Park Assist Camera *
Blind sectors
There are "blind" sectors between the cameras' fields of vision.
With Park Assist Camera's 360° view *
selected, objects/obstacles may not be detected if they are located in the "joints"where the edges of the individual cameraviews meet.
WARNING
Even if it seems as though only a fairly small section of the screen image isobstructed, this may mean that a relativelylarge sector is hidden and obstacles theremay not be detected until they are verynear the vehicle.
Defective camera
If a camera sector is dark and contains this symbol, thisindicates that the camera isnot functioning properly. See the following illustration for an example.
The vehicle's left-side camera is malfunctioning.
A dark camera sector may also be displayed in the following situations, but without the
defective camera symbol: a door is open
the tailgate is open
a rearview mirror is folded in
Lighting conditions
The camera image is automatically adjusted according to the current lighting conditions.This means that the brightness and quality of the image may vary slightly. Poor lighting con-ditions may result in reduced image quality.
Rear Park Assist Camera
WARNING
Be extra cautious when reversing if this symbol isshown when a trailer, bikecarrier or similar isattached and electricallyconnected to the vehicle. The symbol indicates that
the rear parking assist sensors are deacti-
vated and will not warn of any obstacles.
NOTE
A bike carrier and other accessories moun- ted on the rear of the vehicle can obscurethe camera's view.

Leveling control * and suspension
The vehicle's leveling control system adjusts the suspension and shock absorbers auto-matically to help optimize comfort and con-trol while driving. Leveling can also be con-trolled manually to facilitate loading or get-ting in and out of the vehicle.
Manually adjustable shock absorbers *The suspension on Polestar Engineered* vehi-
cles can be manually adjusted. There are three recommended modes: Performance,engineered and Comfort.
Performance mode
In Performance mode, the vehicle's suspen- sion feels stiffer.
Engineered, factory setting
Engineered is designed for daily driving.
Comfort mode
In Comfort mode, the vehicle's suspension feels softer.
Pneumatic suspension and shock
absorbers
The system is adapted to the selected drivemode and vehicle speed. The pneumatic sus- pension reduces the vehicle's ground clear-ance at higher speeds to reduce air resistanceand increase stability. The shock absorbers arenormally set to help optimize comfort and areadjusted continuously according to the roadsurface and the vehicle's acceleration, brakingand cornering.
The instrument panel indi-cates when the suspensionlevel is being adjusted.
The following apply if a door or the tailgate is opened: If a door is opened, the level can only be adjusted upwards.
If the tailgate is open, the level can only beadjusted downwards.
ParkingWhen parking, make sure that there is ade-quate space above and below the vehiclesince ground clearance may vary dependingon e.g. ambient temperature, how the vehicle is loaded, if loading mode is used, which drivemode is selected after the engine is started,etc. The level may also be adjusted a period after the vehicle is parked. This is to compensatefor any height changes that may occur due totemperature changes in the air springs whenthe vehicle cools.
TransportingWhen transporting the vehicle on a ferry, trainor truck, only secure (lash) the vehicle aroundthe tires, not using any other parts of the chas-sis. Changes in the pneumatic suspensionmay occur during transport, which couldadversely affect the lashing and result in dam-age.

Never expose the battery to open flameor electric spark. Do not smoke nearthe battery. Failure to follow theinstructions for jump starting can leadto injury.
NOTE
The vehicle cannot be started if the hybrid battery is discharged.

Retractable hitch
*
The retractable hitch is designed to be used to tow a trailer or mount a bicycle holder. Thehitch can be easily retracted or extended asneeded. When retracted, the hitch is com-pletely concealed.
Folding out the hitch1.
Open the tailgate. There is a button for operating the hitch on the right-hand sideat the rear of the cargo compartment.Steady orange illumination from the indi-cator light in the button shows that thefolding function is active. 2. Press the button and release – pressing
too long on the button may prevent thehitch from folding out.
> The hitch will fold out and down to anunlocked position – the indicator lamp will flash orange. The hitch is ready tobe moved to the locked position.
3.
Move the hitch to its end position, where it will lock in place – the indicator lamp willglow steadily orange.
> The hitch is now ready for use.

Retracting the hitch1. Open the tailgate. Press the button on therear, right-hand side of the cargo compart- ment and release. Pressing too long onthe button may prevent the hitch fromfolding in.
> The hitch will automatically fold downto the unlocked position and the indica- tor light in the button will flash orange. 2.
Secure the hitch into position by pushing it back to its retracted position under thebumper, where it will lock into place.
> The indicator light in the button will
now glow steadily if the hitch is cor- rectly locked in the retracted position.
CAUTION
Make sure that there is no adapter in the electrical socket or removable ball sectionmounted when the towbar is folded in. Remove the bicycle holder from the towbar when it is not being used.
Hitch-mounted bicycle holder
NOTE
The weight limits for trailers and towbar- mounted accessories differ. A separatelimit applies for each. This towbar is onlydesigned for towbar-mounted bicycle hold-ers. All other accessories are not suitable.
Before mounting the bicycle on the bicycle holder, keep in mind that:
The maximum weight for the bicycleholder including bicycles is 130 lbs/60 kg.For example: holder 40 lbs + bicycle 30lbs + bicycle 30 lbs = 100 lbs total > OK
Do not mount more than two bicycles
The center of gravity should not exceed thedimensions:
1. 613 mm (24 1/7 ")
2. 642 mm (25 2/7 ")

WARNING
In a head-on collision at a speed of 50 km/h (30 mph), an unsecured objectweighing 20 kg (44 pounds) can reach aprojectile weight equivalent to 1000 kg(2200 pounds).
WARNING
If objects are loaded higher than the upper edge of the side windows, leave a 10 cm(4 in.) space between the objects and thewindow. Objects placed closer to thiscould impede the function of the inflatablecurtain concealed inside the headlining.
WARNING
Always secure the load. Otherwise, it may shift during heavy braking and injure peo-ple in the vehicle. Cover sharp edges and sharp corners with something soft. Turn off the engine and apply the parking brake when loading/unloading longobjects. Otherwise, it is possible for theload to reach the gear lever or gear selectorand move it to a drive position – whichcould cause the vehicle to begin rolling.
Extra cargo space
The rear seat backrests can be folded down to increase cargo space in the cargo compart- ment/trunk and simplify loading. If the rearseat backrests are folded down, make surethat no objects loaded into the vehicle preventthe WHIPS system for the front seats fromfunctioning correctly. The ski hatch in the rear seat can be folded down to carry skis or other long, thin objects.
Raising/lowering the rear end of the
vehicle *
The rear end of the vehicle can be lowered orraised for easier loading into the cargo com-partment/trunk or to facilitate attaching a trailer*.
The controls for raising/lowering are located at the rear edge of the right side panel in thecargo compartment/trunk.

The controls consist of two buttons ‒ one but-
ton for lowering and one button for raising the rear end. Press and hold the relevant buttonuntil the desired height is reached. The rear end of the vehicle cannot be raised higher than its normal height. The rear end will return to the normal height when the vehicle begins driving.
NOTE
It is not possible to adjust the height of the vehicle's rear when one or more of thedoors or the hood is open. This does notapply to the tailgate.
WARNING
Make sure that no people, animals or objects are found under the vehicle when itis lowered. This could endanger life andcause damage to the vehicle or objects.

Installing and removing the cargo compartment cover *
In the fully open position, the cover and the rear flap conceal objects in the cargo com-partment.
Installing the cargo compartment cover
Press the end piece on one side of the cover into the retaining bracket in the sidepanel of the cargo compartment.
Then put the other end piece in the recess in the side panel on the opposite side.
Make sure the front flap is pointed down- ward behind the backrest before the cas-sette is put into place.
Push the end piece down on both sides, one at a time.
> When a click is heard and the red marks on each end piece are no longer visible, the cover is in place. Check thatit is secure.
Fitting the tailgate flap
A flap should be mounted on the tailgate when using the cargo compartment cover. 1.
Turn the flap so that the screw side faces down and guide the pin into the bracketon one side of the tailgate.

582 2. Squeeze together the flap slightly to make
it easier to guide the pin into place in the bracket on the other side.
3.
Press the two upper clips in the respective recess in the tailgate so it clicks into place.
Removing the cargo compartment cover
In retracted position:
1. Press the button on one of the cover's ends and lift out that end.
2. Carefully lift the cover up and out. > The other end will release automaticallyand the cover can then be lifted out of the cargo compartment.
Removing the tailgate flap
If the cargo compartment cover is not being used, the rear flap should be removed. 1.
Pull the upper clips of the cover straight out of the tailgate.
2.
Carefully pull the flap out of the bracket on one side of the tailgate and then the other.If necessary, press the flap togetherslightly to make it more flexible and facili-tate removal.

Operating the cargo compartment cover*
The cover can be used in two positions: fully open to completely cover the cargo compart-ment or partially retracted to make it easier toreach further into the cargo compartment.
Fully open
Grasp the handle and pull the cover out as far as possible.
Press the attachment pins in the recesses in the rear pillars of the cargo compart-ment.
> The cover will be secured in the fully open position.
Cover in the fully open position.
The rear flap mounted on the inside of the tailgate supplements the cargo compartment cover.
CAUTION
Do not place objects on top of the cargo compartment cover.
Loading modeFrom the fully opened position:
–
Press the handle section of the cargo com- partment slightly upward.
> The cover will move up until it stops in the partially retracted position.
Returning to the fully open position from the partially retracted position:
1. Grasp the handle and pull the cover down as far as possible. Angle the handle slightly upward so that the attaching pinscan more easily move past the first set ofgrooves.
2. Release the handle so that the attaching pins engage into the grooves.
> The cover will be secured in the fullyopen position.
