CONTROL FUNCTIONS

Main switch
Functions of the respective switch positions are
as follows:
ON:
The engine can be started only at this position
and the headlights and taillight come on when
the light switch is on.
OFF:
All electrical circuits are switched off. The key
can be removed in this position.

las posiciones del interruptor son las siguientes:
ON:
El motor sólo se puede poner en marcha con el
interruptor en esta posición; si está conectado el
interruptor de cambio de luces se encienden el
faro y las luces traseras.
OFF:
Se desconectan todos los circuitos eléctricos.
En esta posición puede extraerse la llave de
contacto.

MAINTENANCE AND
ADJUSTMENT
Periodic inspection, adjustment and lubrication
will keep your machine in the safest and most
efficient condition possible. Safety is an obliga-
tion of the machine owner. The most important
points of machine inspection, adjustment and
lubrication are explained on the following pages.

Never service an engine while it is running.
Moving parts can catch clothing or parts of
the body, causing injury. Electrical compo-
nents can cause shocks or can start fires.
Turn off the engine when performing mainte-
nance unless otherwise specified. Have a
Yamaha dealer perform service if you are not
familiar with machine service.

sont indispensables au bon état de marche du
véhicule et à sa conduite en toute sécurité. Le
propriétaire a le devoir de veiller à la sûreté de
son véhicule. Les pages suivantes reprennent les
points les plus importants des contrôles, réglages
et graissages du véhicule.

Toujours couper le moteur avant d’effectuer
l’entretien du véhicule. Les pièces mobiles
pourraient happer un vêtement ou des parties
du corps et causer des blessures. Les éléments
électriques peuvent provoquer des décharges
ou déclencher des incendies. Couper le
moteur avant d’effectuer tout entretien, sauf
quand autrement spécifié. Le propriétaire qui
n’est pas au courant des techniques d’entre-
tien est invité à s’adresser à un concessionnai-
re Yamaha.

las inspecciones, ajustes y lubricación.

No efectuar ninguna operación de manteni-
miento del motor con éste en marcha. Los
elementos móviles podrían engancharse en
la ropa o en el cuerpo y causar lesiones. Los
componentes eléctricos pueden ocasionar
sacudidas o incendios. Antes de efectuar
cualquier operación de mantenimiento, parar
el motor, a menos que se indique lo contra-
rio. Si no se está familiarizado con el mante-
nimiento del vehículo encomendarselo a un
concesionario Yamaha.

Fuse replacement
1. The fuse block is located on the right side of
the machine.
2. If the fuse is blown, turn off the ignition
switch and install a new fuse of proper
amperage. Then turn on the ignition switch,
if the fuse immediately blows again, consult
a Yamaha dealer.

Always use a fuse of the specified rating.
Never use a material in place of the proper
fuse. An improper fuse can cause damage to
the electrical system which could lead to a
fire.

To prevent accidental short-circuiting, turn
off the main switch when checking or replac-
ing a fuse.

Excessive water pressure may cause water
seepage and deterioration of wheel bearings,
brakes, transmission seals and electrical
devices. Many expensive repair bills have
resulted from improper high pressure deter-
gent applications such as those available in
coin-operated car washers.
4. Once the majority of the dirt has been hosed
off, wash all surfaces with warm water and
mild, detergent-type soap. An old toothbrush
or bottle brush is handy for hard-to-get-at
places.
5. Rinse the machine off immediately with
clean water and dry all surfaces with a
chamois, clean towel or soft absorbent
cloth.
6. Dry the chain and lubricate it to prevent rust.

Une pression d’eau excessive peut provoquer
des infiltrations d’eau qui risqueraient
d’endommager les roulements de roue, les
freins, les joints de la transmission et l’équi-
pement électrique. L’utilisation de portiques
de lavage automatique est préjudiciable au
véhicule et peut entraîner des réparations
très coûteuses.
4. Quand le gros de la crasse est éliminé, laver
toutes les surfaces à l’eau chaude savonneu-
se (employer un détergent doux). Recourir à
une brosse à dents ou un rince-bouteilles
pour nettoyer les parties d’accès difficile.
5. Rincer immédiatement le véhicule à l’eau
claire et sécher toutes les surfaces avec une
peau de chamois, une serviette propre ou un
chiffon absorbant doux.
6. Sécher la chaîne et la lubrifier afin d’éviter
qu’elle ne rouille.

tes de rueda, frenos, retenes de la transmi-
sión y dispositivos eléctricos, con el consi-
guiente deterioro. Muchas facturas de repa-
ración de elevado importe han sido conse-
cuencia de la aplicación inadecuada de
detergente a una presión excesiva, tal como
sucede en los túneles de lavado de coches
que funcionan con monedas.
4. Una vez eliminada la mayor parte de la sucie-
dad, lave todas las superficies con agua
caliente y un jabón detergente neutro. Resulta
práctico utilizar un cepillo de dientes o de lim-
piar botellas para eliminar la suciedad en los
lugares de difícil acceso.
5. Aclare la máquina inmediatamente con agua
limpia y seque todas las superficies con una
gamuza, una toalla limpia o un trapo suave y
absorbente.
6. Seque la cadena y lubríquela para evitar que
se oxide.
