82. Remove the tailpipe by pulling it out of the
muffler.
3. Tap the tailpipe lightly, and then use a wire brush to remove any carbon deposits from the
spark arrester portion of the tailpipe and inside
of the tailpipe housing. 4. Insert the tailpipe into the muffler and align the
bolt holes.
5. Install the tailpipe bolts and tighten them to the specified torque.

3. Turn the adjusting bolt in or out until the brake
pedal height is within the specified limits.
4. Tighten the locknut.
5. Install the footboard by installing the bolts and nuts, and then tighten them to the specified
torques.
TIPTighten the footboard bolts in the order shown.

8Adjusting the brake pedal free play
The brake pedal free play should measure 20.0
mm (0.79 in). If the free play is incorrect, adjust it
as follows.
TIPThe brake lever free play and brake pedal height
must be adjusted before adjusting the brake pedal
free play.1. Loosen the locknut.
Tightening torques:
Footboard bolt A:4.0 Nm (0.40 m·kgf, 2.9 ft·lbf)
Footboard bolt B: 7 Nm (0.7 m·kgf, 5.1 ft·lbf)

wheels. Install the nuts with their tapered side to-
wards the wheel.
