Changing a setting
A sub-category in Settings view with various possible settings
1. Tap the category/sub-category to navigate to
the desired setting.
2. Change the setting(s). > The changes are saved immediately.
Types of settings
Type of setting Description
Trigger function Starts an app or a separate viewfor more advanced settings. Tapthe text to e.g., connect aBluetooth device.
Radiobutton Select one of the possible set-tings by tapping the desired radiobutton to e.g., change the systemlanguage.

Multi- selectionbutton Select a level for a particular set-ting by pressing the desired partof the button e.g., to set thedesired level for City Safety.

Categories in Settings view
Settings view consists of a number of main cate- gories and sub-categories that contain settingsand information for many of the vehicle's fea-tures and functions.
The main categories in Settings view are: My
Car, Sound, Navigation, Media,Communication, Climate and System.
Each main category, in turn, contains several sub- categories with possible settings. The tableshows the first level of sub-categories. The possi-ble settings for a function or area are describedin greater detail in their respective articles in theowner's manual. For system settings not descri-bed in the respective articles, see "Changing sys-tem settings in Settings view."

Indicator symbols in the instrument panelThe indicator symbols alert the driver when cer- tain functions are activated, that a system isactively working or that a fault may have occur-red in a system or function.
Symbol Explanation
Information, see the text mes- sage in the instrument panel The information symbol illuminates in combination with a text mes-sage if one of the vehicle's sys-tems requires the driver's atten-tion. The information symbol canalso illuminate in combination withother symbols.

A
BABS brake system This symbol indicates a possible fault in the ABS braking function.The vehicle's normal brakes willstill function but without ABSbrake modulation.

Parking brake/Auto-brake This function keeps the vehicle at a standstill after it has stopped.The symbol is on when the func-tion is activated and the brakes orparking brake are being used.
Tire pressure system The symbol illuminates to indicate low tire pressure or a fault in thetire pressure system.
Malfunction indicator light (check engine light) This symbol will illuminate if there is a fault in the emissions controlsystem. If this happens, pleasehave your vehicle checked by atrained and qualified Volvo servicetechnician as soon as possible.

Left/right turn signals Both turn signal indicators will flash when the hazard warningflashers are being used.
Forward lights
Active Bending Lights (ABL) This symbol will illuminate if there is a fault in the ABL system or ifany other fault is detected in theheadlight system.
Automatic/active high beams on The symbol will be blue when the automatic high beams are on.
Automatic/active high beams offThe symbol will be white when
the automatic high beams are off.
High beam indicator The symbol will illuminate when the high beams are on or whenhigh beam flash is being used.

Warning symbols in the instrument panel
The warning symbols alert the driver that an important function is activated or that a seriousfault has occurred.
Symbol Meaning
Warning The red warning symbol alerts the driver that an important function isactivated or that a serious faulthas occurred that may affect thevehicle's drivability. The warningsymbol can also illuminate in com-bination with other symbols.
Seat belt reminder This symbol will flash for approxi- mately 6 seconds if the driver orfront seat passenger has not fas-tened his or her seat belt or if any-one in the rear seat has unbuck-led a seat belt.

Airbags If this light remains on after the vehicle has been started or comeson while the vehicle is beingdriven, a fault has been detectedin one of the vehicle's safety sys-tems. See the message in theinstrument panel. Have the sys-tem(s) inspected by a trained andqualified Volvo service technicianas soon as possible.

BBrake system If this symbol illuminates, the brake fluid level may be too low.Stop the vehicle in a safe placeand check the level in the brakefluid reservoir. See also the warn-ing following this table.

BParking brake This symbol flashes while the parking brake is being applied andthen glows steadily when theparking brake has been set. If the symbol flashes in any other situation, this indicates a fault. Seethe text message in the instru-ment panel.

SymbolMeaning
Oil pressure If the symbol illuminates during driving, stop the vehicle, theengine oil level is too low. Stop theengine immediately and check theengine oil level. Add oil if neces-sary. If the oil level is normal andthe symbol remains illuminated,have the vehicle towed to thenearest authorized Volvo work-shop or trained and qualified Volvoservice technician.
Generator not charging This symbol illuminates during driving if a fault has occurred inthe electrical system. Contact anauthorized Volvo workshop ortrained and qualified Volvo servicetechnician.

Door/hood/tailgate/fuel filler door reminder
It a door, tailgate, the hood or the fuel filler door are not closed properly, the information or warn-ing symbol will illuminate and a graphic will bedisplayed in the instrument panel.

Compass
The rear-view mirror has an integrated compass that shows the direction in which the vehicle istraveling.

Eight different directions are shown with the abbreviations: N (north) NE (northeast) E (east),SE (southeast) S (south), SW (southwest) W(west) NW (northwest)
Switching the compass on/offThe compass is displayed automatically when the vehicle is started. To switch the compass on/off:
–Use a pen, paperclip or similar object and press in the button on the underside of themirror.

Manually operated front seats
The front seats can be adjusted in a number of ways to help provide the most comfortable seat-ing position.
Raise/lower the front edge of seat cushion by pumping up/down
Change the length of the seat cushion by pulling up the lever and moving the cushionforward/rearward with your hand
Move the seat forward/rearward by pulling the bar upward and moving the seat.
Change lumbar support by pressing the but- ton *
Raise/lower the seat by moving the control up/down
Change backrest tilt by turning the wheel
WARNING
• Do not adjust the seat while driving. The seat should be adjusted so that the brakepedal can be depressed fully. In addition,position the seat as far rearward as com-fort and control allow.
• Check that the seat is securely lockedinto position after adjusting.

Moving the second row seats forward/rearward
The second row seats can be moved forward/ rearward individually to help optimize legroom forthe passengers.
Lift the handle located under the seat.
Move the seat forward/rearward to the desired position.
3. Release the handle and move the seat so that it locks in the new position.
WARNING
Be careful when moving the seat to avoid injuries to your hands/fingers. Check that the seat is securely locked in posi- tion after being moved.

Adjusting the second row backrest tilt
Backrest tilt can be adjusted separately for each of the second row seats.
Center seat
1. Pull the strap on the center seat's right side.
2. Adjust backrest tilt forward/rearward by decreasing/increasing pressure on it.
3. Release the strap to lock the backrest in the new position and press the backrest until its lock engages.

Outboard seats
1. Pull the handle on the side of the seat
upward.
2. Adjust backrest tilt forward/rearward by decreasing/increasing pressure on it.
3. Release the handle to lock the backrest in the new position and press the backrest until its lock engages.
WARNING
Check that all backrests are securely locked in place after changing the tilt angle.

Folding the second row backrests
The second row of seats has three individual seating positions whose backrests can befolded down separately.
CAUTION
• To help avoid damage to the seat uphols- tery, before a rear seat backrest is foldeddown, remove any objects from the seatand ensure that the seat belts are notbuckled.
• The integrated booster cushion
* in the
center position must be stowed (foldeddown) before the backrest is foldeddown.
• The center seating position armrest mustbe folded up before the backrest isfolded down.
NOTE
•It may be necessary to adjust the front seat backrests and/or move these seatsforward in order to fold down the rearseat backrests completely.
• It may also be necessary to move thesecond row of seats rearward.

Starting and stopping preconditioning
Preconditioning heats/cools the passenger com- partment prior to driving. Please note that thecharging cable must be connected.
Starting/stopping from the centerdisplay
The preconditioning button in the Parking climate tab

1. Open Climate view in the center display. 2. Tap
Parking climate.

3. Tap the boxes to select if seat/steering
wheel heating is to be activated/deactivated when preconditioning starts.
4. Tap
Preconditioning.
> Preconditioning starts/stops and the indi- cator lights in the buttons will be on/off.
NOTE
Full preconditioning is only possible when the vehicle's charging cable is connected. In other cases, the passenger compartment can be cooled for 3 minutes in warm weather. This function is started from the
Parking
climate tab in the center display's Climate
view.
The vehicle's doors and windows should be closed during preconditioning.
Starting from a cell phone *Starting preconditioning and checking the cur-rent settings can be done from a cell phone withthe Volvo On Call mobile app. Preconditioningheats the passenger compartment to a comforta-ble temperature or cools the compartment to thecurrent ambient temperature. If the vehicle is equipped with the optional Engine Remote Start (ERS), the air conditioningcan be used to pre-cool the passenger compart-ment to a comfortable temperature.

Preconditioning symbols and messages
A symbol and various texts relating to precondi- tioning may be displayed in the instrument panel.

Parking climate Unavailable Charge level too lowPreconditioning cannot be started because the hybrid battery's charge level is too low. Connect the charg- ing cable. In certain cases, the parking climate function can be started with limited functionality.

APreconditioning cannot be started because the hybrid battery's charge level is too low. Connect the charg- ing cable. In certain cases, the parking climate function can be started with limited functionality.
Parking climate Service requiredPreconditioning is not functioning properly. Contact a Volvo retailer or a trained and qualified Volvo service technician to have the system checked as soon as possible.
Parking climate Temporarily unavailablePreconditioning is temporarily not functioning and will be reset automatically while the vehicle is being driven or when it is restarted.

LOADING AND STORAGE

Place heavier cargo at the bottom of the load.
• Secure the cargo correctly with appropriatetie-down equipment.
• Check periodically that the load carriers andload are properly secured.
• Remember that the vehicle's center of gravityand handling change when you carry a loadon the roof.
• The vehicle's wind resistance and fuel con-sumption will increase with the size of theload.
• Drive smoothly. Avoid rapid starts, fast cor-nering and hard braking.
CAUTION
The optional panoramic roof should not be opened while load carriers are installed onthe vehicle.
