EBU00204To start out and accelerate
1. Release the throttle lever.cCAlways close the throttle while shifting
gears. Otherwise, damage to the engine and
drive train may result.2. Pull the clutch lever to disengage the clutch.
3. Shift into first gear.
4. Open the throttle gradually and at the same
time, release the clutch lever slowly.
5. Once the machine has attained adequate
speed, release the throttle, and at the same
time, quickly pull in the clutch lever.
6. Shift into second gear. (be careful not to
shift into neutral)

7. Open the throttle part way and gradually
release the clutch lever.
8. Follow the same procedure when shifting to
the next higher gear.wOpening the throttle abruptly or releasing the
clutch lever too quickly would increase the
chance of an accident or could make the
machine wheelie including overturn. Always
open the throttle gradually and release the
clutch lever gradually.

EBU00214Parking on a slopewAvoid parking on hills or other inclines.
Parking on a hill or other incline could cause
the ATV to roll out of control, increasing the
chance of an accident. If you must park on
an incline, put the machine in low gear, apply
the parking brake, and block the front and
rear wheels with rocks or other objects.
Do not park the ATV at all on hills that are so
steep you could not walk up them easily.1. Bring the machine to a stop by applying the
brakes in low gear.
2. Stop the engine and release the clutch
lever.
3. With the front and rear brakes applied, apply
the parking brake and slowly release the
rear brake pedal.

With the engine idling, pull the clutch lever to dis-
engage the clutch and shift into 1st gear, and then
release the parking brake. Open the throttle grad-
ually, and at the same time, release the clutch
lever slowly. Once the ATV has attained adequate
speed, release the throttle lever and at same time,
quickly pull in the clutch lever and shift into 2nd
gear. Open the throttle part way and gradually
release the clutch. Use this same procedure as
you move into the higher gears. Be sure to coordi-
nate the use of the throttle and shift pedal proper-
ly. If the throttle is applied too abruptly or if the
throttle is not released during shifting, or if the shift
pedal is not released before applying the throttle,
the front wheels may lift off the ground resulting in
a loss of directional control. Avoid higher speeds
until you are thoroughly familiar with the operation
of your ATV.wAlways open the throttle gradually and
release the clutch lever slowly. Otherwise,
the machine could wheelie which would
increase the chance of an accident.

cC8Be sure to use motor oils that do not con-
tain anti-friction modifiers. Passenger car
motor oils (often labeled “Energy Conserv-
ing”) contain anti-friction additives which
will cause clutch and/or starter clutch slip-
page, resulting in reduced component life
and poor engine performance.
8Be sure no foreign material enters the
crankcase.

EBU00539Clutch adjustment
The clutch lever free play should be 5 ~ 10 mm.
If the free play is incorrect, adjust as follows.
1. Loosen the locknut.
2. Turn the adjusting bolt so that clutch lever
free play is 5 ~ 10 mm.
3. Tighten the locknut.EBU00350Drive chain slack check
Inspect the drive chain while all tires are touch-
ing the ground. Check the slack at the position
shown in the figure. The normal vertical deflec-
tion is approximately 15 ~ 20 mm. If the deflec-
tion exceeds 20 mm, adjust the chain slack.
