moving.
Accessory installation

In all cases, please consult a trained and qualified Volvo service technician beforeinstalling any accessory in or on your vehicle.
• Accessories that have not been approved byVolvo may or may not be specifically testedfor compatibility with your vehicle. Addition-ally, an inexperienced installer may not befamiliar with some of your car's systems.

Reporting safety defects in the U.S.
If you believe that your vehicle has a defect which could cause a crash orcould cause injury or death, you shouldimmediately inform the National High-way Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) in addition to notifying VolvoCar USA, LLC. If NHTSA receives simi-lar complaints, it may open an investi-gation, and if it finds that a safetydefect exists in a group of vehicles, itmay order a recall and remedy cam-paign. Location of the ambient temperature sensor, A: digital instrument panel *, B: analog instrument panel
NOTE
When the ambient temperature is between 23° and 36 °F (–5° and +2 °C), a snowflakesymbol will be displayed next to the tempera-ture. This symbol serves as a warning for pos-sible slippery road surfaces. Please note that this symbol does not indicate a fault with your
vehicle. At low speeds or when the vehicle is not mov- ing, the temperature readings may be slightlyhigher than the actual ambient temperature.

Possible positions
To adjust the steering wheel's height and reach:
1. Pull the lever toward you to release the steering wheel.
2. Adjust the steering wheel to the position that suits you. 3. Push back the lever to lock the steering
wheel in place. If the lever is difficult to push into place, press the steering wheel lightly atthe same time as you push the lever.

Storage compartment (for CDs, etc.) under armrest, AUX input/USB connector.
Includes cup holder for driver and passenger, 12-volt socket (p. 136) and a small storagecompartment.

Tunnel console – 12-volt sockets
The electrical sockets can be used for 12-volt accessories such as cell phone chargers andcoolers. For the socket to supply current, theignition must be in at least mode I (p. 74). The
sockets are located between the cup holders inthe tunnel console and on the rear side of thetunnel console (p. 136) for rear seat passen-gers.

The maximum current consumption is 10A (120W) if only one of the 12-volt sockets in thepassenger compartment is in use. If both thefront and rear sockets are used at the same time,the maximum current consumption per socket is7.5A (90W). The auxiliary sockets can also be used to power a cigarette lighter. Accessory cigarette lighters andashtrays can be purchased from your Volvoretailer.

Onboard Diagnostic System OBD II is part of your vehicle's computerized engine management system. It stores diagnosticinformation about your vehicle's emission con-trols. It can light the Check Engine light (MIL) if itdetects an emission control "fault." A "fault" is acomponent or system that is not performingwithin an expected range. A fault may be perma-nent or temporary. OBD II will store a messageabout any fault.
Emission inspection readiness
How do states use OBD II for emission inspections?
Many states connect a computer directly to a vehicle's OBD II system. The inspector can thenread "faults." In some states, this type of inspec-tion has replaced the tailpipe emission test.
How can my vehicle fail OBD II emission inspection?
Your vehicle can fail OBD II emission inspection for any of the following reasons.
• If your Check Engine (MIL) light is lit, yourvehicle may fail inspection.
• If your vehicle's Check Engine light was lit,but went out without any action on your part,OBD II will still have a recorded fault. Yourvehicle may pass or fail, depending on theinspection practices in your area.
• If you had recent service that required dis-connecting the battery, OBD II diagnostic information may be incomplete and "notready" for inspection. A vehicle that is notready may fail inspection.
How can I prepare for my next OBD II
emission inspection?
• If your Check Engine (MIL) light is lit – or was lit but went out without service, have yourvehicle diagnosed and, if necessary, servicedby a qualified Volvo technician.
• If you recently had service for a lit CheckEngine light, or if you had service thatrequired disconnecting the battery, a periodof driving is necessary to bring the OBD IIsystem to "ready" for inspection. Two half-hour trips of mixed stop-and-go/highwaydriving are typically needed to allow OBD II toreach readiness. Your Volvo retailer can pro-vide you with more information on planning atrip.
• Maintain your vehicle in accordance with yourvehicle's maintenance schedule.
Booking service and repairs
Connected Service Booking (CSB) makes set- ting up a time for service, maintenance and/orrepairs directly from the vehicle quick and con-venient.
Prerequisites
• The owner (primary driver) must have a valid Volvo ID. See Volvo ID (p. 20) for additionalinformation.
• The vehicle must be connected to the Inter- net using a paired Bluetooth ®
cell phone.
See your Sensus Infotainment supplement for information on pairing a cell phone. On models equipped with Volvo On Call (VOC) *,
you can connect to the Internet using your separate VOC data plan. Refer to your sepa-rate Volvo On Call manual.
