DRIVER SUPPORT

A camera monitors the traffic lane's marker linesand compares the direction of the road with thedriver's movements of the steering wheel.
The vehicle is moving erratically in the lane.
If driving behavior becomesconsiderably erratic, the driverwill be alerted by this symbol inthe instrument panel, an audi-ble signal and the messageTime for a break.
If the vehicle is equipped with SensusNavigation* and the Rest Stop Guidance func-tion is activated, suggestions will also be providedfor suitable places to take a break.
The warning will be repeated after a short time ifdriving behavior does not improve.

WARNING
Driver Alert Control must not be used toextend a period of driving. The driver shouldplan in breaks at regular intervals and makesure they are well rested.

WARNING
The function is supplementary driver sup-port intended to facilitate driving and helpmake it safer – it cannot handle all situa-tions in all traffic, weather and road condi-tions.
The driver is advised to read all sectionsin the Owner's Manual about this functionto learn of its limitations, which the drivermust be aware of before using the func-tion.
Driver support functions are not a substi-tute for the driver's attention and judg-ment. The driver is always responsible forensuring the vehicle is driven in a safemanner, at the appropriate speed, with anappropriate distance to other vehicles,and in accordance with current trafficrules and regulations.
WARNING
An alarm from Driver Alert Control should betaken very seriously since a sleepy driver isoften not aware of their own condition.
If the alarm sounds or you feel fatigued:
Stop the vehicle safely as soon as possi-ble and rest.
Studies have shown that it is just as danger-ous to drive while tired as it is to drive underthe influence of alcohol or other stimulants.

Select gears by moving the spring-loaded, non-locking gear selector forward or backward.

Gear selector positions
Park - P
Park is activated using the P button located nextto the gear selector.
Select P when the vehicle is parked or when star-ting the engine. The vehicle must be stationarywhen Park is selected.
To move to another gear from Park, the brakepedal must be depressed and the ignition inmode II.
When parking – apply the parking brake beforeshifting to Park.
WARNING
Always apply the parking brake when parkingon an incline. Selecting a gear or putting theautomatic transmission in P may not be suffi-cient to keep the vehicle stationary in all sit-uations.

NOTE
The gear selector must be in the P positionbefore the vehicle can be locked and thealarm set.
Help functions
The system will automatically shift to P
if the ignition is switched off while D or R isselected.
if the driver unbuckles the seat belt andopens the driver's door while the vehicle isrunning with the gear selector in a gear otherthan P.
To park a vehicle with an unbuckled seat belt andopen door – end P mode by shifting to R or Dagain.
The system will not automatically shift to P if theignition is switched off while the gear selector isin the neutral position (N). This is to make it pos-sible to wash the vehicle in an automatic carwash in which the vehicle is pulled forward onrolling wheels.
Reverse - R
Select R when backing up. The vehicle must bestationary when Reverse is selected.

Neutral - N
No gear is selected and the engine can bestarted. Apply the parking brake if the vehicle isstationary with the gear selector in N.
To move the gear selector from Neutral toanother gear, the brake pedal must be depressedand the ignition in mode II.

D drive mode
D is the normal driving gear position. The trans-mission shifts up or down automatically depend-ing on acceleration and speed.
The vehicle must be stationary when the gearselector is moved from R to D.

Recovery
This section refers to transporting the vehiclewith a tow truck or similar vehicle.
Call a professional towing service for assistance.
In certain conditions, the towing eyelet can beused to pull the vehicle onto a flatbed tow truck.

CAUTION
Note that vehicles with Twin Engine mustalways be towed raised with all wheels on thetow truck.
The vehicle's location and ground clearancedetermine if it can be lifted onto a tow truck. Ifthe incline of the tow truck is too steep or if theground clearance under the vehicle is insufficient,attempting to pull it up may result in damage. Inthis case, the vehicle should only be lifted withthe tow truck's lifting equipment.

WARNING
No person or object should be behind the towtruck when the vehicle is lifted onto the bedof the truck.

HomeLink®15 is a programmable remote control,integrated in the vehicle electrical system, thatcan control up to three different devices (e.g.garage door opener, alarm system, outdoor andindoor lighting) and thereby replace the remotecontrols for these.

Programming individual buttons
To program an individual HomeLink® button:
1. Press and hold the desired button for about20 seconds.
2.When the indicator light on HomeLink®
starts flashing slowly, it is possible to pro-gram as usual.
Note: If the button you are reprogrammingdoes not program with a new device, it willreturn to the previously saved programming.

Resetting the HomeLink ®
buttons
It is only possible to reset all HomeLink® buttonsat once. It is not possible to reset individual but-tons. Individual buttons can only be reprogram-med.
–Press and hold the outer buttons (1 and 3)
on HomeLink® for about 10 seconds.
>When the indicator light goes from asteady glow to flashing, the buttons havebeen reset and are ready for reprogram-ming.

Once HomeLink® is programmed, it can beused instead of the separate remote controls.
Press and hold the programming button. Thegarage door, gate, alarm system, etc. will be acti-vated (this may take several seconds). If the but-ton is held down for more than 20 seconds,reprogramming will begin. The indicator light willglow steadily or flash when the button has beenpressed. The original remote controls may be
used concurrently with HomeLink® if desired.
NOTE
When the ignition is switched off, HomeLink®
will be active for at least 7 minutes.

NOTE
HomeLink® cannot be used if the vehicle islocked and the alarm is armed* from the out-side.
WARNING
If you use HomeLink® to open a garagedoor or gate, be sure no one is near thegate or door while it is in motion.
Do not use HomeLink® with any garagedoor opener that lacks safety stop andreverse features as required by US fed-eral safety standards (this includes anygarage door opener model manufacturedbefore April 1, 1982). A garage door thatcannot detect an object - signaling thedoor to stop and reverse - does not meetcurrent U.S. federal safety standards. Formore information, contact HomeLink at:www.homelink.com.

WARNING
Store loose objects, such as cell phone, cam-era, remote control for extra equipment, etc.,in the glove compartment or another compart-ment. Otherwise, these could injure people inthe vehicle in the event of hard braking or acollision.
CAUTION
Keep in mind that glossy surfaces can beeasily scratched by e.g. metal objects. Do notplace keys, phones or similar items on sensi-tive surfaces.

NOTE
One of the sensors for the alarm* is locatedunder the cup holder in the center console.Avoid placing coins, keys and other metalobjects in the cup holder as this could triggerthe alarm.
