The driver should be aware of the following limi-tations for Park Assist Pilot:

The parking sequence is cancelled
A parking sequence will be cancelled if:
The driver moves the steering wheel
The vehicle's speed exceeds 7 km/h(4 mph)
The driver taps Cancel in the center display
When the anti-lock brakes or the Electronicstability control are engaged - e.g. when awheel loses grip on a slippery road
When speed-dependent power steeringwheel resistance is working at reducedpower – e.g. during cooling due to overheat-ing.
A message in the center display will explain whythe parking sequence was cancelled.
CAUTION
Under certain circumstances, the functionmay not be able to find parking spaces – onereason may be that the sensors are disruptedby external sound sources that emit the sameultrasonic frequencies that the system workswith.
Examples of such sources include horns, wettires on asphalt, pneumatic brakes, exhaustnoise from motorcycles, etc.

NOTE
Dirt, ice and snow covering the sensorsreduce their function and can make measure-ment impossible.

Driver responsibility
The driver should keep in mind that the functionis a parking aid ‒ not an infallible fully automaticsystem. The driver must always be prepared totake control and cancel a parking sequence ifnecessary.
There are a number of things to keep in mindwhen parking, including:
The driver is always responsible for determin-ing if the space suggested by the function issuitable for parking.
Do not use the function when using snowchains or a temporary spare tire.
Do not use the function if there are anyobjects protruding from the vehicle.
Heavy rain or snowfall may inhibit PAP's abil-ity to accurately measure a parking space.
While searching and measuring the parkingspace, the function may be unable to detectobjects located far into the space.
PAP may not suggest parking spaces onnarrow streets if it does not detect sufficientspace for maneuvering the vehicle.
Use approved tires96 inflated to the correcttire pressure because this affects the func-tion's ability to provide parking assistance.
The function is based on the way the vehi-cles are parked behind and in front of yourparking space. If they are, for example,parked too close to the curb, there is a riskthat your vehicle's tires or wheel rims couldbe damaged by the curb during the parkingprocedure.
96"Approved tires" refers to tires of the same type and make as the vehicle's original, factory-installed tires.

Tire age
Tires degrade over time, even when they are notbeing used. It is recommended that tires gener-ally be replaced after 6 years of normal service.Heat caused by hot climates, frequent high load-ing conditions or Ultra Violet (U.V.) exposure canaccelerate the aging process. The temporary
spare 2 should also be replaced at 6-year inter-vals, even if it has never been used. A tire withe.g., visible cracks or discoloration should bereplaced immediately.

Tire economy
Maintain correct tire pressure.
Avoid fast starts, hard braking and tirescreeching.
Tire wear increases with speed.
Correct front wheel alignment is very impor-tant.
Unbalanced wheels impair tire economy anddriving comfort.
Tires must maintain the same direction ofrotation throughout their lifetime.
When replacing tires, the tires with the mosttread should be mounted on the rear wheelsto reduce the chance of oversteer duringhard braking.
Hitting curbs or potholes can damage thetires and/or wheels permanently.
Tire rotation
Your vehicle has no required tire rotation. Drivingstyle, tire pressure, climate and road conditionsaffect how quickly the tires age and exhibit signsof wear. Maintaining the correct tire pressurehelps keep tread wear evenly distributed.
To help prevent differences in tread depth andwear patterns forming on the tires, the front andrear wheels should be rotated, i.e. the front tiresmoved to the rear and the rear tires moved to thefront. Ideally, tire rotation should be done the firsttime after approximately 5000 km (ca3100 miles) and thereafter at 10,000 km(approx. 6200 miles) intervals.
If you have any questions regarding tread depth,Volvo recommends consulting an authorizedVolvo workshop. If significant differences in wear(> 1 mm difference in tread depth) between thetires have already occurred, the least worn tiresshould always be mounted on the rear wheels. Afront-wheel skid (understeer) is usually easier to
control than a rear-wheel skid (oversteer). If thefront wheels skid, the vehicle will continue in astraight line instead of the rear wheels skiddingto the side, which could cause you to completelylose control of the vehicle. It is therefore impor-tant that the rear wheels never lose grip beforethe front wheels.
Storing wheels and tires
When storing complete wheels (tires mounted onrims), they should be suspended off the floor orplaced on their sides on the floor.
Tires not mounted on rims should be stored ontheir sides or standing upright, but should not besuspended.

CAUTION
Tires should preferably be stored in a cool,dry, dark place, and should never be stored inclose proximity to solvents, gasoline, oils, etc.

Jack*
The jack can be used to lift the vehicle to e.g.change a wheel.

CAUTION
When not in use, the jack* should be keptin its storage compartment under thecargo compartment floor.
The jack provided with your vehicle isintended to be used only in temporary sit-uations such as changing wheels in theevent of a flat tire. Only the jack thatcame with your particular model shouldbe used to lift the vehicle. If the vehicleneeds to be lifted more frequently or for aprolonged period, using a garage jack orhoist is recommended. Always follow thisdevice's instructions for use.
The jack needs to be cranked together to thecorrect position in order to fit.
For vehicles with Leveling Control*: If the vehi-cle is equipped with the optional pneumatic sus-pension, it must be turned off before the vehicleis lifted on a jack.

Wheel bolts
The wheel bolts hold the wheel in place on thewheel hub.
Only use rims that have been tested andapproved by Volvo and are included in Volvo'soriginal product range.
Use a torque wrench to check that the wheelbolts are tightened correctly.
Do not grease the wheel bolt threads.

WARNING
The wheel bolts may need to be tightenedagain several days after a wheel change.Temperature fluctuations and vibrations cancause them to loosen slightly.

CAUTION
The wheel bolts should be tightened to140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.). Over-tightening orunder-tightening could damage the threadedjoints.

Locking wheel bolts *
A tool for removing the locking wheel bolts islocated in the foam block under the cargo com-partment floor.

Snow tires
Snow tires are designed for winter driving condi-tions.
Volvo recommends snow tires with specificdimensions. The tire dimensions vary dependingon engine type. When driving with snow tires, thecorrect type of tires must be mounted on all fourwheels.

NOTE
Contact a Volvo dealer for advice on the bestchoice of rims and tires.

Tips for changing snow tires
When switching between regular tires and snowtires, mark the tires according to which side theywere mounted on, e.g. L for left and R for right.

Studded tires
Studded tires should be broken in by driving500–1000 km (300–600 miles) slowly and gen-tly to help the studs settle properly in the tires.This gives the tire, and especially the studs, alonger service life.

NOTE
Regulations regarding the use of studdedtires vary from country to country.
Tread depth
Road conditions with ice, slush and low tempera-tures place considerably higher demands on tiresthan summer conditions. Volvo therefore recom-mends not driving on snow tires that have a treaddepth of less than 4 mm (0.15 inch).

Snow chains
Using snow chains and/or snow tires can helpimprove traction in winter driving conditions.
Volvo recommends that snow chains are notused on wheel dimensions other than 7.5x18 ET45 235/45.

WARNING
Use Volvo genuine snow chains or equivalentsnow chains that are suitable for the vehiclemodel and the tire and wheel sizes. Only one-sided snow chains are permitted.
If uncertain about snow chains, Volvo recom-mends contacting an authorized Volvo work-shop. Use of the wrong snow chains couldcause serious damage to the vehicle andresult in an accident.

Cleaning interior plastic, metal andwood surfaces
Only use cleaning agents and car care productsrecommended by Volvo. Clean regularly andtreat stains immediately for best results.

Interior plastic, metal and wood
surfaces
A lightly dampened microfiber cloth is recom-mended for cleaning interior details and surfaces.These cloths are available for purchase at Volvoretailers.
Never scrape or rub a stain. Never use strongstain removers.

CAUTION
Do not use solvent containing alcohol toclean the instrument panel glass.

CAUTION
Keep in mind that glossy surfaces can beeasily scratched. Wipe these surfaces with aclean and dry microfiber cloth using small, cir-cular motions. If necessary, moisten the clothlightly with clean water.

Polishing and waxing
Polish and wax the vehicle when the paint ismatte or to provide extra protection. The vehicledoes not need to be polished until it is at least ayear old. However, it can be waxed during thefirst year. Do not polish or wax the vehicle indirect sunlight. The surface of the vehicle shouldnot be warmer than 45 °C (113 °F).
Wash and dry the vehicle very carefullybefore polishing or waxing. Remove asphaltand tar stains with asphalt remover or paintthinner. More stubborn stains can beremoved with a grinding paste designed forvehicle paint.
Use polish first and then liquid or paste wax.Follow the instructions on the package care-fully. Many products contain both polish andwax.
A wide range of polymer-based waxes canbe purchased today. These waxes are easy touse and produce a long-lasting, high-glossfinish that protects the bodywork against oxi-dation, road dirt and fading.

CAUTION
Avoid waxing and polishing plastic and rubber.
If using degreaser on plastic and rubber, onlyrub (if necessary) with slight pressure. Use asoft sponge.
Polishing glossy trim moldings can wear awayor damage the glossy surface layer.
Polish containing abrasives must not be used.

CAUTION
Only use paintwork treatments recommendedby Volvo. Other treatments, such as preserva-tion, sealing, protection, luster sealing or simi-lar, could damage the paintwork. Paintworkdamage caused by such treatments are notcovered by Volvo's warranty.

Hand washing

Hand washing
Keep the following points in mind when washingthe vehicle:
Avoid washing the vehicle in direct sunlight.This could cause the detergent or wax to dryout and become abrasive.
Remove bird droppings from paintwork assoon as possible. It contains chemicals thataffect and discolor paintwork very quickly.Use e.g. soft paper or a sponge soaked inlots of water. Consult an authorized Volvoworkshop for assistance removing discolora-tion.
Hose down the underbody, including thewheel housings and bumper.
Hose down the entire vehicle and removeany loose dirt, droppings etc. to reduce therisk of scratches from washing. Do not spraydirectly onto locks.
If necessary, use cold degreaser on heavilysoiled surfaces. Note that in such cases thesurfaces must not be hot from the sun.

Wash using a sponge, car washing detergentand plenty of lukewarm water.
Clean the wiper blades with lukewarm soapsolution or car washing detergent.
Dry the vehicle using a clean, soft chamois ora squeegee. Try not to let drops of water dryin strong sunlight. This could cause waterdrying stains that may need to be polishedout.
In areas with heavy industrial emissions,more frequent washing of the vehicle's exte-rior is recommended.
Tar spots from asphalt may remain even afterwashing. Use a tar remover to remove thesespots after washing the vehicle.

WARNING
Always entrust engine washing to a workshop.If the engine is hot, there is a risk of fire.

CAUTION
Dirty headlights do not work as well. Cleanthem regularly, e.g. when refueling.
Do not use corrosive cleaners. Use water anda non-abrasive sponge.
NOTE
Exterior lighting such as headlights and tail-lights may develop temporary condensationon the inside of the lens. This is normal. Allexterior lighting is designed to resist this.Condensation is normally vented out of thelamp housing once the light has been lit forsome period of time.

CAUTION
Make sure that the panoramic roof* andsun shade are closed before washing thevehicle.
Never use abrasive polishing agents onthe panoramic roof.
Never use wax on the rubber sealsaround the panoramic roof.

CAUTION
Remember to remove dirt from the drainholes in the doors and sills after washing thevehicle.

Automatic car washes
The vehicle should be washed as soon as itbecomes dirty. This makes the vehicle easier toclean because dirt does not attach as strongly. Italso reduces the risk of scratches and keeps thevehicle looking new.
An automatic car wash is a fast and easy way tokeep your vehicle clean, but it does not reach allareas of the vehicle. For best results, Volvo rec-ommends hand washing your vehicle or supple-menting automatic car washes with a hand wash.

NOTE
Volvo recommends not washing the vehicle inan automatic car wash during the first fewmonths; the paintwork on new vehicles takessome time to fully harden.

CAUTION
Before driving the vehicle into a car wash,deactivate the Automatic Braking when Sta-tionary and Automatic Parking Brake Applica-tion functions. If the functions are not deacti-vated, the brake system will seize when thevehicle is stationary and the vehicle will not beable to roll.
CAUTION
For automatic car washes in which the vehicleis pulled forward on rolling wheels:
1.Before washing the vehicle, make surethat the automatic rain sensor is deacti-vated. If it is not deactivated and inadver-tently starts, the wiper arms could bedamaged.
2. To help prevent damage from the auto-matic car wash machinery, make surethat the door mirrors are folded in, anten-nas retracted or removed, and any auxili-ary lights secured.
3. Drive into the automatic car wash.
4. Turn off the "Automatic Braking when
Stationary" function using the buttonin the tunnel console.
5.Turn off the "Automatic Parking BrakeApplication" function in the center dis-play's Top view.
6. Turn off the engine by turning the startknob in the tunnel console clockwise.Hold the knob in position for at least2 seconds.
The vehicle is now ready for the automatic carwash.
CAUTION
The system will automatically change to Pmode if the above steps are not followed. In Pmode, the wheels are locked, which theyshould not be when the vehicle is beingwashed in a car wash.

Wash the wiper blades and windshield regu-larly with a lukewarm soap solution or vehicleshampoo. Do not use strong solvents.
