Main switch/steering lock The main switch/steering lock controls
the ignition and lighting systems, and is
used to lock the steering.NOTE:Be sure to use the standard key (black
bow) for regular use of the vehicle. To
minimize the risk of losing the code re-
registering key (red bow), keep it in a
safe place and only use it for code re-registering.

All electrical circuits are supplied with
power; the meter lighting, taillight, li-
cense plate light and auxiliary light
come on, and the engine can be start-
ed. The key cannot be removed.NOTE:The headlight comes on automatically
when the engine is started and stays on
until the key is turned to “OFF”, even ifthe engine stalls.

All electrical systems are off. The key
can be removed.

LOCK
The steering is locked, and all electrical
systems are off. The key can be re-
moved.To lock the steering
1. Turn the handlebars all the way to
the left.
2. Push the key in from the “OFF” po-
sition, and then turn it to “LOCK”
while still pushing it.
3. Remove the key.1. Push.

3 To unlock the steering
Push the key in, and then turn it to
“OFF” while still pushing it.

Never turn the key to “OFF” or
“LOCK” while the vehicle is moving,
otherwise the electrical systems will
be switched off, which may result in
loss of control or an accident. Make
sure that the vehicle is stopped be-
fore turning the key to “OFF” or“LOCK”.

(Parking)
The steering is locked, and the taillight,
license plate light and auxiliary light are
on. The hazard lights and turn signal
lights can be turned on, but all other
electrical systems are off. The key can
be removed.
The steering must be locked before the
key can be turned to “”.

Do not use the parking position for
an extended length of time, other-wise the battery may discharge.

Replacing the auxiliary light
bulb If the auxiliary light bulb burns out, re-
place it as follows.
1. Remove the headlight unit by re-
moving the bolts on each side.
2. Remove the auxiliary light socket
(together with the coupler) by turn-
ing the socket counterclockwise.
3. Remove the defective bulb by pull-
ing it out.
4. Insert a new bulb into the socket.
5. Install the auxiliary light socket (to-
gether with the coupler) by push-
ing it in and turning it clockwise.

Supporting the motorcycle Since this model is not equipped with a
centerstand, follow these precautions
when removing the front and rear
wheel or performing other maintenance
requiring the motorcycle to stand up-
right. Check that the motorcycle is in a
stable and level position before starting
any maintenance. A strong wooden
box can be placed under the engine for
added stability.
To service the front wheel
1. Stabilize the rear of the motorcycle
by using a motorcycle stand or, if
an additional motorcycle stand is
not available, by placing a jack un-
der the frame in front of the rear
wheel.
2. Raise the front wheel off the
ground by using a motorcycle
stand.
To service the rear wheel
Raise the rear wheel off the ground by
using a motorcycle stand or, if a motor-
cycle stand is not available, by placinga jack either under each side of the
frame in front of the rear wheel or under
each side of the swingarm.
