Activating and deactivating Low Speed Control using the functionbutton There is a function button for driving at low speeds with
Hill Descent Control in the cen-
ter display's Function view if the vehicle is not equipped with a drive mode control in thetunnel console.
Selecting Low Speed Control in the center display's Function view
–Tap the Hill Descent Control button to
activate or deactivate the function.
> An indicator light in the button will illu- minate when the function is activated.
When the engine is switched off, the function will be automatically deactivated.
NOTE
The function is deactivated when driving at high speeds and must be reactivated atlower speeds if so desired.

Hill Descent Control
The function for assisting when driving down- hill (HDC 12
) is a low-speed function with
increased engine braking. The function makes it possible to increase or decrease thevehicle's speed on steep downhill gradientsby only using the accelerator pedal, withoutapplying the brakes. The function is included in the
Off Road drive
mode.
HDC is designed for driving on rough roads at low speeds and downhill gradients with slip-pery or otherwise difficult road surfaces. Thedriver does not need to use the brake pedalbut can instead focus on steering.
WARNING
HDC is only intended to be a supplemen- tary braking aid and it does not function inall situations. The driver is always ultimately responsible for operating the vehicle in a safe manner.
FunctionHill Descent Control allows the vehicle to move forward or backward at very low speedsassisted by the brake system. The driver canincrease the speed by pressing the acceleratorpedal. When the accelerator pedal is released,

Economical driving
Drive economically and more environmentally conscious by thinking ahead and avoidingrapid starts and stops.
Adapt your driving style and speed to the cur- rent traffic conditions. To help achieve the greatest distance with the lowest fuel consumption with Twin Engine,observe the following:
Charge
Charge the vehicle regularly by plugging it into an electrical outlet. Make it a habit toalways begin trips with the hybrid batteryfully charged.
Locate charging stations along your route.
If possible, choose parking spots withcharging stations.
NOTE
Charge the vehicle from the electricity grid as often as possible!
Preconditioning
Whenever possible, precondition the vehi- cle before driving by connecting thecharging cable to an electrical outlet.
Avoid parking the vehicle somewherewhere the interior will become too hot ortoo cold while the vehicle is parked. If pos- sible, park the vehicle in a climate-con-trolled garage.
During a short drive after passenger com-partment preconditioning, turn off thepassenger compartment fan or the airconditioning in a hot climate.
If preconditioning is not possible when itis cold outside, use seat and steeringwheel heating first. Avoid heating theentire passenger compartment to reducethe amount of current being taken fromthe hybrid battery.

Driving
Choose the Pure drive mode to help mini-
mize electric power consumption.
Maintain a steady speed and a generous following distance to traffic ahead to mini-mize braking. This drive mode has thelowest power consumption.
Balance energy requirements using theaccelerator pedal. Use the indicator on theinstrument panel to see available electricpower and avoid starting the combustionengine unnecessarily. The electric motor ismore effective than the combustionengine, especially at low speeds.
When braking is necessary, brake gentlyusing the brake pedal. This will helprecharge the hybrid battery. A regenerativefunction is integrated in the brake pedaland can be augmented by the electricmotor's braking capacity when the gearselector is in mode
B.
Higher speeds increase energy consump-tion - air resistance increases with speed.
Activate the
Hold function in the Function
view at high speeds when traveling farther than is possible using the hybrid battery'scapacity.
Whenever possible, avoid using the
Charge function to charge the hybrid bat-
tery. Charging the battery using the com- bustion engine increases fuel consump- tion and carbon dioxide emissions.
In a cold climate, reduce heating of thewindshield/rear window, mirrors, seatsand the steering wheel.
Maintain the correct pressure in the tiresand check pressure regularly.
The type of tires used could affect energyconsumption - consult a retailer for adviceon suitable tires.
Remove unnecessary items from the vehi-cle - the heavier the load, the higher thefuel consumption.
Roof loads increase air resistance andincrease fuel consumption. Remove roofboxes, ski racks, etc. that are not in use.
Avoid driving with the windows open.
Do not keep the vehicle still on an upwardgradient by using the accelerator pedal.Use the brakes instead.

Factors affecting electric motor range
A number of factors affect the electric motor's driving range. The ability to achieve along driving range varies according to theoutside conditions and to how the vehicle isdriven.
The certified value for the distance that can be driven using the electric motor should not beconsidered an expected driving range. Theactual range is dependent on a number of fac-tors.
Factors affecting driving rangeThe driver can influence some factors affectingdriving range, but not all. The longest range is achieved under very favorable conditions when all factors positivelyinfluence range.

Never expose the battery to open flameor electric spark. Do not smoke nearthe battery. Failure to follow theinstructions for jump starting can leadto injury.

Retractable hitch
*
The retractable hitch is designed to be used to tow a trailer or mount a bicycle holder. Thehitch can be easily retracted or extended asneeded. When retracted, the hitch is com-pletely concealed.
Folding out the hitch1.
Open the tailgate. There is a button for operating the hitch on the right-hand sideat the rear of the cargo compartment.Steady orange illumination from the indi-cator light in the button shows that thefolding function is active. 2. Press the button and release – pressing
too long on the button may prevent thehitch from folding out.
> The hitch will fold out and down to anunlocked position – the indicator lamp will flash orange. The hitch is ready tobe moved to the locked position.
3.
Move the hitch to its end position, where it will lock in place – the indicator lamp willglow steadily orange.
> The hitch is now ready for use.

Trailer Stability Assist *
Trailer Stability Assist (TSA 16
) is a function
designed to help stabilize a vehicle that is towing a trailer when the vehicle and trailerhave begun to sway. The function is part of the Electronic Stability Control system ESC 17
.
Reasons for swayingA vehicle towing a trailer may begin to sway for various reasons. Normally this only occursat high speeds. However, if the trailer is over-loaded or unevenly distributed, e.g. too farback, there is a risk of swaying even at lowspeeds. Swaying may be caused by factors such as:
The vehicle and trailer are hit by a sudden, strong crosswind.
The vehicle and trailer are traveling on anuneven road or over a bump.
Sudden movements of the steering wheel.
Once swaying has begun, it can be difficult orimpossible to stop it. This makes the vehicleand trailer difficult to control and there is a riskof swerving into oncoming traffic or driving offthe road.
Trailer Stability Assist functionTrailer Stability Assist continuously monitorsthe vehicle's movements, particularly lateral movements. If swaying is detected, the brakesare applied individually on the front wheels,which has a stabilizing effect on the vehicleand trailer. This is often enough to enable thedriver to regain control of the vehicle. If the Trailer Stability Assist function's first attempt is not adequate to stop the swayingmotion, the brakes are applied on all wheelsand engine power is temporarily reduced. Asthe swaying motion begins to decrease andthe vehicle and trailer have once againbecome stable, TSA stops regulating thebrakes/engine power and the driver regainscontrol of the vehicle.
NOTE
Trailer Stability Assist is deactivated if the driver selects the sport mode by deactivat- ing
ESC in the center display's menu sys-
tem.
Trailer Stability Assist may not intervene if the driver tries to compensate for the swayingmotion by moving the steering wheel rapidly,because the system will then not be able todetermine if it is the trailer or the driver caus-ing the swaying. When Trailer Stability Assistis activated, the ESC symbolis displayed in the instrumentpanel.

Checking trailer lights
When connecting a trailer, make sure that all of the lights on the trailer are functioningbefore starting to drive.
Trailer turn signals and brake lightsIf one or more of the turn signals or brake lights on the trailer is not working, a symboland message will be displayed in the instru-ment panel. The other lights on the trailermust be checked manually by the driver beforethe vehicle is driven.

If any of the trailer's turn signal lights is not working, the turn signal symbol in the instru-ment panel will also flash more quickly thannormal.
Trailer rear fog lightWhen a trailer is connected, the vehicle's rearfog light may not illuminate and rear fog lightfunctionality is instead transferred to the trailer. If this is the case, check to see if thetrailer is equipped with a rear fog light beforeactivating the vehicle's fog lights when drivingwith a trailer to help ensure safe operation.

Automatic check
When the trailer has been connected to the vehicle's electrical system, its lights can bechecked by automatically activating them.This function helps the driver check that thetrailer's lights are functioning correctly beforestarting to drive. In order to perform this check, the vehicle must be switched off.
1. When a trailer is connected to the towbar,
the message

Check will appear in the instrument panel.
2. Acknowledge the message by pressing the O button on the right-side steering
wheel keypad.
> The light check will begin.
3. Get out of the vehicle to perform the check.
> All of the lights on the trailer will beginflashing, and then illuminate separately one at a time.
4. Visually check that all of the trailer's lights are functioning correctly. 5. After a short time, all of the trailer's lights
will start flashing again.
> The light check is completed.
Disabling the automatic check
The automatic light check can be disabled in the center display. 1.Tap

3. Deselect
Automatic Trailer Lamp
Check.
Manual check
If the automatic check has been disabled, the check can be started manually. 1. Tap

Audio, media and Internet
The audio and media system consists of a media player and a radio. A cellular phone canalso be connected through Bluetooth to usehands-free functions or play music in thevehicle. When the vehicle is connected to theInternet, it is also possible to use apps to playmedia.
Audio and media overview
The functions can be controlled using voice commands, the steering wheel keypad or thecenter display. The number of speakers andamplifiers varies depending on the audio sys-tem installed in the vehicle.

The audio and media system is continuously improved. It is recommended to download system updates as soon as they are available.

Sound settings
Sound reproduction quality is preset but can also be adjusted.
The system's volume is normally adjusted using the volume control below the center dis-play or the right-side steering wheel keypad.This applies, for example, when playing musicor the radio or during phone calls and activetraffic messages.
Sound reproductionThe audio system is precalibrated using digitalsignal processing. This calibration takes intoaccount speakers, amplifiers, passenger com-partment acoustics, listener position, etc. foreach combination of vehicle model and audiosystem. There is also a dynamic calibrationthat takes into account the volume control set-ting and the vehicle's speed.

The radio can receive broadcasting from the FM waveband with HD Radio ™ Technology
and SiriusXM ®
Satellite radio *. When the
vehicle has an Internet connection, it is alsopossible to listen to web radio.
The radio can be controlled using voice commands, theright-side steering wheel key-pad or the center display.

Changing wavebandsSwipe from App view on the center display and select the desired waveband (e.g. FM) or
open the App menu in the instrument panel with the right-side steering wheel keypad andmake your selection there.
Changing a list in a waveband
1. Tap Library.
2. Select playback from
Stations, Favoritesor Genres.
3. Tap the desired station in the list.
Favorites – only plays selected favorite chan-
nels.
Genres - only plays channels broadcasting the
selected genre or program type, e.g. pop, clas- sical, etc.
Changing radio stations in a selected
list
–Press or under the center display
or on the right-side steering wheel key- pad.
> Move step-by-step through the selected list.
It is also possible to change radio station in the selected list via the center display.

Searching for a radio station
The radio automatically compiles a list of the radio stations that are sending out the stron-gest signals in the vehicle's current location.
Searching is performed in different ways depending on the waveband selected:
FM, stations, genres and frequency.

3. Enter a search word/phrase. > The search will start and change ascharacters are entered. Search results will be displayed by category.

Searching manually makes it possible to find and tune to stations that are not on the auto-matically compiled list of the strongest sta-tions in the area.

It is possible to add a radio station in the
Radio favorites app and in the list of favor-
ites for the waveband (e.g. FM). Instructions for adding and removing radio channels areprovided below.

2. Tap the desired station in the list to listen.
Adding and deleting radio favorites
1. Tap to add a radio channel to the
waveband's list of favorites or the Radio favorites app.

Library, select Edit and tap to
delete a radio channel from the list of favorites.
When you delete a radio channel from theRadio favorites app, the channel will also bedeleted from that waveband's list of favorites.
